Chapter 630: Lost the Child
Chapter 630: Chapter 630: Lost the Child
Snowy Pig’s attitude instantly put off many viewers.
[Your tone is way out of line. The streamer doesn’t owe you anything!]
[Yeah, seriously. That feels a little rude.]
[What do you mean, "nonsense"? That’s going too far!]
Renee Jennings didn’t like Snowy Pig’s tone, nor did she approve of her using someone else’s cat to pry into their private life.
She pressed her lips together, and after a moment of thought, she said softly, "I’m sorry, could you please wait a few minutes? I have something I need to take care of."
"What now?" Snowy Pig said unhappily. "Even if you have something to do, you should wait until we’re done with the call."
Renee Jennings just smiled faintly. "Just a moment."
[Don’t worry, streamer, go do what you need to do! I’ll be waiting right here for you!]
[Hahaha, I bet Ms. Jennings has to go take care of some important business.]
[You mean take a dump, right? Hehehe.]
[Even the prettiest people have to poop~~~]
[Snowy Pig, what’s your problem? You think you’re hot stuff?]
[If you don’t like it, just log off. Plenty of people are willing to wait.]
Renee Jennings got up and moved away from the camera.
She wasn’t going to the bathroom, as the viewers had guessed. ’There are just some things I can’t say to Leo in front of Snowy Pig.’
She needed to find a furry friend to pass on a message for her.
Renee Jennings found Blueberry and said a few words to her. "That’s everything. Can you remember it all?"
"Of course!" Blueberry lifted her chin haughtily. "I happen to be a very powerful and intelligent cat queen!"
"Yes, yes," Renee Jennings agreed, amused. "You are the most capable Queen Blueberry."
Blueberry nodded her head in satisfaction. "As long as you know."
"Let’s go, then." Renee Jennings returned to the study with Blueberry.
[The streamer’s back~]
[Oh, Blueberry’s here to watch the show too.]
As soon as Blueberry arrived, she said to Leo on the screen, "Meow~ My human thinks it’s wrong for that other human to use you like this. She wants to tell your owner about it. Can you tell us which big celebrity your owner is?"
Leo wanted his owner to know too, so he didn’t hide anything. "Meow meow~ My owner’s name is Preston Page."
Preston Page?
’That name sounds a little familiar.’
Renee Jennings immediately searched the name on her spare phone. The elegant and handsome face of a young man instantly popped up on the screen.
’So it’s him.’
Rhea Dempsey had been binge-watching a drama he was in recently.
Hearing Leo’s meows, Snowy Pig pressed again, "Streamer, what is Leo saying?"
Renee Jennings’s voice was flat. "He’s chatting with my cat."
Snowy Pig said anxiously, "Well, hurry up and ask him for me, does his owner have a girlfriend or not?"
"Alright." Renee Jennings nodded. "Leo, does your owner have a girlfriend?"
"Meow~ No." Leo shook his head.
Seeing this, Snowy Pig quietly breathed a sigh of relief, but then continued to ask, "Streamer, can you ask him for me if his owner ever flirts with other women? Like, does he invite women over to the house to drink or anything like that?"
Renee Jennings looked at Leo. "Does he?"
Leo: "No, my owner only wants to focus on his career."
Renee Jennings: "Snowy Pig, your boyfriend isn’t flirting with anyone else. You can rest assured."
Snowy Pig was indeed relieved. "I see, thanks."
After saying that, she immediately disconnected from the call.
[What? She just left like that?]
[That’s the rudest person I’ve ever seen on a stream.]
[I wonder if she’ll leave a tip. I have a feeling she won’t.]
[Definitely not.]
Everyone stared at the public chat for a while, but no gift effects appeared.
Snowy Pig had already left the stream.
Renee Jennings wasn’t concerned about a small tip. She was busy sending a private message to Preston Page, informing him about how Snowy Pig had tried to use Leo to pry into his private life.
After sending the message, Renee Jennings looked up at the stream comments, raised an eyebrow, and chuckled. "Don’t worry about her, everyone. Let’s take the next call."
The call from "Anonymous" connected successfully. The split-screen showed a young man and woman. The man wore silver-rimmed glasses and looked very refined, while the woman had long, curly hair and was wearing exquisite makeup.
The woman waved proactively and greeted her, "Ms. Jennings, hello. I’m Daisy, and this is my husband, Flynn."
Renee Jennings gave a slight nod, smiling as she said, "Hello, Daisy, Flynn."
"Ms. Jennings, I’ll get right to my request." Daisy’s expression grew more serious.
Renee Jennings: "Of course, please go ahead."
Daisy: "A little while ago, my mother-in-law took my daughter, who’s just over a year old, to the park. While they were there... she lost her."
Hearing this, Renee Jennings frowned and asked, "How is your daughter now?"
[No way! How could she lose the child while looking after her?]
[Was it a kidnapper?]
[Oh my god, did they find the child?]
[As a mom of two, I can’t bear to hear stories like this. It’s too heartbreaking. I hope the child is safe and sound!]
Seeing that many viewers were worried about her daughter’s safety, Daisy quickly added, "Thank you, Ms. Jennings, and thank you all for your concern. A kind person found her later and took her to the police station."
"That’s good." Renee Jennings breathed a sigh of relief.
[Thank goodness she’s okay!]
[It’s a good thing a kind person found her, otherwise... I can’t even imagine!]
As Daisy brought this up, the rims of her eyes reddened slightly, and her voice choked up. "Yes, if it weren’t for that kind person, I think I would have gone crazy by now."
Daisy’s husband, Flynn, didn’t say anything; Daisy had been doing all the talking.
Renee Jennings asked softly, "Daisy, then what is it you’d like my help with?"
’At first, I thought they needed help finding their child. But since she’s already been found, I can’t imagine what they need me for.’
Daisy glanced at her husband, her tone becoming more resolute. "I want to know how my child got lost that day. Our Schnauzer was right by her side the whole time."
[Oh my gosh, what a good dog!]
[Aww, now I want to get a dog too!]
Daisy continued, "My mother-in-law told me that she suddenly felt unwell and fainted. When she woke up, the child was gone."
Renee Jennings understood what Daisy was implying.
’She suspects her mother-in-law isn’t telling the truth.’
[Is Daisy suspicious of her mother-in-law? Does she think she wasn’t watching the child properly?]
[That’s a bit much. The mother-in-law is already working hard helping with the kid, and she still gets suspected by her daughter-in-law like this!]
[Actually, I can understand Daisy. If the mother-in-law really fainted, then there’s nothing to be said. But if she lost the child due to carelessness, that’s a whole different story.]
[No wonder Daisy’s husband hasn’t said a word. He’s probably pissed that his wife is suspecting his mom.]
Flynn saw that comment and finally spoke up with a sigh of resignation. "Everyone’s misunderstanding. I’m not pissed. I just thought it would be less chaotic if my wife did all the talking."
"Yes, please don’t misunderstand my husband," Daisy added. "He’s on my side. He also thinks we need to get to the bottom of this."
"That’s right. If my mom was being careless while watching our daughter, then I won’t let her babysit anymore," Flynn said. "If she really felt unwell, I’ll take her for a full medical check-up."
