Chapter 3819: Shepherding The Twins

Chapter 3819: Shepherding The Twins

Lin Mu stored every remaining crystal securely within the ring.

He intended to study them later. For now, there was no need to expose anyone else to them.

"Let’s head back."

"Okay!" Little Shrubby happily returned to his full size.

His body expanded into his majestic form within moments, crimson fur shimmering beneath the moonlight. Lin Mu climbed onto his back as the great beast crouched slightly before launching himself forward.

Unlike earlier, he deliberately restrained his speed. The journey back remained incredibly fast, though no longer so overwhelming that the surrounding scenery disappeared entirely. The forests beneath them rolled by like endless green waves under the pale moon.

Immortal beasts occasionally lifted their heads after sensing Little Shrubby’s presence, though by the time they reacted he had already disappeared beyond the horizon. Several powerful roars echoed from distant mountains.

Territorial beasts clearly disliked another predator passing through their domains.

Little Shrubby merely ignored them.

"They’re noisy tonight."

"They’re just announcing themselves."

"They can announce all they want." The liger yawned. "They’re too slow."

Within another two hours they finally reached the outer regions surrounding Wild Peak.

Lin Mu climbed down. "You should head back too."

Little Shrubby nodded obediently. "What about the twins?"

"They’re still drunk."

The liger laughed. "I’ll keep an eye on them."

Lin Mu gave several more instructions. "Watch how long the intoxication lasts."

"I will."

"And keep them away from the Trees and the medicinal herbs."

Little Shrubby immediately became serious. "I won’t let them destroy anything."

Lin Mu trusted him. Despite his playful personality, Little Shrubby became very dependable whenever important matters arose.

"I’ll let all of you out again once they’ve calmed down. I’ll join you later as well."

"Understood." With that, Little Shrubby also disappeared into the Sleepscape.

Lin Mu quietly made his way back toward the disciple quarters. The mountain remained peaceful. Occasionally he passed another disciple walking along distant paths beneath the enormous trees, though none paid him much attention.

Everyone seemed accustomed to members wandering about at odd hours. The Wild Peak truly differed from every sect Lin Mu had experienced. Rules existed and schedules existed, yet hardly anyone appeared obsessed with enforcing them.

As long as one did not actively disturb others, people generally minded their own business. And that suited Lin Mu perfectly.

His mind drifted back toward Emperor Rock. He had explored an entire forbidden zone during his very first night inside the sect. Although it had failed to reveal the hidden vault, it had still yielded unexpected rewards.

Pure Cursed Qi Crystal alone would likely interest countless experts if its existence became known.

"One forbidden zone, already investigated," Lin Mu thought. "There are still dozens more."

If he maintained this pace, eventually something would reveal itself. The vault had remained hidden for countless years. As such patience would be his greatest ally.

By the time he reached his room, barely half the night had passed. Everything remained exactly as he had left it. No one had entered and no one had searched for him. Satisfied, Lin Mu lay upon the bed.

Instead of sleeping normally, his consciousness entered the Sleepscape. The moment he arrived, he understood why Little Shrubby had not sounded completely confident earlier. Xiao Yin and Xiao Yang were racing across the vast landscape while laughing hysterically.

Neither serpent followed anything resembling a straight path. They zigzagged wildly through the air before diving toward the ground and shooting upward again.

Ashy flew overhead. And rather than stopping them... She appeared to be enjoying herself immensely.

"Xiao Yang takes the lead!"

"No!"

"Xiao Yin caught up!"

"Ooh!"

"Excellent turn!"

She somehow sounded like an excited announcer watching a sporting event. Little Shrubby, meanwhile, looked considerably less enthusiastic. He continuously intercepted the twins whenever they approached valuable spiritual herbs.

Every few moments he would bump one of them sideways with his head before they could crash into another cultivation field.

"Left!"

"Go left!"

"No, not the Immortal Apple Tree!"

He darted across the landscape with surprising agility despite his size. The Apple Tree itself gently rustled its leaves, almost seeming amused by the spectacle unfolding beneath it.

Lin Mu sighed deeply. "So this is what you’ve been dealing with."

"Master!" Little Shrubby looked over with visible relief. "They’ve almost reached the herbs and the Pear Trees six times already!"

Ashy cheerfully landed on Lin Mu’s shoulder. "I’ve been keeping score."

"I noticed."

"Xiao Yin is winning."

Lin Mu looked toward the twins. "They’re racing?"

"They don’t know they’re racing." Ashy nodded proudly. "But they’re definitely racing."

Lin Mu closed his eyes for a moment, then he rolled up his sleeves. "Looks like I’ll be helping."

For the next several hours, the peaceful Sleepscape transformed into an unusual scene. Little Shrubby intercepted one serpent while Lin Mu redirected the other and Ashy enthusiastically announced imaginary scores that changed every few minutes.

Meanwhile Xiao Yin and Xiao Yang continued laughing, weaving around trees, diving through shadows and occasionally attempting to chase each other’s tails.

It was less like controlling two powerful immortal beasts.

It felt far more like trying to herd two impossibly energetic children who possessed the strength to level mountains.

The following morning arrived far more quietly than Lin Mu had expected.

Soft rays of sunlight filtered through the enormous leaves of the ancient trees surrounding the disciples’ residence, painting shifting patterns across the stone floor of his room. The mountain itself had long since awakened.

In the distance, he could hear the muffled roars of immortal beasts challenging one another, the rhythmic impacts of fists striking stone from somewhere deeper within the Wild Peak, and the occasional laughter of disciples echoing between the forests.

It was an energetic morning filled with life, yet strangely, no one came looking for him.

Lin Mu remained seated cross legged on the bed while a small portion of his consciousness stayed within the Sleepscape, watching over Xiao Yin and Xiao Yang. The twins had finally stopped their drunken rampage hours ago, though they still had not completely recovered.

He had honestly underestimated just how potent the Pure Cursed Qi Crystal had been.
