Chapter 1081: Chapter 1081: Plunder Their Hard-Earned Money

He dropped his sword, turned around, and tried to sprint away into the forest for his life.

"Where do you think you are going?" Xie Zixin chuckled, stepping up.

With a simple wave of his hand, a sharp burst of spiritual energy shot from his fingertips, striking the fleeing mercenary directly in the calf. The man tripped hard, tumbling face-first into the dirt and groaning in defeat.

The entire fight was over almost as quickly as it had begun. The five arrogant mercenaries were now completely grovelling on the ground, bruised, bleeding, and trembling in terror.

"P-Please! Have mercy! We were blind! We did not know who we were messing with!" The mercenary leader sobbed, clutching his bleeding chest as he begged for his life.

Xie Lanying wiped her daggers clean with a handkerchief, glaring down at them with absolute disgust. "Get out of our sight before we decide to make your defeat permanent."

"Y-Yes! Thank you! Thank you so much!" The mercenary leader immediately blurted out, thanking them repeatedly as his voice trembled violently with overwhelming relief.

"Wait a minute." Bai Xifeng’s cool, leisurely voice suddenly echoed through the clearing, stopping the mercenary group dead in their tracks before they could even take a single step toward the trees.

The entire mercenary group instantly froze in place like stone statues. Not a single one of them dared to take another step forward. They slowly, hesitantly turned around, looking at Bai Xifeng with sheer, sweating nervousness.

"Hand over all of your valuable belongings. Every single piece." Bai Xifeng ordered, narrowing her dark eyes dangerously as she looked them up and down. "And don’t you dare try to lie and tell me you don’t have anything on you. I can literally see your hidden spatial gear."

The five mercenaries looked at each other in utter helplessness, their faces twisting in bitter agony. Even though they were extremely, deeply unwilling to part with their hard-earned plunder, they could only grit their teeth and take out the obvious valuables they had on them, placing them on the grass. They stared at the small pile of treasures with burning, intensely reluctant eyes. At this exact moment, they truly, deeply regretted ever deciding to wander over to this clearing.

Bai Xifeng calmly stepped forward and glanced over the meagre items piled on the ground, her eyebrows knitting together slightly.

"Only this much?" Bai Xifeng asked in a chilled, icy tone. "You actually dare to blatantly lie right to my face?"

The very split second those cold words fell from her lips, she casually released a tiny fraction of her terrifying cultivation aura.

A suffocating, mountain-like pressure instantly descended upon the mercenary group like a heavy hammer, making their faces turn a deathly, ghostly shade of pale. Their knees buckled, and their bodies trembled uncontrollably under the overwhelming, raw suppression.

Only then did they finally come to the terrifying realisation that this breathtakingly beautiful young woman was actually, by far, the strongest monster among the entire group! If she had chosen to fight them personally from the very beginning, she alone could have utterly wiped them out of existence with a simple wave of her hand without needing anyone else’s help.

Realising that there was absolutely zero possibility of deceiving her sharp eyes, the mercenaries no longer dared to hide a single silver coin. One after another, they hurriedly and frantically pulled out every remaining valuable item they had secretly concealed inside their storage pouches, long sleeves, leather boots, and inner hidden pockets, practically weeping as they emptied everything out.

Seeing the massive, glowing pile of newly added treasures and spatial gear on the grass, Bai Xifeng was finally satisfied, a sweet smile returning to her face.

"Hmm... You may officially leave now." Bai Xifeng stated casually, retracting her oppressive aura.

Scrambling like terrified, panicked rats, the five mercenaries frantically dragged their injured bodies back up to their feet before sprinting into the dense forest as fast as their trembling legs could possibly carry them. Not a single one of them even dared to look back over their shoulder, leaving behind only a trail of panicked, hurried footsteps and miserable, echoing whimpers.

Bai Xifeng casually swept the entire pile of loot into her own spatial ring before turning back to her group of friends with a warm, proud smile.

"Not bad at all." Bai Xifeng praised them warmly. "Your reaction speed and combat coordination were excellent. You all worked together remarkably well."

Hearing her genuine praise, everyone immediately broke into bright, proud, and cheerful grins. The lingering tension that had remained after the sudden clash instantly melted away into thin air.

"Hahaha! Did you see how I effortlessly knocked that big guy’s teeth out, Xifeng?" Ning Shoukai boasted proudly, puffing out his chest as he wiped the sweat from his forehead with his sleeve. "I did not even give him a chance to react!"

"Yeah, yeah, you were amazing." Xie Lanying snorted affectionately, rolling her eyes. "Now go wash your hands in the stream so we can finally eat!"

"I did not even get a single chance to beat up those scumbags." Xie Jingguo complained with a disappointed sigh, crossing his arms and pouting.

"Same here. They went down way too fast." Xie Yanlin nodded in full agreement, regretfully shaking his head.

"Don’t worry, next time we run into fools like that, we will be sure to leave a few proper opponents for you two to play with." Xie Lanying said with a wide, mischievous grin.

"Wait, you guys actually want to keep running into trashy people like that?" Bai Xifeng asked, raising one eyebrow with an amused look on her face.

"No way!" Everyone answered in perfect, loud unison.
