“Huo Yunting! You’re a jerk!” Her hands dove deep into his hair. This made Huo Yunting even more uptight which caused her breasts more pain.

Lu Zhaoyang gasped and quickly retracted her hands. As she turned her head and looked at the door, she asked, “How the hell did you get in?”

“I just walked right in.” Huo Yunting looked up in the dark with an evil smile. He finally got his hands on her tonight after so long.

“How was it possible? I locked the door, apparently!” She trembled involuntarily from his kisses. “Please, don’t…”

“I went to Lin Yazhi, telling her that Xuxu was looking for you, wanting to sleep with you. So, she gave me the key right away,” Huo Yunting said with a faint smile on his lips and then continued with his unfinished business. He was pleased with getting his way.

The best thing was a thing that was hard to get. Huo Yunting had been fantasizing about her all this while, and now, he was desperate to penetrate her. The last time they did it, she was hurt. So, he had to be extra careful tonight.

“Why is she not sleeping yet?” Lu Zhaoyang groaned inwardly at Lin Yazhi’s undependability.

Relax my foot! Lu Zhaoyang said to herself. But before she could do anything, Huo Yunting had lifted up her thigh and slid inside her effortlessly.

“Fine. I will support you.” Rolling aside, Lu Bai did not feel like talking as the headache had gotten the better of him. His reply sounded casual as if he did not mean it.

“Did you just say you’d—support me?” She needed reassurance. Apart from him being a high-risk individual, Lu Bai was rich and was definitely an ideal husband candidate—he had a car and house, and most importantly, both his parents had passed away.

“I can tolerate the fact you are not a virgin. So, when are you going to transfer your assets to me?” Yan Se had demonstrated that she was the epitome of a gold-digger.

“I just said I would support you, not marry you.” Lu Bai scorned with his back to her.

“You are really pathetic; it was just a joke. Anyway, thank you for today!” Yan Se shot him a glance.

If it were not for him steering the car into the guardrail while guarding her head and upper body, the truck would have hit them head-on and she would not just walk away with a simple concussion.

“You’re welcome.”

The doctor and nurses had left after checking on them, and now, there were only two of them in the ward.

They were supposed to sleep but Yan Se could not because the anesthetic had lapsed. She felt extremely uncomfortable because she could not roll her body with her plastered leg raised.

“Lu Bai…” She suddenly switched the bedside lamp on. “I need to go to the toilet.”

Lu Bai sat up and looked at her right leg.

Yan Se was instantly anxious. “Don’t look me like this. It’s just the call of nature!”

“I…” Lu Bai looked hesitant. “It’s not that I don’t want to help, but how?”

“Carry me up.”

“With only one hand? Please don’t overestimate me by underestimating your weight. I’d better call the nurses.” He raised his hand to press the bell while speaking. He would request to be transferred to another room tomorrow as this woman was troublesome.

“You are quite the gentleman. I am only going to the toilet, not molesting you.” Yan Se chuckled. But when the lipstick in the car came to mind, she found it hard to smile.

Soon, two nurses came to help her answer the call of nature.

When she was finally back in her bed, Lu Bai had fallen asleep. She felt extremely uncomfortable with bandages all over her body and only fell asleep around twilight.

In her sleep, she seemed to hear Lu Bai speaking.

“Please get me a new ward. I’m sorry for the trouble.” Lu Bai was heard saying to the nurse on morning duty.

“No!”

The two of them turned to look at Yan Se, who slowly opened her eyes and firmly shook her head.

“Lu Bai, how could you abandon me?”

There was a purpose that they were arranged in the same ward. After all, it was not safe for Lu Bai to be alone and they could watch each other’s back by staying together. Even if she agreed, her boss would necessarily not.

“Are you sure you can protect me right now?” He glanced at her, lest she forgot that she was the one pleading for help last night.

“You have to understand; this is just temporary.” Yan Se looked at him with her big eyes, which shed tears from the yawning earlier. “I will feel very insecure if you go.”
