Chapter 659: Trap

Chapter 659: Trap

That moment of hesitation was a deadly mistake for them.

The white wolf standing on top of the big stone leaped from where it was and lunged at the senior martial brother among the Hong Lim Sect disciples.

"Senior martial brother!" The disciples shouted but they didn’t have any moments left to help their senior martial brother.

Men who were burly and wore fur appeared.

Their arms had tattoos which glowed brightly and before the disciples knew it, these men lunged at every one of them.

The disciples tried their best to stop the cultivators from the north but they were too fast for the disciples.

One of the disciples unleashed a glowing wave at his opponent with his Hong Lim Fist style, but his opponent didn’t even blink an eye.

His opponent let the glowing wave brush past his body within inches.

Then, in the next moment, his opponent, the cultivator from the north, was already in front of him.

The cultivator from the north raised his arms, clenched his fingers like a claw and thrust them at the Hong Lim Sect disciple.

When the claws grabbed onto the throat of the disciple, the cultivator from the north gave out a smirk.

Splatter.

Blood spurted out from the neck of the disciple when the cultivator from the north ripped out the throat of the disciple.

The disciple dropped and rolled on the ground with his hands holding onto his neck.

He thrashed around from the pain but it was to no avail.

The pain didn’t go away and the cultivator from the north moved on to his next target.

"Damn you!" The senior martial brother of the Hong Lim Sect disciples cursed when he tried to reach into his shirt for the jade pendant to alert the Captain.

But the white wolf was gnawing at his wrist and stopping him from doing so.

A cultivator from the north stood by and watched with a scornful look.

His head was lifted, with his arms crossed in front of his body.

"You..." The senior martial brother gritted his teeth and he tried to get near to the cultivator from the north.

But when he took a step forward, the cultivator from the north took out the whip he had that was slung on his belt.

Crack.

The whip gave out a blue glow and it cracked through the air when the cultivator from the north whipped at the waist of the senior martial brother.

Splatter.

Chunks of skin and flesh were ripped out from the waist of the senior martial brother by the whip.

The senior martial brother staggered for a few steps and he cried out in pain.

What an unfortunate day. He thought silently to himself while he glanced at the surroundings.

All around him, it was the same.

The Hong Lim Sect disciples were no match for the cultivators from the north.

What could he do now?

There were no other options left and the senior martial brother thought about Lao Er and Ling Er.

They were his only salvation now.

"Help me! I know you are there! Disciples from the South Lin Sword Sect, help me!" The senior martial brother shouted at the top of his lungs.

Miraculously, the cultivator from the north didn’t stop him and let him go on.

The whip that he was holding was swaying in the air, while he watched the Hong Lim disciples struggle and shout in pain.

...

"Hear that?" Lao Er raised his hands and his team stopped in their tracks.

The disciples behind him nodded their heads.

All of them moved their hands onto the handles of their swords.

"Should we go and help them?" One of the disciples asked.

Lao Er shook his head at him and listened to the cries of the Hong Lim Sect disciples in the distance.

It was not out of spite but knowing how ruthless these cultivators from the north were, it was odd to him that they allowed the Hong Lim disciples to cry for help and live for so long.

Lao Er thought that it was most likely a trap set by the cultivators from the north to lure them there, as if they were hunting them like animals.

"No, we stay where we are and get ready." He said to the other disciples and drew out his sword.

The other disciples didn’t hesitate and did the same.

Rustle.

Footsteps could be heard approaching and they held the handles of their swords tightly.

A sense of relief came over them when they saw that it was Ling Er and her team that had come over.

She heard what happened and she was afraid that Lao Er would go charging in.

Thankfully, he didn’t and she was glad for it.

"What’s the status?" Ling Er came up to Lao Er and asked but Lao Er put his finger on his lips, gesturing for her to stay in silence.

Ling Er quickly did so and drew out her sword.

Rustle.

Footsteps could be heard coming in all directions.

A man’s voice boomed in the air and said, "You think you can stay alive even if you didn’t fall for it?"

When the voice echoed through the slope, howls could be heard by Lao Er, Ling Er and the others.

Whoosh.

Glowing waves in the form of wolves shot out at Lao Er, Ling Er and the others.

Lao Er raised his sword and slashed at the glowing wolf with a slicing wave in retaliation.

Slice.

The slicing wave sliced the glowing wolf into halves and it dissipated.

Ling Er and the others did the same.

Some who weren’t at the same level of cultivation as Lao Er and Ling Er were not able to stop the glowing wolf and they were hit by it.

Drip.

The glowing wolves opened up wounds on their bodies and blood started dripping onto the ground from the wounds.

They gritted their teeth and held their swords tightly despite the pain that was coursing through their bodies.

It would be disastrous for them if they panicked and cried out in pain.

"Seems like these are harder to deal with." The voice boomed again and burly figures appeared from their covers.
