Chapter 661: Revenge on the Blondie
Chapter 661: Chapter 661: Revenge on the Blondie
Renee spoke up again to remind him, "Bring some food with you, or they’ll run the second they see you."
"Got it, streamer." Matcha Head turned and walked into the convenience store next door. "What should I get for it to eat?"
Renee said calmly, "See if the convenience store has any cat food. If not, just grab a sausage."
"Let me take a look." Matcha Head searched carefully around the convenience store. "They have chicken breast for pets. Will that work?"
Renee replied, "That’s fine."
"Okay." Matcha Head grabbed two bags, paid, and walked out of the convenience store. He looked around and then exclaimed, "Oh no, the calico cat is gone!"
Renee said calmly, "Then just keep looking."
Matcha Head nodded. "Right, streamer."
[There’s something inexplicably funny about this guy, isn’t there?]
["Oh no!" "Right!" Hahaha]
[I’m really curious what he did to provoke a coordinated revenge plot from all the stray cats.]
Matcha Head had no time to read the comments; he was busy looking for the stray cats.
"I see them!" He finally spotted the clowder of stray cats in the alley next to the fruit stand.
Matcha Head’s face immediately lit up with joy as he stepped into the alley.
There were five or six stray cats in the alley. Some were lying around dozing, while others were busy grooming themselves.
Sensing Matcha Head’s approach, the cats instantly snapped to attention. They stopped dozing and grooming. Claws tensed, they arched their backs and retreated, their wide, round eyes filled with wariness.
The black cat at the head of the group let out a short, guttural meow. "Everyone, watch out! A male two-legger is approaching!"
Matcha Head dangled the bag of chicken jerky. "Don’t be nervous. I just came to bring you guys something to eat."
"MEOW! Don’t trust him!" the black cat cried out sharply. "MEOW! Male two-leggers are never that kind!"
Hearing the black cat’s words, Renee asked softly, "Why do you say male two-leggers are never that kind? Have they hurt you before?"
The black cat froze, its golden eyes staring at Matcha Head’s phone.
’A female two-legger? One that can actually understand what cats are saying?’
"MEOW? Who are you?" the black cat asked.
Renee said in a gentle voice, "My name is Renee Jennings. Do you know this male two-legger here?"
The black cat replied, "MEOW! We’ve seen him!"
Hearing this, Renee asked, "And has he ever bullied you?"
The black cat glanced at Matcha Head, then shook its head. "Meeow~ No."
When Matcha Head saw the black cat shake its head, he was so moved he was on the verge of tears. "Did you all see that? Sergeant Black Cat shook his head! He’s cleared my name! I’ve never bullied stray cats!"
[Then what’s the deal? The stray cats are really harassing you for no reason?]
[Dude, you’ve just got some seriously bad luck!]
[Stray cats rarely go out of their way to provoke humans. I still think there’s more to this story.]
Matcha Head glanced at the live comments, then looked at Renee with a pitiful expression. "Streamer, please, you have to ask him and get to the bottom of this. I’m begging you."
"Alright." Renee agreed, then turned back to the black cat. "Kitty, this two-legger says that you all have been pooping in front of his barbershop and leaving trash there. Can you tell me why?"
The black cat had only ever seen Matcha Head in the area; it had no idea he was connected to the barbershop. "MEOW? He’s at the barbershop too?"
Renee asked, "Kitty, you’ve seen him before, but you didn’t know he was one of the barbershop people, is that right?"
The black cat nodded again.
Seeing this, Matcha Head shouted excitedly, "Folks, did you see that? This proves I’m innocent! The stray cats pooping at the barbershop has absolutely nothing to do with me!"
[Okay, okay, we get it.]
[So he really is innocent.]
The clever black cat was also starting to understand what was going on.
It started meowing rapidly. "We’ve been pooping at the barbershop and bringing trash there for a reason. It has nothing to do with this two-legger."
Renee chuckled softly. "And what’s the reason, kitty?"
The black cat replied, "MEOW MEOW MEOW!!! There’s a male two-legger inside the barbershop, Blondie. He’s the absolute worst!"
Renee’s brow furrowed slightly. "Did he bully you?"
The black cat nodded its head vigorously. "MEOW! He went way too far!"
Renee asked, "What did he do?"
The black cat began, "Meow..."
It was raining hard that day, and the barbershop was empty. With nothing to do, one of the employees, Blondie, was squatting by the entrance having a smoke.
The stray cats were taking shelter from the rain under the awnings of the barbershop and the convenience store.
An employee from the convenience store also came out for a smoke and said to Blondie, "Hey, check out those stray cats. They’re actually pretty cute. Surprised nobody’s taken them home."
"Cute?" Blondie glanced over, his face twisting into a look of disgust. "They’re ugly as sin. What’s so cute about them? Especially that pitch-black one. It’s just gross to look at."
"What’s gross about it?" the convenience store employee countered with a frown. "Don’t you think all-black cats look cool? I think they even have a cool name for them... ’spirit cats’ or something."
Blondie shrugged. "Not at all. It just looks like a big rat to me."
Hearing this, the black cat was so furious its fur practically stood on end.
Being compared to a rat, of all things, made it even more livid.
If its white cat girlfriend hadn’t held it back, it would have definitely taught Blondie a lesson.
The black cat tucked the incident away, nursing a grudge.
Not long after that, his white cat girlfriend broke up with him.
The black cat connected the breakup to that incident, and the more he thought about it, the more he seethed.
It would have been one thing for that damn Blondie to say it in front of the other cats, but to call him ugly in front of the girlfriend he’d just started dating!
The black cat was furious. He immediately called a meeting with his brothers and sisters of the stray cat community.
"Our leader is so handsome! How dare he say our leader is ugly! He’s despicable!"
"Leader, we can’t let him get away with this!"
"Exactly! That two-legger is too arrogant! We have to teach him a lesson!"
"..."
They were all in unanimous agreement: they had to get revenge on that damn Blondie.
A tabby cat suggested a plan. "He works at that barbershop, doesn’t he? Well, we’ll go there in the middle of the night, poop on his doorstep, and leave a bunch of stinky trash for him. We’ll stink him out!"
"Great idea! I’m in!"
"I agree, too! We must avenge our leader!"
"..."
And so, every night after the barbershop closed, the stray cats would bring trash to the entrance and, for good measure, leave a few droppings.
After hearing the entire story, Renee was momentarily speechless.
The black cat’s meowing finally subsided.
Matcha Head waited a moment before asking uncertainly, "Streamer, why’d you go quiet? What did Sergeant Black Cat say?"
Renee pursed her lips, hesitating for a second before asking, "Is there a guy who works at your shop with dyed-blond hair?"
"Yeah, there is." Matcha Head nodded. "We also have guys with red, purple, pink hair..."
Renee cut him off. "We’re looking for Blondie."
[So, it was Blondie who was harassing the stray cats?]
[So what exactly happened?]
"Blondie?" Matcha Head frowned. "Streamer, did Blondie harass the stray cats?"
’It wasn’t exactly harassment,’ Renee thought. After a moment, she said, "He offended Sergeant Black Cat with something he said."
