Seeing both Elder Lei and Yi Chen coming in his direction, a smile formed on Qin Yao’s face.
’Looks like it wasn’t as serious a matter I thought...’ he muttered inwardly while looking forwards to the continuation Elder Lei’s lectures.
Since the session had ended because of an unexpected incident, there were still a lot of questions that were left unanswered in Qin Yao’s mind.
Seeing Elder Lei walking past him and going to his seat next to the tree, Qin Yao greeted him with a nod while turning towards Yi Chen, who had just arrived next to him.
"Brother Chen, is everything fine now?" Qin Yao asked while trying to get an idea as to what he had discussed with Elder Lei inside.
"Yes, everything’s fine now, so you need not worry," Yi Chen said with a chuckle while gesturing to him to focus towards Elder Lei, who had just taken his seat.
"The two of you may sit." Elder Lei gestured with his hand the next second.
After taking his seat, Qin Yao was expectantly waiting for Elder Lei to continue on with the session, only to hear something he wasn’t expecting in the slightest.
"Today was the last class in which I would be teaching the Crimson Fire Arts. Because of Yi Chen’s unexpected situation, I was unable to complete it fully, but with only two days left until the day of your departure, there isn’t much you will be able to grasp from my teachings anyway."
Elder Lei explained while meeting Qin Yao’s gaze.
"Moreover..." he continued the next second, "Since I’ve more or less achieved my objective of inculcating the two of you with the required knowledge and understanding, I’ll be leaving the Feng Clan tomorrow to completely focus on my cultivation.
Earlier, because of the two of you, I had only left for a few weeks so that I could help in giving the two of you the final push just before the entrance test. Since that need has been met...I’ll be completely gone for months if not years."
"Years..." An intense frown immediately formed on Qin Yao’s face when he heard these words as he subconsciously let out his thoughts in a helpless tone, "b-but there’s still so much I don’t know about the Crimson Fire Arts. With Master gone...just how will I be able to progress further?"
Feng Lei, who was already expecting such a reaction from Qin Yao, said while pointing towards Yi Chen, "In the future, Yi Chen will be your guide. He has already reached a significant level in his understanding of the Crimson Fire Art, so his words will be as good as mine, so he’s more than just qualified to answer all the doubts that may arise in your mind while pondering over the intricacies of the art."
"I see..." Qin Yao nodded in understanding, but the disappointment on his face was still evident as he asked while looking downwards, "Still...can’t you go a little later? If we get selected, then we would be really glad to celebrate that event with you...master."
A momentary smile formed on Feng Lei’s cold face when he heard those words as he soon responded in a tone that was much gentler than normal, "It’s not whether you will get selected or not. From what I’ve seen so far and from what you’ve been taught, in my heart it’s a certainty that the two of you are going to be selected.
Moreover, it’s not like I’ll be away for several years. At most it’ll take me a few more years to accomplish what I want to do, and then we’ll be able to meet again. However,"
Feng Lei’s countenance immediately turned strict as he continued, "In that period, the two of you must not become complacent and continue to progress in your cultivation as you are now. Otherwise, the two of you will see a side of me that you have yet to see. Do the two of you understand?"
Feng Lei finished his words with his eyes narrowed, causing both Yi Chen and Qin Yao to gulp as they nodded simultaneously.
"W-We understand."
They both nodded in acknowledgement.
After hearing this news, just like Qin Yao, Yi Chen was also a little taken aback, but remembering his motive for getting revenge, he immediately thought of something.
’Could it be...Is he on the verge of breaking through to the Core Building Stage? If that’s the case, then his years-long seclusion would naturally make sense.’
Meanwhile, Feng Lei gave them a few tips on what all they should keep in mind during their stay at the Heavenly Azure Dragon Sect, which both Qin Yao and Yi Chen listened to with great interest.
The way Feng Lei gave them advice clearly told them that he truly believed that the two of them would be getting selected in the entrance test and joining the Heavenly Azure Dragon Sect, which further strengthened the desire in their hearts to prove him right.
Especially for Qin Yao, who, because of his lack of experience, had been on pins and needles all this while because of the immensity the entrance test carried in his mind.
"That’s about all the two of you need to keep in mind." Feng Lei said while standing up and continued, "I’ll be back by early evening as there are a few clan formalities I’ll need to take care of before leaving."
With that said, Feng Lei left the manor, leaving both Yi Chen and Qin Yao to themselves.
"Let’s go and buy some fresh meat and vegetables." Yi Chen said the next instant.
"Mhm? Why all of a sudden?" Qin Yao asked with confusion evident on his face. Since preparing them took time, they didn’t always have them.
"Didn’t you hear him?" Yi Chen asked with a smile, "Elder Lei said that he’ll be back by early evening. Don’t you want to share dinner with him before he leaves?"
"This..." Qin Yao’s eyes brightened in realisation when he heard this as he exclaimed, "Yes! We must ensure that everything is of the best quality tonight!"
Yi Chen softly chuckled seeing his reaction and answered, "Yes, that’s a must."
A few moments later, the two of them left for the market with the intention of choosing the freshest meat and vegetables the stalls had to offer.
