Virtual Idol in the Beast World: Five Clans Fight Over Me

Chapter 295 - 265: Ready to Use

Chapter 295: Chapter 265: Ready to Use

Gu Ning had an exceptionally peaceful and comfortable sleep.

It was so nice not to have to look at those scripts that gave her a headache and strained her eyes. It was as satisfying as a sudden day off from school.

The painkillers Philinos gave her were great, too. Her stomach basically stopped hurting after taking them. ’Does this medicine have a sleep-inducing effect?’ she wondered.

She took one after dinner and got sleepy not long after. She had drifted off while editing her video.

Gu Ning opened her terminal and checked the time: 10:13.

The terminal screen was still on the editing page. This was the "material" she was preparing for Idelos. She had fallen asleep too early last night and hadn’t gotten much editing done. ’If I push myself today,’ she thought, ’I should be able to finish it before tomorrow.’

Gu Ning closed the terminal, threw back the covers, and got out of bed. She stretched her body, moved her arms and legs, casually ruffled her hair a couple of times, and grabbed a new period panty, ready to go wash up.

The moment she opened her bedroom door, she saw a certain aloof captain who had been standing guard outside turn his head to look at her.

"Good morning, Captain Bird," Gu Ning greeted Philinos, feeling cheerful.

After a good night’s sleep, all her bodily functions felt like a rebooted machine, running perfectly. Her mind and body felt much more refreshed and comfortable.

Philinos’s gaze swept over the little female’s messy hair and flushed face, finally landing on her hazy, moist eyes. He said slowly, "Morning."

After speaking, he averted his gaze and, without looking at her, asked, "Breakfast. What do you want to eat?"

His indifferent demeanor made it seem as if the person who had so earnestly asked her if she smelled good yesterday was a completely different bird.

Gu Ning, however, was gradually getting used to his strange personality. After hearing him curse out Leo, and considering the flowers he’d secretly given her before, she knew he wasn’t as cold as he appeared. ’He probably just isn’t good at interacting with people.’

"Anything’s fine," Gu Ning replied, glancing toward the living room.

The living room was empty. Even that noisy husky wasn’t around. ’No wonder I slept so soundly. Philinos’s contribution was truly indispensable; he said he wouldn’t let anyone into my bedroom, and he really didn’t even let a single dog in.’

However, when she came out after washing up, the living room was once again as lively as it had been yesterday.

Barto, Cook, and the other two captains were all there, but Philinos was gone. ’Did he go to rest?’

When the Beastmen saw her come out, their gazes lingered on her for a few moments, silently assessing her condition. Seeing the little female’s rosy complexion and that her spirits were much better than yesterday, they all looked away and returned to what they were doing with peace of mind.

Gu Ning found their lively yet silent atmosphere indescribably strange. Before she could think too much about it, Cook rushed over, eagerly and happily hugging her and spinning her in a circle.

Gu Ning ruffled the little puppy’s head and asked with a smile, "Where’d you go play?"

Cook: "WOOF!"

"Oh~" Gu Ning cooed. ’So Barto really did take him out for a walk.’ She stroked his somewhat messy fur. The puppy’s fur seemed to have been wiped down before he came inside, but she could still feel a chill from it. ’I have no idea how long he was playing outside.’

Gu Ning wanted to see the view outside the window, but she couldn’t see anything.

After the gunshot from an unknown source the day before yesterday, the window had been sealed shut with some kind of heavy-duty tape, leaving only a small gap at the top to let in light.

However, according to the built-in weather forecast on her terminal, the weather for the next few days would be good—either sunny or cloudy, with no rain or snow. ’Unfortunately, I can’t go out until my period is over.’

Cook yipped and woofed, chattering away at her. Gu Ning responded to him as she walked toward the dining table.

Barto and the others were setting out breakfast. The aroma of food filled the living room, tantalizing Gu Ning’s taste buds, and her stomach chimed in with a cooperative growl.

Hearing her stomach growl, Leo, who was lying on the sofa and staring at her without even blinking, spoke up. "Can you understand what he’s saying?"

’This little female is from the Snake Clan,’ he thought. ’She can’t even speak the common tongue well, but she can understand the primitive language of the Beastified Dog Clan. That means she’s spent a fair amount of time with this little puppy.’

Leo watched her and Cook’s interaction with great interest, and also a hint of jealousy.

Gu Ning said, "A little bit."

Leo chuckled. "You’re messing with me again." ’Her conversation with Cook is so smooth, there’s no way she only understands a little bit. Although, I can’t understand some of the things she says. Is it a dialect from some remote branch of the Snake Clan?’

"I’m not."

Gu Ning said this as she walked over to Barto. Looking at the table of light but lavish breakfast dishes, she nudged the silent little fox who was arranging the food with her elbow and asked, feigning ignorance, "Did you make this?"

’After eating so many of the little fox’s meals, how could I not recognize his cooking by smell alone?’
