Chapter 435: He Gets Tricked by Women, You Get Tricked by Men
Chapter 435: Chapter 435: He Gets Tricked by Women, You Get Tricked by Men
Sean Fuller, ever the helpful one, didn’t think twice and immediately agreed to her request. "Sure, no problem."
Yvonne Morgan flashed a delighted smile and said softly, "Thank you. You’re such a good person. I just asked a few other people, and they all turned me down."
"Ha, this is all it takes to be a good person?" Sean Fuller scratched his head with a goofy grin. "Go on, get in the car and charge your phone."
He gentlemanly opened the passenger side door for her.
Yvonne Morgan slid elegantly into the car. "Thank you."
Sean Fuller got into the driver’s seat. "What kind of charging port do you have?"
"This one will work." Yvonne Morgan picked up the charging cable from the center console. "My name is Yvonne. And you are, sir?"
"Sean Fuller."
"That sounds like a name with a wonderful meaning." Yvonne Morgan tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, her voice melodious and pleasant. "Brave in battle, setting sail for a voyage."
Sean Fuller blinked in surprise. "My name can be interpreted like that? My parents told me they just each picked a character and stuck them together."
"Hehe." Yvonne Morgan covered her mouth as she giggled. "Your parents must have been teasing you."
"I wouldn’t know about that." Sean Fuller glanced at his phone. A friend was asking how much longer he’d be.
He thought for a moment, then looked at the woman in the passenger seat. "Miss Lani, where are you headed? If it’s on my way, I can just give you a ride."
"Oh, no, no." Yvonne Morgan’s expression turned shy. "I’ve already troubled you enough, Mr. Fuller. Once I have a little charge, I can call a ride."
Sean Fuller wasn’t insisting on giving her a ride, but it was getting late, she was a young woman, her phone was dead, and she had no money. He couldn’t help but think that if his sister were in this situation, he’d be worried sick.
"How about I give you some cash?" he said, pulling some money from the center console’s storage compartment. "You can just hail a taxi."
He handed her two hundred yuan. "This should be enough, right?"
Yvonne Morgan gave him a gentle smile. "How about this? Let’s add each other on WeChat, and I’ll transfer the money back to you."
"No..." Sean Fuller started to say it wasn’t necessary—it was only two hundred yuan. But then he remembered his sister would call him a spendthrift if she found out, so he quickly changed his tune. "Alright, sure. Should you scan my code, or should I scan yours?"
"You can scan mine." Yvonne Morgan pulled up her personal QR code.
As Sean Fuller went to scan the code, he suddenly glimpsed her phone’s battery level: 57%.
He blinked, wondering if he had seen it wrong.
’Didn’t she say her phone was dead and she couldn’t call a ride? Isn’t that 57% battery?’
He frowned, a little speechless. "Are you messing with me?"
Hearing this, Yvonne Morgan looked at him in confusion. "Hm? What do you mean?"
Sean Fuller stopped trying to add her on WeChat and pointed at her phone’s battery. "Does this look like a dead phone to you?"
A flicker of frustration passed through Yvonne Morgan’s eyes, but she quickly hid it. "I... I’m sorry. The dead phone was just an excuse."
She looked at Sean Fuller, her gaze shy and trembling. "My real intention was you."
The displeasure on Sean Fuller’s face was instantly replaced by confusion. "What... what does that mean?"
Yvonne Morgan lowered her gaze. "It means... I only did this because I wanted to add you on WeChat."
"Oh, oh." Sean Fuller’s expression became awkward. He cleared his throat. "If you wanted to add me, you could have just said so. It’s not like I would’ve said no."
"I’m a girl, so I’m a bit thin-skinned," Yvonne Morgan explained. "I was worried you’d reject me."
"You’re very pretty, why the lack of confidence?" Sean Fuller said, pretending to be nonchalant. "You want to add me on WeChat, right? Fine, I’ll add you."
He scanned Yvonne Morgan’s WeChat code again. "Added you. I’m in a hurry, so I have to go. Do you need a ride or...?"
"No ride needed." Yvonne Morgan accepted the friend request, opened the car door, then turned back before getting out. "I’m heading off, Mr. Fuller. I look forward to seeing you again."
"See ya." Sean Fuller waved and stepped on the gas.
He saw in his rearview mirror that Yvonne Morgan was still watching his car, and he couldn’t resist pulling out his phone to send a voice message to Michelle Fuller.
"Sis, my luck with the ladies is back! A girl just hit on me..."
Michelle Fuller was in the middle of a girls’ night talk session and had no time to deal with her foolish little brother.
The three girls had showered, changed into comfortable silk pajamas, and were sitting cross-legged on the soft carpet, drinking and chatting.
Just before bed, Michelle Fuller finally opened the voice message from her silly brother.
After listening, she scoffed and replied, "Be careful you don’t get scammed by a woman again."
"Who got scammed by a woman?" Sylvia Brooks smelled gossip, and her eyes instantly lit up.
Michelle Fuller said, "Sean Fuller. First, he got tricked by a guy pretending to be a girl, then he got scammed by a toxic girl..."
"That’s rough." Sylvia Brooks sighed and lamented, "But I’m not much better off than your brother. I’m in no position to laugh at him."
Renee Jennings nodded in agreement. "True. He gets scammed by women, and you get scammed by men."
This time, it was Michelle Fuller’s eyes that sparkled. "Summer, you and my brother would make a perfect match. Why don’t I introduce you two next time?"
Sylvia Brooks thought she was just teasing and joked back, "Sure, I love younger guys."
"Perfect, perfect," Michelle Fuller said. "My brother might be a little dumb, but he’s easy to fool."
The moment Renee Jennings heard that, she knew Michelle had had too much to drink.
The three of them lay down on the two-meter-wide bed and were asleep in no time.
「The next day.」
Renee Jennings and Michelle Fuller were woken up by the aroma of meat.
A delicious fragrance wafted through the entire house.
"Why does it smell so good?" Michelle Fuller opened her eyes groggily.
Renee Jennings sat up, her hair a messy mop. "Is Summer cooking something delicious?"
The two of them followed the scent to the kitchen.
The aroma was indeed coming from the kitchen, but the person cooking wasn’t Sylvia Brooks.
"I called my family’s chef over," Sylvia Brooks explained with a smile. "I was going to cook myself, but I’m so clumsy, I was afraid we wouldn’t be able to eat until tonight."
"No worries, no worries." Renee Jennings waved her hand. "We’d rather eat what the chef makes anyway."
Michelle Fuller nodded emphatically. "Seconded."
Sylvia Brooks: "..."
She didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
"Oh, right. Do you two mind if I ask Serena to come down and eat with us?" Sylvia Brooks said with a smile. "If you mind, I won’t call her."
"Of course we don’t mind," Renee Jennings and Michelle Fuller said in unison.
The latter secretly preened in her heart: ’Renee and I are so in sync. We really are the best of friends.’
Sylvia Brooks called Serena Tucker, and in less than five minutes, she appeared in the living room, holding Potato.
Potato got very excited the moment it saw Renee Jennings. It immediately abandoned its owner and threw itself into her arms, meowing, "Renee, we meet again!"
"You still remember me," Renee Jennings said, her lips curving into a smile as she petted the little guy’s head.
"Of course I remember!" Potato said. "A cat will never forget you!"
Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow. "Really?"
Potato nodded its fluffy head vigorously. "Really! Because out of all the humans, you’re the only one who can understand what cats are saying!"
