Chapter 1082: Chapter 1082: Call Princess Huahua To Sleep Together
They all paused for a brief, hilarious moment, exchanging glances with one another before bursting into a collective wave of bright laughter.
Any lingering tense atmosphere from the earlier battle completely vanished into thin air, replaced entirely by cheerful, vibrant laughter echoing happily throughout the quiet forest clearing.
"Well, it certainly looks like all of you still have plenty of leftover energy to spare." Bai Xifeng chuckled softly, shaking her head as she stirred the pot.
"Of course we do! A tiny warm-up fight like that was not even enough to make me break a real sweat." Ning Shoukai puffed out his chest proudly, striking a heroic pose.
"Oh? Really now?" Xie Lanying smirked playfully, raising her hand to her chin. "Then why on earth were you panting like a tired dog just a few minutes ago?"
"I-I was not!" Ning Shoukai immediately denied it at the top of his lungs, his face instantly turning a bright, embarrassing shade of red. "I was just... strategically conserving my ultimate strength for later!"
"Pfft..." Xie Zixin could not help but burst out laughing at the ridiculous excuse.
"So you conserve your strength by breathing that heavily, huh? I should try that technique sometime." Xie Yanlin teased ruthlessly, nudging him with an elbow.
"All of you are blatantly ganging up on me again!" Ning Shoukai protested dramatically, throwing his arms up into the air in defeat.
The rest of the group laughed even harder after hearing his dramatic complaint, their cheerful voices filling the peaceful woods as the food cooked.
Right on perfect cue, a rich, mouthwatering, and deeply savoury aroma drifted out from the dirt pit as the leaf-wrapped chicken finished slow-cooking beneath the glowing embers. At the exact same time, the delicious, comforting fragrance of the bubbling fish soup spread through the surrounding clearing, making everyone’s stomachs growl in loud unison.
With the trash thoroughly swept away and the mercenaries long gone, the group’s appetites had only grown significantly stronger after the brief, satisfying warm-up fight. Laughing and chatting merrily with one another, they happily gathered around the crackling campfire, eagerly preparing themselves for a delicious, well-deserved feast!
After the glorious afternoon feast, they continued their steady journey along the road until the sky gradually turned dark. Since there was no town or city anywhere nearby where they could comfortably stay for the night, they decided to set up camp in a quiet wilderness clearing instead. Because they had enjoyed such a heavy, hearty feast earlier that afternoon, they decided to keep dinner very simple and light.
Bai Xifeng simply roasted the remaining fish they had caught from the stream. The meal was light and straightforward, but everyone was already pleasantly full enough from their earlier feast that no one had a single complaint.
After dinner was finished, everyone began unpacking their gear and preparing to get some well-deserved rest.
"Xifeng, don’t we need to set up a rotation for someone to guard our campsite tonight?" Ning Shoukai asked, looking around the dark forest.
"No need for a guard rotation." Bai Xifeng shook her head casually. "I will just ask Princess Huahua to guard us instead. Your contracted beasts also need proper rest and recovery tonight, since they will be travelling hard again tomorrow."
"Oh... That’s actually a great idea." Ning Shoukai nodded in full agreement.
"Princess Huahua, come on out." Bai Xifeng called out softly.
In a brilliant flash of light, the giant, majestic panda immediately materialised right beside her on the grass.
"Xifeng!" Princess Huahua greeted her happily, her big round eyes shining.
"Princess Huahua, you will be guarding our campsite tonight. If you notice anything strange or dangerous in the woods, wake us up immediately." Bai Xifeng instructed gently.
"Alright, Xifeng! Leave it to me." Princess Huahua nodded obediently, puffing out her furry chest.
"However..." Bai Xifeng smiled mischievously before stepping forward and wrapping both arms tightly around the giant panda’s soft middle. "You are still going to be my personal sleeping pillow tonight."
Princess Huahua let out a gentle, rumbling laugh before affectionately rubbing her large head against Bai Xifeng’s cheeks.
"Xifeng... Xifeng... Can I sleep with you guys too?" Xie Qingge asked, her eyes sparkling with intense anticipation as she looked at the giant, fluffy panda.
"Me too! I want to sleep while leaning against Princess Huahua." Xie Lanying requested eagerly, already walking over.
"Princess Huahua, is it alright if they sleep with us too?" Bai Xifeng turned her head to look up at Princess Huahua.
"Hmm... Of course you can! The more the merrier." Princess Huahua nodded without a second of hesitation.
"Awesome! Then I will..." Before Ning Shoukai could even finish his excited sentence or take a single step forward, he was instantly met with two razor-sharp, lethal glares from both Bai Xifeng and Xie Lanying. He immediately coughed awkwardly, froze in his tracks, and quickly changed his words. "Fine... Fine... I will just sleep over here by myself."
Ning Shoukai wisely walked over to a large, sturdy tree not far from the three girls before leaning comfortably against its thick trunk.
The rest of the group also settled down around the campsite. The boys deliberately chose strategic positions surrounding the girls, naturally forming a protective outer circle around them while they rested for the night.
Bai Xifeng lay down first, happily sinking into and hugging Princess Huahua’s warm, ridiculously fluffy body.
"Sleeping with Princess Huahua is really, ridiculously warm." Bai Xifeng murmured contentedly, closing her eyes.
"Hmm... You are so right." Xie Qingge agreed softly as she leaned comfortably against the giant panda’s plush fur on the other side.
"Princess Huahua is genuinely warm. Your fur is so silky and smooth too." Xie Lanying added with a soft smile while gently stroking the panda’s thick white-and-black coat.
