Walker Of The Worlds

Chapter 3820: No Directions

Chapter 3820: No Directions

The twins had spent nearly the entire night laughing, racing around the Sleepscape and inventing increasingly bizarre games whose rules seemed to change every few seconds.

At one point they had declared the Violet Mystic Life Tree to be a giant mushroom and spent nearly an hour trying to convince Ashy that it should be harvested.

And then Ashy had somehow encouraged them further by claiming mushrooms could indeed grow leaves if they cultivated long enough, forcing Lin Mu and Little Shrubby to stop the two serpents before they attempted to dig around the Tree’s roots.

Eventually the excitement had faded.

Now, nearly eleven in the morning, the twins still lay curled together beneath one of the large branches of the tree, occasionally twitching their tails while mumbling incoherent nonsense in their sleep.

"They’re taking much longer than I expected," Lin Mu muttered.

Little Shrubby stretched lazily nearby before glancing toward the sleeping serpents.

"They played really hard."

"They also ate a tiny fragment."

"Maybe they need more sleep because they’re growing stronger?"

Lin Mu considered that possibility. The cursed crystals might truly have benefited them in ways they had yet to discover. Nearly another ten minutes passed before Xiao Yin slowly opened one eye.

"...Master..." She blinked several times. "My head feels funny."

Xiao Yang groaned beside her.

"I think..." He looked around in confusion. "...I chased the moon."

Ashy immediately burst into laughter. "You challenged a tree to a race."

"I did?"

"You lost."

"I... don’t remember."

The twins exchanged confused looks before suddenly burying their heads beneath their coils in embarrassment.

"We acted silly?"

Lin Mu smiled. "A little."

"You dug three trenches. Then you tried climbing upside down" Little Shrubby snorted. "You also insisted Ashy was actually two birds standing on each other’s shoulders."

The twins slowly became even redder beneath their scales. "...Really?"

"Really."

Ashy laughed so hard she nearly fell off the branch she was perched upon. "I’ve never laughed that much before."

The twins groaned together. "We’re never eating those crystals again."

Lin Mu simply nodded. "For today."

Both serpents looked up hopefully. "...Today?"

"You can have another tiny piece later."

Their eyes immediately brightened again.

"Much later."

The excitement instantly disappeared.

"...Oh."

Within another few minutes, the effects seemed to catch up with them all at once.

Xiao Yin yawned enormously. "So sleepy..."

Xiao Yang barely managed to curl into a comfortable position before falling asleep where he lay. The twins began quietly snoring moments later.

Lin Mu finally felt relieved. "They’re back to normal."

Little Shrubby nodded. "I’ll keep watching them."

"Good." Lin Mu withdrew his consciousness from the Sleepscape.

His eyes slowly opened within his room. The sunlight had already shifted considerably. Judging by its angle, it was now close to half past eleven. He quietly listened but heard nothing.

No footsteps approached, no one knocked, no disciple called his name and not even an elder arrived.

"Huh..." Lin Mu blinked.

He had honestly expected someone to show up first thing in the morning.

Yesterday had ended rather chaotically. High Elder Shatter Peak had practically abducted him before any administrative formalities could be completed. He still lacked identification tokens, contribution records registration, cultivation manuals and countless other things every recruit normally received.

Someone should have remembered.

Yet... Nothing.

Lin Mu waited another several minutes but no one turned up. He finally let out a helpless sigh. "So this is the Wild Peak..."

Yesterday’s banquet suddenly made a lot more sense. This place truly operated differently from every other sect. If he had joined almost any orthodox sect in the Immortal Realm, someone would have arrived before sunrise with a detailed schedule spanning the next several months.

Instead... He appeared to have been completely forgotten.

Lin Mu climbed off the bed. "I suppose I’ll have to figure things out myself."

He left the room before walking into the corridor. The building felt surprisingly empty and every door stood open almost carelessly. Most rooms had already been vacated. Even the courtyard outside contained no disciples whatsoever.

The enormous trees gently swayed overhead while birds flew between their branches, though no signs of yesterday’s celebration remained. Lin Mu glanced toward several nearby buildings.

Those appeared equally deserted.

"They’ve all gone somewhere," he murmured.

"Training," Xukong guessed.

Lin Mu nodded instinctively.

"Most likely."

A soft chuckle echoed from within the ring.

"Or eating."

Lin Mu stopped walking.

After thinking about it for several seconds, he nodded again. "...Probably that."

Considering everything he had witnessed yesterday, eating seemed equally probable.

Following the familiar paths through the buildings, he eventually arrived at the great dining hall where yesterday’s feast had taken place. Unlike the residential area, this building remained lively.

The moment he stepped inside, rich aromas filled the air. Freshly cooked beast meat, Immortal grain porridge, steamed spirit vegetables and roasted birds along with various soups simmering inside enormous cauldrons.

Several disciples still occupied a handful of tables while chatting loudly. Many more empty plates covered nearby tables, making it obvious that breakfast had been much busier earlier. One broad shouldered disciple immediately spotted him.

"Junior Bull!" He enthusiastically waved. "Come!"

"Breakfast!" Another disciple grinned. "The most important meal of the day!"

Little Bull’s eyes lit up naturally. "Food!"

He hurried over before sitting down without the slightest hesitation. The servants immediately recognized him. Word had already spread throughout the Wild Peak regarding the newest disciple’s appetite.

Several servants exchanged knowing looks before disappearing into the kitchens. Moments later they returned carrying entire barrels filled with food. One barrel contained steamed immortal grain rice and another held roasted beast meat.

Several more contained soup, vegetables and fresh flatbread.

The servants placed everything before Little Bull with practiced efficiency. "Please enjoy."

Little Bull smiled brightly. "Thank you!"

He immediately began eating while the disciples around him nodded approvingly.

"Good posture."

"He eats properly."

"No hesitation."

"Excellent."

One muscular woman enthusiastically pointed with an entire roasted beast leg. "See? I told you yesterday. He’s definitely one of us."

Lin Mu almost laughed internally. Apparently eating alone remained a point of evaluation within the Wild Peak.
