Chapter 664: There’s a Problem with Grandma’s Medicine
Chapter 664: Chapter 664: There’s a Problem with Grandma’s Medicine
A faint smile touched Renee Jennings’s lips when she heard the black cat’s thanks. "You’re welcome."
"Host, thank you so much!" Matcha Head breathed a sigh of relief, having resolved a major issue. "If you ever come to Qyria Island, you have to let me know! I’ll treat you to seafood and give you a free haircut!"
[A free haircut? That’s hilarious.]
[Is that the extent of the owner’s generosity? Are haircuts even the most expensive service at a salon?]
Matcha Head spotted the viewers’ comments and quickly corrected himself. "My mistake! I meant all salon services, for free!"
"Well, thank you in advance, Matcha." Renee Jennings smiled, her lips pressed together. "Oh, and I’m leaving you in charge of making sure Blondie feeds the stray cats."
"No problem." Matcha Head agreed solemnly. Knowing he had taken up a lot of time, he grinned. "Alright, I’m logging off now. Goodbye, Host! Goodbye, everyone!"
After logging off, he started sending tips, gifting three Angel Wings in a row.
[Matcha Head: Sorry, that’s all I can tip for now. I need to save some money to help that troublesome kid Blondie feed the strays.]
A faint smile bloomed in Renee’s eyes. "That’s very thoughtful of you, Matcha."
[I hope he keeps his word and provides food for the strays for three months. He can’t miss a single day!]
[I’m not worried. If he breaks his promise, Boss Black Cat has its own ways of dishing out punishment!]
[Boss Black Cat is a legend!]
"Everyone, please wait a moment." Renee got up and moved away from the camera.
As soon as she was gone, Blueberry scooted up to the camera, staring at the bullet comments on the screen, but he couldn’t make heads or tails of them.
Frustrated, he lifted a paw and batted at the phone.
[LMAO, why is Blueberry suddenly throwing a tantrum?]
[Is our adorable baby Blueberry in a bad mood?]
When Renee returned with her coffee, Blueberry was just walking out of the study.
She glanced at the comments and raised an eyebrow. "Was Blueberry throwing a fit just now? I’ll ask him what’s wrong after the stream."
Renee took a few sips of coffee. Instead of rushing to connect with the next person, she brought up her homepage to find the pinned posts about Young Miss Sawyer and Uncle Victor’s daughter, Cherie.
"For anyone new to the stream, feel free to check out the pinned posts on my homepage. If you think I can help with anything, you can send me a private message."
"Alright, let’s get back to the call-ins."
As if by tacit agreement, the audience started spamming "Happy New Year" in the comments.
Renee chuckled. "Three, two, one!"

"Evening Maple, welcome." Renee read the user’s ID aloud as she sent the connection request.
A woman in her sixties appeared on the split-screen. Her ear-length bob was tucked neatly behind her ears, but her face was haggard and sallow, and she looked completely drained of energy.
"Hello, ma’am," Renee greeted her softly.
Evening Maple pressed her pale lips together and forced a smile. "Hello, Host."
[The lady’s complexion doesn’t look good. Is she feeling unwell?]
[Yeah, I think her face is a little pale, too. Please take care of yourself, ma’am!]
Renee’s thoughts mirrored the comments. Her brow furrowed slightly as she asked with concern, "Ma’am, are you feeling unwell?"
Evening Maple nodded, speaking slowly. "Host, I am a bit dizzy. It’s because my dog has been misbehaving. Whenever I try to take my medicine, he snatches it away to play with."
[Sigh, that perfectly illustrates the old saying—some dogs come to repay a debt of kindness, and others come to collect one.]
[What a bold dog, playing with anything and everything!]
[That dog just hasn’t been disciplined enough!]
Having been through so many strange cases, Renee instinctively felt the dog wouldn’t be snatching Evening Maple’s medicine for no reason.
Just as she was thinking this, Evening Maple’s voice came through again. "Host, I was hoping you could talk to my dog for me. Tell him to stop snatching my medicine. I have to take my high blood pressure pills every day. I’ve missed them for a day or two now, and I feel so dizzy and a little short of breath."
As she spoke, she raised a hand to press her temples, as if trying to push the discomfort away.
[You can’t just stop taking blood pressure meds!]
[Ma’am, if you’re not feeling well, you need to go to the hospital right away!]
"Ma’am, what city are you in?" Renee asked.
Evening Maple: "I’m in Zenvia."
Renee: "Would you mind sending me your full address? If there’s an emergency, we’ll be able to get help to you quickly."
After all, the woman looked to be in really bad shape.
"Okay, I’ll send it to you." After sending her address, Evening Maple flipped her camera, pointing it at the Golden Retriever in the corner. "Buddy, come over to Grandma."
"WOOF! Not going!" Sunny was very resistant.
Seeing that he wouldn’t move, Evening Maple coaxed him gently, "Buddy, Grandma found a lady who can understand you. Come and have a chat with her, okay?"
Hearing this, the previously reluctant Buddy’s eyes suddenly lit up. "WOOF? She can understand woof? For real?"
Renee said gently, "It’s true, Buddy. Why have you been snatching Grandma’s blood pressure medicine?"
"WOOF! There’s a reason!" Sunny, who had been squatting in the corner, finally walked over to Evening Maple’s side, shoving his big head right in front of the phone.
Evening Maple laughed, amused. "Hold on, let Grandma adjust the camera."
Sunny stared at Renee on the screen and barked excitedly, "WOOF WOOF WOOF! Lady, I snatch Grandma’s medicine because I’m afraid Grandma will die!"
Hearing this, a grave expression immediately settled on Renee’s face. "Buddy, is there something wrong with Grandma’s medicine?"
[What??? The doggo isn’t being naughty, there’s something wrong with the medicine?]
[What’s wrong with the medicine?]
[Oh my god, what’s wrong with the medicine? Is someone trying to harm the grandmother?]
Sunny: "WOOF WOOF WOOF! Someone secretly swapped Grandma’s medicine! They said if Grandma takes this, her high blood pressure won’t get better, and it won’t be long before she’s dead and gone."
Renee’s expression darkened. "Who are ’they’?"
Sunny: "WOOF WOOF WOOF! It’s Grandma’s son and daughter-in-law! They’re bad!"
Renee’s brows knitted together, her expression growing even more grave. "Why would they do that?"
Sunny: "WOOF WOOF WOOF! I heard Grandma’s son and daughter-in-law talking! They said Grandma has a kilogram of gold. They know they want a bigger house, but she won’t give them the gold to help them out, so they had to ’figure something out’ on their own."
Sunny: "And the ’something’ they figured out was to secretly swap Grandma’s good medicine for bad medicine! If Grandma eats it, she’ll die, so of course I can’t let her eat it!"
Hearing Buddy barking up a storm, Evening Maple asked softly, "Host, what is Buddy saying so much about? Did he tell you why he keeps snatching my medicine?"
Renee looked at the frail, haggard woman on the split-screen, pressing her lips together as a flicker of hesitation crossed her eyes.
’If I just tell Evening Maple that her son and daughter-in-law swapped her blood pressure medicine... her body, already weakened from days without her proper medication, probably couldn’t handle such a blow.’
