While driving, Ning Mei checked her phone once again. There was a text message from Gu Yeze stating the time of his jet’s landing. Ning Mei checked the current time, and she still had two hours left. Ning Mei leisurely drive while she played a song in the car.
In between, she passed a flower shop. Thinking of something, Ning Mei stopped her car by the roadside and got off the car. And she headed straight to the flowershop. Entering the shop, as expected it was decorated beautifully with various kinds of flowers. The whole store looked so colourful and was filled with a very sweet smell of fresh flowers. It had a peaceful vibe.
Ning Mei started going around the rows, looking at each beautiful flowers. Below each rack of was written their common name, scientific name, and the emotional significance of the flowers.
Just when she finished looking at a row of flowers, and was about to move to another one, an old man in his sixties came to her. " Good evening, Miss. Hopefully you are having a nice day? "
Ning Mei turned to the old man in surprise, as she did not look at him coming. She then smiled at him and said, "Good evening sir. Yes I am having. Hope you are doing good too. "
Then old man nodded at pretty girl and said, "Are you looking for flowers for your loved one? " Hearing the ’loved one’ word associated with Gu Yeze and her made her blush a little. She shyly nodded and the old man said, "I can tell that. I am the shop owner. "
Ning Mei said, "Really? Your shop is really beautiful. "
The old man smiled but there was a slight pain as well as fondness in his smile and he said, "This shop was my wife’s dream. "
" Was? " ,asked Ning Mei in confusion.
" She is no more." He said, with a sad smile on his face.
" Oh, I am so sorry. You must miss her very dearly then. " Ning Mei said.
The man nodded and said, " Yes. I do. Very much. She had always loved flowers. And she spent her life’s last days in this shop. We have very fond memories in this store. Memories that are the most expensive in the whole world for me. So, after she passed away, to avoid my loneliness, I started looking after the store. So that I can always feel her presence between these flowers and relive our memories. "
Ning Mei smiled listening to the old men’s story. She could still sense his love for his wife. She must have been a lucky lady. Her husband still love me her after she is no more. Thinking of that, she wished that may hers and Gu Yeze’s love also bloom like this.
The man then said, " Oh, I am so sorry. I was again lost in my own world. Please tell me what kind of flowers do you want ? "
Ning Mei chuckled and said, " No. It’s completely fine. But, I am confused and I have no idea at all what kind of flowers do I want. I just need that is something special and unique, just like him . "
The old man looked around and nodded in understanding. He then asked, "If I may ask, are you buying flowers for your boyfriend, young lady? "
Ning Mei shook her head and said, " No. It is for my husband. "
The old man looked surprised and asked, " You are already married? You look young. People nowadays take time to get married. "
Ning Mei just shrugged smilingly and said, " I just found the right person. And I did not want to lose him at any cost. "
The old man looked in amazement. He could see this girl loved her husband a lot. He then told her, "Come with me young lady. Let me show you something. "
He then brought Ning Mei to a row of small flowers that bloomed in bunches. They were of different varieties of colour, like blue, pink and purple. Ning Mei were amazed by those flowers. They looked so pretty.
She looked at the name of the flower, with was called, ’ Hydrangea ’ , and it’s scientific name was , ’Hydrangea macrophylla ’ . This flower was a native of Japan and it signifies, ’ Togetherness. ’
It has a rich honey- vanilla scent to it, that smelled so pleasant.
The old man asked, " You like these? "
Ning Mei nodded and said, "Yes. They are so pretty and they smell so sweet. "
" Yes. They are called, Hydrangea, and they are the significance of togetherness and prosperity. Come with me, let me show you something more. " He said and took her to the row beside it.
There was a whole row filled with small flowers of variety of colours with a yellow centre. The flowers had such fresh smell, just like spring. Sweet, but a little tangy flavoured type.
She looked for its name. It was called Primrose. It’s scientific name was Primula vulgaris, and it was found in places of Africa and Southwest Asia. And it signified, Undying love.
Ning Mei was so fasinated with these flowers, she at once told the store keeper, "Sir, can you please make me a beautiful bouquet of Hydrangea and Primroses. And I want to add a note too."
The old man readily agreed as if he was already expecting it and said, "Of course. " Then he go to work. He collected flowers of different colours from both the rows and then made a beautiful bouquet of it. The blue and pink Hydrangea in the centre surrounded by different colours of Primroses. It looked so colourful and pretty.
Ning Mei then wrote something on the note and smiled with satisfaction. She asked for its cost and paid for it. After that she took the bouquet in her hands and thought , " A life together with prosperity and undying love for each other. "
