Chapter 3772: Staff Qi
Chapter 3772: Staff Qi
Alex looked at the Staff God with clear awe. Not for a second had he thought that this woman would be a god at all. He just didn’t understand why there would be a god here in the first place.
He quickly bowed toward the woman. "My apologies for not recognizing you sooner, Senior. I just... I had never seen you before."
The woman didn’t seem to mind. "You should ask Senior Bladedance to show you the paintings of all the gods when you have the time. It’s good to know who they are."
Alex could only nod in acceptance.
"What are you doing here, Your Majesty?" Ronron asked.
The Staff God shrugged for a moment. "I’m looking after this fool. He killed an important core disciple of the Silent Night Hall, and now they’re out for blood against him. I had to come to keep him safe."
Alex could only listen to her words with a strange look. It was just hard to see that a God would be willing to look after a youngster in any capacity for such a simple event as the opening of the Red Heaven Realm. But then, who was he to decide what was simple and what was not?
The Staff God turned toward her junior and gestured toward Alex. "Do you know who that is?" she asked.
Han Zhaofeng shook his head. He could tell Alex was someone important, but beyond that, he knew nothing. "Some sort of Sentinel?"
The woman laughed. "He’s not a Sentinel. Just sense his cultivation base. He’s weaker than you are."
Han Zhaofeng turned toward Alex, a little curious. He was surprised to learn that Alex was in fact quite weak. But then, the fact that he had survived the attacks of the Divinity earlier made no sense to him.
"Do you want to challenge him?" the Staff God asked him.
Han Zhaofeng was far too curious to not do so. He nodded and challenged Alex.
Alex paused for a moment and nodded. "I will accept the challenge. And if you accept my condition, I will choose the challenge you wish for me to participate in."
"I just want a regular fight," the young man said. "What condition do I have to accept?"
"Just one," Alex said. "You will refer to me henceforth as the Sun God."
The Staff God’s eyebrows rose slightly before a faint smile overtook her face.
"Sun God?" the young man asked, before turning toward the Staff God, mouthing his question as to just what that was.
The Staff God didn’t give a proper explanation, but she gave just enough.
"It’s what he wants to become. A god of sun. Of fire and Yang," she said.
The young man was still confused. "I thought there already was one for that. Isn’t the Fire God just that?"
"He is," the Staff God said, saying nothing else.
The young man wanted answers, but since no one was going to give him any, he focused back on the battle at hand.
"Regular fight, right?"
"Regular," Alex confirmed.
"Alright," Han Zhaofeng said as he brought out his staff again and rushed forward to attack Alex. The staff was filled with Staff Aura as he slammed it down on Alex’s head.
Alex lifted his right arm at the last moment, blocking the strike.
The impact cracked the ground underneath Alex, creating a massive shockwave that spread for hundreds of meters all around.
Alex felt a subtle pain on his arm, but otherwise, there was nothing to indicate that he had even been hurt.
"That was strong," Alex said slowly. "If I really was as strong as my cultivation base suggested I was, I would’ve been in trouble."
Han Zhaofeng pulled back, staring at Alex with a look of confusion. The Staff God seemed a little impressed, but not a whole lot. She seemed to know these things already.
"How did you do that?" the young man asked.
"That’s what it means to be the Sun God, I suppose," Alex said.
The young man didn’t know what to say. He simply narrowed his eyes and raised his staff.
"Again!"
This time, Staff Qi filled the region around him, turning into a Staff Domain. As it all fully covered the young man, he launched forward.
Alex watched the trajectory of the staff, ignoring everything else as nothing could hurt him. Everything landed on him while he raised his right arm to block the staff again.
If once could be a coincidence, then Alex doing the same thing twice was proof enough that Alex was much stronger than him.
"Are you hiding your cultivation base by any chance?" he asked, before shaking his own head. "No. That can’t be right. I would’ve sensed it. In that case... is it your body cultivation?"
Alex raised one eyebrow and nodded. "You are correct."
"I see," Han Zhaofeng said, before putting his staff away and bringing out one star. He tossed it at Alex, giving up on their battle.
"It is my loss," he said before belatedly adding what he had been told to say. "Sun God."
Alex smiled softly and looked toward Ronron, who grinned. That was 1 out of 5000 people she had asked him to be called as such by.
"You like being called that, huh?" the Staff God said. "Just how long are you going to hold on to that title?"
Alex looked at her. "Well, if everything goes well, I will have it forever."
The Staff God laughed a little. "I think things going well for you will mean that you are still alive by the end of the day," she said. "Speaking of which, do you know when it is happening?"
Alex figured out what she was trying to ask about and shook his head. "I don’t know, but it should be around the same time as the meeting that the Sky God is setting up."
"Ah, right! That meeting. I nearly forgot about it," she said before turning toward Alex. "I look forward to seeing what you will do when the time comes."
