Dual Cultivation: Ying Yang is way to Chaos

Chapter 541: Unknown Faction

Chapter 541: Unknown Faction

Lin Feng knew it was true, he had seen how much the invisible mist had really affected her soul. In fact, the mist was only eroding her spiritual qi, not the soul, so as long as her spiritual qi was not completely drained, she would be fine.

He turned his attention to the mine and saw that they had entered a huge cavern after crossing the entrance.

Inside the cavern, which was as barren as barren could be, there were three cave openings. One was on the left, one was on the right, and one was in the middle.

"These are the three openings of the spirit mine, and each section is managed by a different Pavilion. The left one is the one which is under my watch, junior brother.."

Sun Xiurong said and began moving towards it, Lin Feng followed.

The cave was wide enough and seemed to have been dug to extract the spirit stones. There were small runes drawn on the walls to show the direction, and a small luminous crystal was placed just above them, which brightened the cave just enough for cultivators to see easily.

Soon, they came around another wide opening, and Lin Feng finally saw a group of cultivators and a small mound of collected spirit stones, with some other rare crystals gathered at the center.

The group became alert at their arrival before one man, who was at the Mid Stage of the Initiation Realm and was still wearing sect robes, came forward and bowed towards Sun Xiurong.

"Senior!"

Sun Xiurong gave a small nod.

"Where is the collapsed section?"

"It’s in the newly excavated branch, senior. These five were mining there, and this woman was the one whose strike caused it to happen.."

The man pointed towards the woman cultivator, who trembled slightly while looking at Sun Xiurong. It was evident that she was afraid of her.

Sun Xiurong understood very well why she showed such a reaction. The collapse of a mine was a very normal occurrence, and it could happen even when the miner hadn’t made any mistake.

However, since these cultivators were sect transgressors, they had no say in the matter. Given the damage a collapse could cause, they would be punished accordingly by their superiors, and currently, she was their superior.

Although till now, she hadn’t really punished anyone since it truly wasn’t their fault to begin with.

"Take me to the place.."

Sun Xiurong said while looking at the woman, making her flinch, but the woman nodded.

"Yes, senior.."

The woman began flying deeper into the cave, and Lin Feng and Sun Xiurong followed her.

The further they moved, the clearer it became that this mine was immensely large. The cave itself was widening slightly instead of narrowing.

Sun Xiurong’s next words confirmed Lin Feng’s assumption.

"This whole underground mine covers far more area than our own sect, junior brother. In fact, even after these years of mining, you might find some branches inside which have never been explored.."

Lin Feng nodded in understanding.

"Senior sister, it might not have been a mine in the first place.."

He was sure of this. He could see that only some areas of this mine truly had veins capable of producing spirit stones, so it being a mine was highly unlikely. Not to mention, this cave was becoming far wider than it needed to be for mining purposes.

"That is something the Elders agree with as well. There is even an assumption that this place was once the stronghold of a powerful faction. However, we have yet to find any evidence to confirm it.."

Lin Feng looked around and thought that the possibility of that assumption being true was very high.

Suddenly, he thought of something.

He activated his Chaotic Eyes and looked at the density of the blackish-red mist.

It was definitely far denser than before, and it looked like a massive haze instead of just faint mist now.

"How do you feel, junior brother? Still nothing?"

Sun Xiurong noticed him opening his visual technique, so she asked him through a spiritual transmission to avoid leaking his secret to the woman flying in front of them.

She could easily feel that the influence of this invisible aura had grown far stronger than what it had been when she had visited here last time. There was clearly some anomaly within the mine, and the sect had to take it seriously. Otherwise, who knew what kind of danger this mine truly possessed?

If something unexpected happened, the entire sect might be affected by it, and that would be a crippling disaster which would destroy the foundation of Mysterious Heaven Sect.

Lin Feng nodded," I don’t feel anything, senior sister, and it seems that I really won’t be affected by this invisible mist.."

Even as the mist got denser, the distance it maintained from him stayed the same, so it was obvious that it wasn’t going to touch him even in the deepest parts.

Sun Xiurong nodded while still being curious about why he wasn’t truly affected.

Soon, they arrived at another cavern, and this one was the largest Lin Feng had seen so far.

Unlike the barren passages they had crossed earlier, this cavern was completely different. It was almost like a hidden world.

A small waterfall poured down from an opening in the cavern ceiling, its clear water falling several dozen feet before forming a narrow stream that flowed through the cavern. The gentle sound of flowing water echoed throughout the otherwise quiet surroundings, giving the place an unusual sense of tranquility.

The stream wound its way through the cavern before disappearing into the distance beneath a massive rock formation.

Along both sides of the stream, spirit grass grew in abundance. Most of them were just ordinary spirit grass, but there were some ordinary spirit herbs too.

The spiritual qi here was also denser than in the passages they had crossed earlier, and it was obvious that there were more spirit veins here, or in a sense, unexplored ones which hadn’t been excavated yet.
