Chapter 106: Want to Spend the Night With Me?
"The Lin Family’s Village is dangerous for an outsider because of the plague. You will need to take good care of yourself. Make sure to always keep your mouth covered. Wear gloves when treating the patients, but still wash your hands before eating or drinking, or when you take rest."
Xiang Ling listened as Wei Guang continued to remind her of all the precautions she needed to take while staying in the Lin Family’s Village. So far, he had said everything but what she wanted to hear the most.
Moving from where she had been standing next to the window, she walked toward the man and stood right next to him, forcing the man to stop putting more things in the cloth bag he was preparing for her journey.
"What is it?" Wei Guang asked when he noticed the unhappy look on her face. A concerned look took over his face. He left everything and focused all his attention on her.
Folding her hands over her chest, she glared at the man and asked, "Are you not going to stop me from leaving even once?"
As soon as she spoke the words, a knowing smile curved the corners of Wei Guang’s lips. He placed his hands on her shoulders and pulled the woman closer to him. Staring right into her eyes, he asked, "Will you not leave if I ask so?"
Slowly, Xiang Ling shook her in a negative response before adding, "I have promised to help. I will still leave."
The smile on Wei Guang’s lips only became bigger after hearing her reply as if he already knew what she was going to say. Placing one of his hands against her cheek, he spoke in his soft and warm voice, "I knew that you would not stop even if I asked you to. That’s why I didn’t try to stop you. I would have loved to accompany you, but you have already handed over such a huge task to me. This is the first time you have asked something from me, and I want to make sure that I will not disappoint you when you finally return. Now, all I can do is hope that you will look after yourself while in the Lin Family’s Village."
Xiang Ling’s eyes finally warmed up and so did her heart. Snaking her hands around the man’s waist, she stepped closer to him and rested her head against his chest. Her ears immediately picked up the beautiful sound of his heart beating inside his chest. "I will miss you."
Wei Guang wrapped his hands around her and hugged her tightly as he whispered next to her ear, "I will miss you a lot too. This is such bad timing of yours to leave me here all alone."
Xiang Ling chuckled in response to his complaint. "You are right. We should be spending more time together instead of staying away from each other. But look at the situation. How unfortunate of us?" She turned her head to look up at his face and found him smiling softly at her.
Wei Guang didn’t say anything and just placed a sweet kiss on her forehead before his lips started trailing their way downward. In no time, his lips found hers and he pulled her into a deep, passionate kiss. Their lips brushed against each other’s first before they engulfed each other. They moved in sync, pushing and pulling together as they kissed like there was no tomorrow.
By the time they parted, both of them were out of breath, gasping for air. Smiles decorated both of their lips and so did the desire in their eyes.
"Want to spend the night with me?" Xiang Ling offered and the smile on Wei Guang’s lips only became bigger. He was about to reply when someone entered the chamber and disturbed their sweet moment together.
"Sorry to disappoint you both. The two of you will not be spending the night together." Xin Cheng’s cold voice made Xiang Ling and Wei Guang pull away from each other.
"Why?" Xiang Ling asked as she turned her hard gaze toward the univited man who was staring back at her with just as much coldness in his eyes.
"Because you are coming with me." That was all he said in response.
"Where?"
Xin Cheng finally let out a sigh and headed toward her. Once he was close enough, he grabbed one of her hands and pulled her away from a very confused Wei Guang. "I need to bring her along with me to somewhere. You will not mind, will you?" He asked and Wei Guang slowly shook his head.
"Good." That was all Xin Cheng said in response before he almost dragged Xiang Ling out of the chamber and into the dimly lit courtyard.
"Be careful! Do you want me to fall?" Xiang Ling snapped at the man who finally loosened his grip on her hand but didn’t let go. They stopped walking for a moment once they reached a secluded dark corner, but then Xiang Ling felt the familiar sensation of a spell washing over her as Xin Cheng teleported the two of them away. A moment later, the two of them appeared in what seemed like wilderness.
"What is this place?" Xiang Ling asked as she looked around the area that was nothing more than barren lands that stretched out to miles in all four directions.
Xin Cheng gave her that usual look of his that asked whether she was stupid. "Didn’t you ask me to buy this place early in the morning?" He asked.
Realization immediately dawned on Xiang Ling. "Oh! So, it’s that place. Have you already bought the land?"
"Of course, he has. My dear friend is really fast when it comes to important matters like this one." The voice belonged to Li Dao Ming who appeared at the scene too.
Xin Cheng gave a hard glare to Dao Ming for the latter’s choice of words but didn’t say anything. Instead, he took out the lands’ deeds and handed them over to Xiang Ling.
