Chapter 359: Trying Again
Chapter 359: Trying Again
"Yes, see you on the day of the test then." Yi Chen answered through the Sound Transmission Stone before placing it back in his storage ring.
’This silly girl...’ he snorted with a subtle smirk on his face, remembering her whine-filled words when he had informed her that he wouldn’t be able to come tomorrow.
"Let’s pick up our pace then." Yi Chen turned towards Qin Yao and the two of them soon reached the marketplace and carefully spent their time picking out the freshest ingredients for today’s dinner.
As a result, it was only after an hour and a half that the two of them were finally done with the shopping.
Placing the last item in the storage ring, Yi Chen handed the ring to Qin Yao, "Here, from now on, this ring belongs to you."
"This..." Qin Yao’s eyes widened at this gesture as he clearly knew just how expensive storage items could be.
Yi Chen lightly chuckled seeing his reaction and said while ruffling his head, "Don’t think too much. See, Madam Gao had already given me another, so this is a spare one which I already have, so just accept it. It’s much better than selling it in the market."
"T-Thank you, Brother Chen." Qin Yao said with gratitude evident in his eyes.
"Mhm." Yi Chen nodded while smiling subtly as the two of them finally started making their way back to the manor.
After arriving, they first busied themselves with cleaning the entire place before freshening up. It was only then that they finally began preparing the evening meal, which took a majority of their time.
It was only by late afternoon that the two of them were finished with the required tasks and went to their rooms to rest a little.
Sitting in his room, Yi Chen wanted to use this free time to calmly meditate for a few hours. However, before starting this session, he was reminded of the fact that he had yet to confirm something.
Pulling open his status panel, he tapped on ’Cultivation Arsenal’ as the next second the Cultivation Arsenal panel popped open.
He had yet to confirm the changes in his comprehension percentage after reaching the Crimson Fire Art’s limit this morning.
A little curious as to what number his comprehension percentage would be now, he glanced through the panel.

’Ninety percent, huh...’ Yi Chen muttered inwardly as a bitter feeling rose in his heart, clearly knowing that he was just ten percent away from fully comprehending the art, yet because of the circumstances, he had no choice but to stop where he was right now.
"...But still, shouldn’t I give it a try again? Just for confirmation’s sake?... Maybe that was just a one-off event." he muttered to himself in an attempt to convince the cautious side of him.
’Yes... unlike others, I’m someone who possesses a demon physique. Maybe I really have the ability to comprehend the art fully.’
Thinking over these lines, he closed his eyes the next second while ruminating over all of Feng Lei’s teachings, as a subtle feeling that his understanding was slowly rising finally arose in his mind.
’See! I knew th-’
Yi Chen was just about to be overjoyed when a pang of pain jolted him out of his state as the voice from earlier completely overwhelmed his mind.
Dericia Fahir Meik Zerik...Dericia Fahir Meik Zerik...
The voice incessantly hammered in his head, and what was even worse was the fact that it was several decibels louder than what it was earlier, causing Yi Chen to fall on his face while tightly clutching his head.
"F-Fuck..."
He cursed while trying hard to suppress the pain as the voice eventually faded away, leaving Yi Chen heaving for breath on the floor.
The little courage he had mustered earlier to attempt to raise his comprehension had completely vanished by now.
’If I keep at it a few more times...then I really might lose my sanity,’ Yi Chen thought in realisation while wiping away the blood that was dripping down his nose as he soon pushed himself up.
A few moments later, he finally recovered his bearing and started meditating as if nothing had happened just now.
However, internally he had already made a decision to sincerely listen to the advice Feng Lei had given him in the morning and not attempt to raise his understanding of the Crimson Fire Arts at all.
’It’s still a little uncomfortable to stop at just ten percent before completion, but when I’m at the sect, I’ll naturally find enough things to keep myself busy so that I don’t dwell on it any longer...’
With that thought, he completely focused on his breathing as his mind began to turn empty little by little and clarity began to set in.
Time soon passed, and it was half past seven in the evening by the time Feng Lei had returned.
"M-Master...since it’s your last day with us, we’ve prepared dinner for you as well. Would you like to eat it with us?... If not, then I can also deliver it to your room." Qin Yao asked with a sincere expression, with a little apprehension evident in his voice.
Hearing this, a subtle frown formed on Feng Lei’s forehead as the next second he shook his head, "No, it’s alright. I’ll eat it together in the dining room."
"Alright!" Qin Yao immediately exclaimed with a brightness evident in his eyes as he rushed to the kitchen to make the last-minute preparations.
Meanwhile, Yi Chen, who had been standing a little behind Qin Yao all this while, said with a smile on his face, "It will at most take ten more minutes for everything to be arranged. I’ll call Uncle when the food’s ready."
"Alright, I’ll be waiting in my room then." Feng Lei nodded with his usual expression after hearing those words before moving towards his room.
However, if one were to pay a little closer attention to his expression at the moment, they would be able to see the edges of his lips subtly stretching sideways.
