"Why buy such a huge piece of land in the middle of nowhere?" Li Dao Ming asked as he took a look at his surroundings.
A bright smile appeared on Xiang Ling’s lips as she finished reading the deed. Turning her gaze toward Dao Ming, she answered, "I’m going to start my very first business here."
Both Xin Cheng and Dao Ming arched their eyebrows at her words. "Business?" Dao Ming questioned, not trying to hide his curiosity.
"En! I will build Inns and restaurants here. Along with that, I have some other plans too." Her cheerful face suddenly became dull as she let out a deep sigh and added, "Unfortunately, I have to leave this coming morning. So, I will need to delay the construction work until my return."
"Why the sudden plan to help the Lin Family’s Village?" Xin Cheng asked. For once, his gaze carried a hint of curiosity instead of coldness and aloofness.
"Since you two already know my identity, I will not hide it from you. The Fairy incharge of Nanxia County came to ask for my help this morning. She has something that I want in exchange, so I have to help her in dealing with the situation of Lin Family’s Village." Xiang Ling confessed.
"Why let a mere Fairy control you? Being an Immortal, you are already at a higher status than her. You should learn to use your powers and status properly." Xin Cheng reprimanded her with a clear look of unhappiness in his eyes.
Xiang Ling let out a small sigh before she replied, "I might be stronger and at a higher status than her. But right now, I’m in the Mortal Realm, residing inside a mortal body, and governed by the Heavenly Laws. Considering my situation, I should lay low and pass my life tribulation without attracting too much attention. Besides, that Fairy made a proper offer and I accepted it because I could manage it."
Xin Cheng didn’t say anything at all in response to her reply, but Xiang Ling knew better than to take his silence as an acceptance of her reasoning. The two of them had entirely different beliefs. While he believed that everything could be controlled by power and status, she knew that she neither had enough power nor high status to deal with those who were standing against her.
Even though she was a Supreme Immortal in the Celestial Realm, the highest rank of Immortals in the Upper Realms right after the Royal Family, she was facing the Heavenly Royal Family as her opponents. Compared to them, she was nothing. Until she found a way to deal with her opponents, she needed to play the game wisely.
As she watched Xin Cheng from the side, she realized that the man carried a demeanor and aura that clearly made him look extremely powerful. Considering his high level of cultivation that even her ten thousand years of cultivation couldn’t match, he was undoubtedly older than her. Adding the words that he just said to the already existing mystery of his real identity, Xiang Ling wondered just who he could be.
In answer to her silent question, a voice at the back of her head kept telling her that just like Wei Guang and Li Xian, the other four men around her also carried a noble identity - one that could leave everyone in shock.
Taking in a deep breath, she spoke and her words were once again directed at Xin Cheng who was looking at the vast lands in front of him. "Thank you for helping me out with the purchase of the lands. You did me a great favor. Just like I promised, this pouch has the amount of money you spent on buying these lands." She offered him the pouch of money but the man made no move to take it.
"The previous owner of the body sold away her first brother’s restaurant along with the other shops of the Chen family. No matter how bad of a person she was throughout her life, she regretted being like that during the last moments of her life. The only thing she wished for during her death was to correct her wrongdoings. After renovating the Chen Manor, this business is the second step in correcting her mistakes. And since this is for her, I need to pay for it. Please accept the money."
A moment passed and Xin Cheng finally moved to face her. Without saying anything, he accepted the pouch of money and turned away from her.
"You want us to come along with you?" Dao Ming asked when he got tired of the silence that had dawned upon the trio. As soon as he made the proposal, he received another glare from Xin Cheng which made him change his mind immediately. "Actually, that’s not possible since we need to take care of some of our businesses. However, I can help you with the construction of your Inns and restaurants."
Xiang Ling’s eyes immediately lit up as she heard the offer. "Really? Can you? I have the final designs ready. If you can handle the construction work, I will hand over the designs to you."
A smile bloomed on Dao Ming’s lips as he moved closer to her and replied, "Then leave this task to me. I will not disappoint you."
Xiang Ling thought for a while before she quickly nodded her head and agreed to hand over the task of construction of the buildings to Dao Ming. "I’m putting my entire trust in you by handing the designs and the task of construction to you." She reminded him and in response, the man pulled her closer by snaking one of his hands around her waist. Staring into her eyes with mere inches of gap between their faces, he spoke, "I will not give you the chance to regret your decision. However... what reward will I get for passing this test of your trust with flying colors?"
"What do you want?" Xiang Ling asked.
With his lips almost pressed against her ear, he whispered, "You already know the answer."
