Chapter 1093: Chapter 1093: Command Token From Assassins’ Guild.

Suddenly, Bai Xifeng narrowed her sharp eyes slightly. Her piercing gaze shifted away from the ongoing battle and locked directly onto the dense, shadowed forest line standing far behind the attackers.

Beside her, Cerberus’s three massive heads also simultaneously turned toward the exact same patch of dark woods, low, menacing growls rumbling deep within his three throats.

Someone... someone vastly stronger than these small-fry assassins had just quietly arrived in the treeline, silently observing the battle from the shadows without revealing an inch of their aura. After silently watching the young cultivators fight for a few intense moments, that hidden, powerful presence quietly slipped away into the deep forest, vanishing without a trace.

Bai Xifeng did not plan to go after the hidden observer since the mysterious figure had made no hostile move against them. After watching quietly for a few moments, her friends finally managed to overpower and defeat the last of the assassins.

"Not bad at all." Bai Xifeng praised them with a nod. "Your teamwork has improved."

"What a great exercise!" Ning Shoukai laughed, proudly adjusting his robe and twirling his spear. "I took out seven of them!"

"I only managed to take out six." Xie Jingguo sighed, shaking his head in mild disappointment.

"I took down ten." Xie Lanying smirked proudly, sliding her blade back into its sheath with a crisp click.

Zhang Zhenyu and his remaining guards were left completely, utterly speechless. Was the body count of dangerous assassins really something to brag and compete about so casually?!

"Hey, aren’t all of you forgetting something very important?" Bai Xifeng suddenly asked, crossing her arms.

"What is it?" Ning Shoukai asked, tilting his head.

"Go and search those bodies. They must be hiding something valuable." Bai Xifeng instructed matter-of-factly. "And don’t forget to thoroughly check their undergarments too."

"Xifeng, do we really need to search there again?" Ning Shoukai looked deeply disgusted, his face twisting into a pained grimace.

"Of course." Bai Xifeng grinned mischievously. "That’s where people hide their absolute best treasures."

"Fine... Fine... I will do it. Just stop grinning like a mastermind." Ning Shoukai grumbled helplessly.

Xie Qingge wanted to help with the task and stepped forward, but her twin brother, Xie Fengge, immediately held out a hand to stop her.

"You girls just stand back and relax." Xie Fengge stated firmly. "Let us boys handle the dirty work."

"Thank you, Brother." Xie Qingge nodded, stepping back with a relieved smile.

Zhang Zhenyu and his people watched the scene unfold with stunned expressions. It was glaringly obvious that these young cultivators were already thoroughly accustomed to this kind of morbid routine. They looked completely natural while doing it, as if stripping and searching the bodies of dead assassins had become a perfectly routine part of their everyday journey.

Before long, a surprisingly large pile of confiscated items was neatly gathered on a clean cloth on the ground. Since the number of assassins was quite large, they had naturally uncovered an impressive bounty such as glistening weapons, high-tier storage pouches, identification tokens, medicinal pills, bags of gold coins, and various other specialised gear.

"Sir Zhang, come over and take a look. Do you recognise anything here?" Bai Xifeng called out.

Zhang Zhenyu, who had already stepped out of the wooden carriage, walked over and looked down at the pile of loot on the ground. His eyes slowly scanned through every item until they suddenly stopped on one particular dark metal crest. He immediately squatted down and picked it up for a closer inspection. It was indeed exactly as he had feared.

"It’s a high-level command token from an infamous, top-tier assassins’ guild." Zhang Zhenyu said in a bitter, heavy tone. "That person truly spent a massive fortune to send these elite killers after me. He really wants my entire family dead."

"You should keep it as concrete evidence for later." Bai Xifeng stated calmly.

Zhang Zhenyu nodded and carefully tucked the heavy token into his inner pocket, gripping it tightly.

"You guys divide the rest of these items among yourselves." Bai Xifeng told her friends.

She personally had zero interest in the loot. Since her friends had worked hard and fought off the ambush, it was only fair that the spoils of war were divided among them.

Ning Shoukai was the absolute first to swoop in and grab the shiny items he wanted.

"Alright, I am done! I am going straight to the stream to wash my hands! They feel filthy!" Ning Shoukai yelled, sprinting toward the nearby water the instant his hands were full.

Everyone else also picked out the items they liked. The boys, following Ning Shoukai’s lead, all hurried over to the stream to thoroughly scrub their hands and vigorously wash the coins and pouches they had extracted from someone’s undergarments.

Zhang Zhenyu let out a long sigh as he looked over at his stationary carriage. There was another practical problem that he needed to address with Bai Xifeng.

"Young Lady Bai..." Zhang Zhenyu called out politely.

"Yes?" Bai Xifeng turned to face him.

"It seems we will most likely need to travel on foot from here on out." Zhang Zhenyu stated the unfortunate problem.

"Eh? Why is that?" Bai Xifeng asked, looking genuinely confused.

She had completely forgotten that the horses pulling the carriage had fled into the deep forest earlier during the trap incident.

"Young Lady Bai, our carriage has no horses to pull it anymore." Zhang Zhenyu pointed out gently.

"Oh..." Bai Xifeng finally remembered, clapping a hand to her forehead. "Right. That happened."

"I hope Young Lady Bai can slow down our travel pace later so that my family can walk together with your group." Zhang Zhenyu requested humbly.
