Chapter 632: Deceptive Sweet Talk
Chapter 632: Chapter 632: Deceptive Sweet Talk
Daisy was utterly disappointed by what her mother-in-law said.
If her mother-in-law had willingly admitted her mistake, then as long as Snowflake was safe, she could choose to let it go.
But for her mother-in-law to tell such a lie was just disgusting.
At the same time, Daisy realized a very important point: without direct evidence, her mother-in-law would never admit it.
Just as Flynn was about to reveal the truth and condemn his mother’s irresponsible behavior, Daisy stopped him.
"That’s enough, Flynn. Don’t say any more," Daisy said, her eyes betraying a deep disgust as she forced herself to speak calmly. "Let’s not bother Mom while she’s watching TV. Let’s go back to our room."
Hearing this, Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow, a trace of confusion flashing across her face.
[What’s going on? Wasn’t this supposed to be a live teardown of the mother-in-law?]
[Yeah, I thought we were about to see some major drama!]
[I don’t get it.]
Once she was back in her room, Daisy explained to everyone, "I stopped Flynn because I suddenly realized something."
Renee Jennings guessed, "Are you worried your mother-in-law won’t admit it without any proof?"
"Yes!" Daisy nodded emphatically. "My mother-in-law is great at arguing her way out of things. I’m afraid if I can’t produce proof, she’ll just throw a hysterical fit."
Upon hearing his wife, Flynn nodded in agreement. "That’s for sure. My mom’s a hell of an arguer; she could convince you that black is white."
[Daisy is the one thinking this through!]
[With people like that, you really do have to shove the evidence in their face.]
Daisy said with a determined look, "I will make my mother-in-law apologize to Snowflake!"
"You can do it, Daisy," Renee Jennings offered her support. "I’ll be waiting for your good news."
A smile touched Daisy’s lips. "Okay, I’ll come back to the stream and report the results."
"Okay," Renee Jennings agreed with a smile.
"Then I won’t hold up the line for others. Thank you, Ms. Jennings, and everyone for your concern. Goodbye." After speaking, Daisy waved and disconnected from the call.
Renee Jennings was feeling a bit sleepy. She chuckled and said, "It’s getting late. Why don’t you all get some rest? I’m getting ready to end the stream."
[Ending the stream so soon?]
[Not going to take one more call?]
[It’s only a little after one, that’s still early!]
Renee Jennings looked at the bullet comments and raised an eyebrow. "A little after one is early? You need to sleep early and wake up early to stay healthy."
After saying that, she didn’t give them a chance to delay her, waving her hand. "Goodbye, everyone."
After ending the stream, Renee Jennings raised her arms and stretched.
She picked up her phone from its stand, planning to scroll through some videos before bed, when she suddenly remembered the matter with Spicy’s best friend.
She quickly found Spicy’s account and sent her a private message.
Renee Jennings: [Chilli, hello. If it’s convenient, please arrange for your friend to meet with me. Her boyfriend might have a criminal organization behind him, and I want to contact the police to get them involved in an investigation.]
Spicy had been waiting in the stream room for Renee Jennings to log off, her eyes glued to the private message screen for a notification.
When she saw the message, her expression turned grave, and she was very willing to cooperate: [Okay, I’ll ask Tina to meet. When are you free?]
Renee Jennings: [The sooner, the better.]
Spicy: [Okay, I’ll ask her now.]
Renee Jennings: [Here’s my WeChat contact card. Let’s talk on WeChat.]
Spicy: [Got it!]
Spicy added Renee Jennings on WeChat, then made a video call to her best friend.
She made three video calls with no answer. Spicy grew extremely nervous, terrified that something had happened to her friend.
Fortunately, when she made the fourth video call, someone picked up quickly.
"Tina, what were you doing? Why’d it take you so long to answer the call?" Spicy asked with concern.
Her best friend, Tina, quickly explained, "Leia, I had my phone on silent and forgot to turn the ringer back on. I was just trying on clothes for the trip. Mia was the one who told me you were calling."
"What day are you guys going to Marland?" Spicy asked.
Tina said, "We haven’t decided on a specific day yet. Tiberius said there’s no rush. Besides, entry to Marland is visa-free, and the plane tickets aren’t expensive, so we can leave whenever."
"But you still have to plan it out," Spicy said helplessly. "Don’t you still need to request time off from work?"
Tina blinked and said hesitantly, "Leila, to be honest with you... I’ve actually already quit my job."
"You quit?" Spicy’s face was a mask of astonishment. "Why so suddenly? Why would you quit?"
"Tiberius wants to stay in Marland for a bit longer, but my boss would only approve ten days off. I wanted to ask for a month."
"Ten days is already a lot. A month is definitely a bit long."
"I know a month is too long, so I offered to work remotely while traveling, but my boss still wouldn’t agree. I got angry and just resigned on the spot."
"Tina, that was too impulsive. That job paid you really well..."
"I know. I kind of regretted quitting after my little outburst, but Tiberius said it’s fine. He said he’ll support me during the gap before I find my next job."
Spicy: "..."
She was suddenly at a loss for words.
’Did she actually fall for his sweet-talking lies?’
Just as she was about to say something, a man’s voice suddenly sounded from Tina’s side.
"Tina, who are you talking to?"
"It’s Leila. She’s asking when we’re going to Marland."
Hearing this, Tiberius Lee frowned and casually remarked, "She’s so concerned. Does she want to go to Marland too? Should we ask her to come with us?"
Spicy, hearing this through the screen, was scared half to death.
’Go with them? I can’t even imagine the consequences.’
Spicy quickly said, "No, no, I was just asking out of concern. I’m not really interested in Marland."
Hearing this, Tiberius Lee retorted with a hint of passive-aggression, "Not interested in Marland, but you’re asking so many questions? Is it reasonable for me to suspect that you’re more interested in *me*?"
Spicy: "..."
’This psycho is completely shameless.’
"You must be joking."
Tiberius Lee sat down next to Tina, snatched the phone, and his tone took on a clear warning. "Let me tell you something. Tina has me, her boyfriend, to keep her company now. You should have some sense of boundaries, okay? Stop trying to pry into every little thing."
Spicy knew that Tiberius Lee definitely found her to be a nuisance.
"Is that so?" she retorted with a smirk. "Just a boyfriend. What’s so great about that? If you’re really that capable, why don’t you take Tina to tour Europe or America? Why go to a place like Marland?"
"A boyfriend is better than you..." Tiberius Lee was furious. He snapped, "What’s wrong with Marland? It’s a lot better than someone like you who’s never even left the country."
Seeing the two of them starting to argue through the phone, Tina quickly tried to smooth things over. "Okay, okay, you two, stop fighting. Can’t you just talk things out nicely?"
Tiberius Lee sneered, "I’m already being very polite. I’m not fighting with her. She just has too much time on her hands, always asking all these stupid, pointless questions and interfering in our relationship."
