Virtual Idol in the Beast World: Five Clans Fight Over Me

Chapter 297 - 265: Ready at Any Time

Chapter 297: Chapter 265: Ready at Any Time

With that, he brought the peeled egg to Gu Ning’s lips.

Barto: "Did you wash your hands?!"

"Don’t worry, I’m clean all over." Leo winked his left eye at Gu Ning. "Ready for use anytime."

"Eat it yourself." Gu Ning pushed his hand away.

Leo dropped the egg into her congee. "How come you can only understand Cook’s beast language? That can’t be right. I’m from the Dog Clan, too."

Gu Ning was well-rested, her stomach no longer ached, and she finally had the energy to deal with this boisterous husky puppy. She placed two fingers on his forehead, pushing his ever-nearing face away. She gestured toward his humanoid form, "Humanoid WOOF WOOF, don’t understand."

Then she mimed a small puppy on the floor. "Beast-form WOOF WOOF, don’t understand."

Finally, she pointed at Cook. "Humanoid WOOF WOOF, understand."

When she finished, the living room fell silent.

Aside from Cook, the other three Beastmen were watching her gestures intently.

Gu Ning sensed the atmosphere had turned strange again. Her gaze swept over them before landing back on Leo’s face. She broke the silence, "Get it now?"

Leo blinked at her, gave an obedient nod, then shook his head. "One more time."

Seeing the puppy-dog eyes staring at her, full of earnest curiosity, Gu Ning was about to explain it again in more detail when she heard Barto say, "You’re bleeding."

Gu Ning’s first thought was that she’d bled through, and she stood up to check the cushion.

Nothing.

The period panties Alex had made for her were highly absorbent; she could wear them all night without the slightest leak. Their only drawback was how thick they were.

’If it’s not me, then who’s bleeding?’

Gu Ning looked up at the other Beastmen. Cook was focused on his meal, while Leo was still staring at her with wide eyes, waiting for her to repeat her demonstration and say the "WOOF WOOF" word again.

’He’d never thought a word used to describe the Dog Clan could be so... cute.’

Barto, propping his head up with one hand, watched her with amusement. "What did you stand up for?"

Gu Ning’s gaze searched for Vine, who was clutching his nose as he strode quickly out of the room.

After the door closed, Gu Ning paused for a moment before asking, "Is Wolf Team okay?"

’Wolf Team has been acting a little strange these past two days.’

Barto scoffed, his tone mocking. "What could be wrong with him? He’s just a little worked up. A bit of cold air to cool his head and he’ll be fine."

After finishing brunch, Gu Ning returned to her bedroom to get back to work.

Seeing a notification for an unread message on her terminal, Gu Ning tapped it open. It was from Cyril:

[Miss Gu Ning, are you still busy?]

Gu Ning casually scrolled up and saw that Cyril had sent her quite a few messages. Most were about her work, but one was a meticulously edited version of the text accompanying her photography.

After looking over the attachment, she quickly replied.

[Sorry, Adjutant Cyril. I’ve been on the road for the past few days and just got settled.]

[Was the draft no good?]

Seeing all the circled sections in the attachment, Gu Ning ran a hand through her hair in frustration.

It wasn’t that she couldn’t write copy, but her current proficiency in the common tongue was, at best, at a Beastman’s elementary school level. She had to rely almost entirely on—

A few seconds later, Cyril replied:

[The draft is usable. Your photography is excellent. There were just a few small issues with the word order, so I took the liberty of revising it for you.]

Gu Ning: [Thank you! (starry-eyed puppy)]

Cyril: [You’re welcome, it’s my job. (smile) I’ll review your drafts from now on. However, when you have a moment, we should talk so I can better understand what you’re trying to convey and make more accurate edits for you.]

Gu Ning:

[Okay.]

[Should we talk now?]

’This draft has already been approved, and next month’s deadline is a long way off. We probably don’t need to talk about work for now.’

Cyril:

[Yes.]

[You can call me whenever it’s convenient for you.]

No one was bothering her at the moment, so it was the perfect time. She sat down on the edge of her bed and typed:

[Are you free to talk now?]

Cyril:

[I am. Your work is my work, so feel free to call me anytime.]

After reading his message, Gu Ning immediately placed the call—

"This is the expense report for the West Wall repairs."

Cyril placed the documents that needed a signature in front of Andrew.

"Here is the information on the personnel in charge—"

Cyril’s voice trailed off as his gaze fell upon the incoming call on his terminal.

Andrew looked up at him.

"My apologies, Admiral." Cyril raised his wrist, tapping his terminal. "It’s a call from Miss Gu Ning."
