Chapter 3771: The Female Sentinel

Chapter 3771: The Female Sentinel

Alex let his Sun Fire burn, giving vision in the shadowed region. He looked at the woman, hoping she would do something.

Instead, the woman simply shook her head.

"You would think a group of assassins would be smart enough to judge danger when they see it. And yet, the four of you have still not left this place at all," she said before pausing. "Well, three of you now, I suppose."

Alex had barely even registered the fact that she had mentioned there being 4 people when he saw something out of the corner of his eyes.

The Divinity from earlier, the one who had cut his neck with a dagger, suddenly flopped over and dropped to the ground.

Alex turned toward the man, his eyes stuck on the body.

What had just happened? And why hadn’t he seen anything?

He couldn’t look away.

"Don’t worry," the woman said. "He’s just unconscious. You poor souls shouldn’t die just because you thought to get revenge for your disciple. Now, that was a warning. If you continue to cause problems, I will kill the next one."

No one spoke at all. The silence and the darkness that covered them all made for an eerie experience. Alex finally looked away from the collapsed body and back toward the woman, trying to understand anything about what was happening.

The woman sighed and reached for her neck. She grabbed onto something and pulled on it.

It was a necklace she wore with a beautiful yellow gem at the center. The moment she took it off, her appearance suddenly changed. Aesthetically, she remained the same with her fair skin and dark brown hair.

But the structure of her face changed, and that was enough to make a massive difference.

Gasps rang out from two different sources, and instantly, the darkness vanished. Sunlight returned to the desert, revealing a man and a woman who stood close together farther away.

Far beyond, Alex could see someone already in the process of running away in fear.

Alex could only stare in utter bewilderment.

"Fo-forgive us," an older man said. "We... we didn’t think..."

The woman shook her head. "Just leave before I get angry."

The two nodded and turned.

"Wait," the woman said casually.

Slowly, the two turned and waited for her to speak.

"Take your friend too."

The two finally remembered their unconscious comrade and grabbed him before quickly running away.

"Are you just going to let them go?" Han Zhaofeng asked. "You should’ve killed them."

The woman knocked him lightly on the head, just strong enough that the man felt actual pain. "I’m here because I promised your grandfather I would keep you safe. I am not doing anything else."

The young man rubbed his head. "But I thought you liked it when they underestimated you and got beaten in return."

"I usually do," the woman said. "But not today. I just pity those poor fools."

Alex couldn’t look away from the woman who had clearly been hiding herself until just earlier. To do so, she had to be someone well known within this realm, but he simply couldn’t tell who that could be.

The woman turned upon noticing Alex’s gaze and looked him over thoroughly.

"I should’ve realized who you were the last time I saw you," she said. "But your aura is just so weak that I only remembered you afterward."

Alex’s eyes narrowed. "You know who I am?"

"Obviously," the woman said before pausing for a second. "Wait, do you not know who I am?"

Alex shook his head. "I’m not from around here, Senior."

"I know you’re not from around here, but you may have seen paintings of mine, maybe," she said with a lopsided grin. She had entirely changed from how serious she was just moments ago.

"I have never seen you before in my life, Senior," Alex answered.

The woman frowned slightly and clicked her tongue. "That’s fine. I’m not one of the important ones anyway," she said, looking away somewhat disappointed. "Where did that woman go, by the way? She just vanished out of nowhere."

"She..." Alex paused. He hadn’t thought much about what he had done in openly placing Ronron into his Soul Space. "She..."

"Do you have a Soul Space like the Sky God’s? I think I remember hearing something about it," the woman said.

Alex was even more curious now. The woman should not have known about it for any reason other than being told directly by someone from the Sky God’s Palace. Had someone leaked this information?

"Bring her out before they realize she’s gone. She will be disqualified," the woman said.

Alex couldn’t help but nod as he understood that she was indeed speaking the truth. In fact, Ronron might even have been disqualified already since she had technically left the premises of the secret realm by hiding in his Soul Space.

That was entirely the reason Alex hadn’t taken the three women into his Soul Space.

He brought Ronron out a moment later. She arrived slightly disoriented but quickly gathered herself.

"Father, are you okay? Has the Silent Night Hall—"

She paused as she looked around and found nobody else remaining.

"Don’t worry, little girl. You’re safe," the woman said.

Ronron turned toward the voice, seeing the woman. Her eyes immediately widened in surprise.

"Your Majesty!" she shouted, quickly bowing.

The woman blinked, a smile forming on her face. "You recognize me?" She seemed happy to find someone who knew who she was, since Alex didn’t.

"Of course," Ronron said, quickly taking out the piece of her artifact that hid her identity. Immediately, her green hair returned, along with her signature silver and emerald eyes.

Han Zhaofeng’s eyes widened in more shock than anything else he had shown until now.

"Oh!" the woman reacted. "It’s you. Are you taking part too this time?"

"Yes," Ronron said. "I came here with my father and a few others."

Alex leaned toward Ronron. "Can you introduce us?"

Ronron gave a confused look. "Do you not know who she is, Father?" she asked.

Alex shook his head.

Ronron gasped slightly. "Father, that’s Her Majesty, the Staff God."
