Chapter 660: Battle
"Watch out!" The disciples shouted and wielded their swords at the assailants that were coming for them.
The cultivators from the north pulled back their arms and they unleashed glowing wolves with their punches at the disciples.
Howl.
The glowing wolves gave out a howling sound while they attacked the disciples from different angles.
Disciples from the South Lin Sword Sect remained calm and they retaliated.
They swung their swords with a graceful move and glowing swans shot out from the blades of their swords.
Boom.
Explosions erupted when the glowing wolves and swans came into contact with each other.
As the debris kicked up by the explosion settled, the disciples had to face the cultivators from the north at a much closer distance.
The cultivators from the north, with their burly build, thought that they would have the upper hand over the disciples.
But they were surprised when the disciples coordinated well with each other.
When one of the cultivators from the north swung his arm at his opponent, another disciple would intervene and thrust the sword at him.
It was the same for the others.
The disciples from South Lin Sword Sect were much more experienced and capable than those from the Hong Lim Sect.
Being rogue cultivators before joining the South Lin Sword Sect had made them resilient and resourceful when it mattered for their survival.
Things were going even better for Lao Er and Ling Er.
Lao Er took out the wooden statue with carvings of bear, wolf and eagle on it.
Knowing how ruthless the cultivators from the north were, he didn’t wait before he used the most powerful Artifact he had.
It was a life and death situation which allowed for no mercy so it was best for him to do so right off the bat.
He pointed it at one of his opponents and the statue gave out a bright glow.
Roar.
A glowing bear appeared from the statue and it gave out a loud roar.
"What the hell?" The cultivator from the north, whom Lao Er was dealing with, had never seen something like it before.
He quickly directed his Spirit Qi to his arms and his tattoos gave out a glow.
Then, his body was engulfed in a bright glow, which was in the form of a wolf.
Whoosh.
The glowing bear lunged at him and swiped its paws at him.
He tried to raise his arms and block the paws from the glowing bear but couldn’t.
Crack.
The sounds of his forearm fracturing could be heard.
And before he could react, the glowing bear swiped its paw across his face.
Splatter.
The glowing protective cover couldn’t stop the attack and his face was ripped apart by the paw of the glowing bear.
Blood, flesh and skin could be seen in the air before the cultivator from the north was flung away from where he was.
The glowing bear gave out a roar and it didn’t stop, moving on to its next victim immediately.
Ling Er, on the other hand, moved gracefully around with the blue sphere in her hand.
Whenever there was a disciple in danger, she would use the blue sphere and activate it to protect the disciple.
Right in front of her, she saw one of the disciples on the ground and she quickly came to his rescue.
The blue sphere in her hand began giving out a blue glow.
Slowly the blue glow extended outwards and within an instant, Ling Er and the disciple were engulfed within a blue glowing sphere.
Dang.
When the kick from the cultivator hit onto the glowing blue sphere, it gave out a loud ring and the cultivator from the north gave out a loud cry in pain.
The resulting pain from his feet made the cultivator from the north hop for a few times, before he could walk normally again.
But he had to deal with other disciples from the South Lin Sword Sect by then.
They lunged at him together with their swords, aiming for his head, neck, waist and thighs.
The blades of their swords gave out a bright glow when they got nearer.
Dang!
The cultivator from the north could only choose to parry away the blades that were coming in for his head and neck.
Blood dripped out from his waist and thigh.
Swords were buried deep into his waist and thigh, but it was not over yet.
The disciples twisted the handles of their swords and sharp pain could immediately be felt by the cultivator from the north.
"Argh!" The pain made him arch back in a swift movement instinctively.
It was an opportunity that the other disciples couldn’t miss.
The other disciples quickly followed up and they plunged their swords into the neck and eyes of their opponent.
An even louder scream in pain could be heard while the cultivator from the north thrashed around and tried to get the disciples away from him.
But no matter how hard he tried, it was to no avail.
The disciples didn’t let go and they pushed their swords even deeper into the wounds as much as they could.
And after a few moments of struggling, the cultivator from the north dropped to his knees.
His head lowered before the strength went out from his body.
When the disciples drew out their swords from his body, it dropped and fell flat onto its face.
"Argh!"
"Curse you! The Crimson Wolf Lord shall make you pay!"
"Let me take out one of you before I die!"
All around within the vicinity, it was the same thing happening.
The disciples from the South Lin Sword Sect did their best and the cultivators from the north dropped dead slowly one after another.
"You think you’ve won? They are coming for you as we speak..." The cultivator from the north said and tried to spit at Lao Er.
But Lao Er wouldn’t give him the chance.
With a clean move, Lao Er severed the head of the man off his body.
Blood spurted out from the neck of the body before it fell over.
Lao Er frowned and thought about what the man had said.
He glanced at the surroundings and saw that some of the disciples were hurt while the others were already exhausted.
Even he had also used up much of his Spirit Qi in the battle.
And if there were more enemies incoming, they might not survive it this time.
But he didn’t have much time to think about it.
The earth under his feet started trembling.
