Also, many thanks to everyone who bought me coffee (*≧∀≦*)
Gu Jiao was now encircled by the three swordsmen.
“Don’t touch that horse.” came a calm voice from within the carriage.
"Don't worry, we're only here to kill him!" The middle-aged man, pale-faced and clean-shaven, held a long sword in his hand and looked at Gu Jiao as he spoke. "Kid, to let you die with a clear understanding, I’ll tell you this. My name is Zheng Shan, and these two are twins. One is called Li Qi, the other Li Quan."
They were actually speaking in the language of the State of Yan, though with a faint accent from a foreign land.
Gu Jiao stared at the three men before her without the slightest trace of fear. “I’m not interested in your names. Why not talk about where you’re from instead?”
The middle-aged man took in her reaction completely and suddenly felt a hint of admiration. “Kid, you've got guts. If you're willing to acknowledge me as your master, I can decide to spare your life today. But that so-called Black Wind Cavalry, you won’t be going back to them.”
Gu Jiao responded coolly, “How about this instead? You kneel down and call me grandfather, and I might consider sparing your pathetic life.”
The middle-aged man’s expression darkened. “At death’s door and you still dare to spout such arrogant nonsense! Li Qi, Li Quan, let’s not waste time talking with him anymore. Kill him!”
The twins raised their swords and launched a coordinated attack toward Gu Jiao.
Being twins, their sense of coordination far surpassed ordinary warriors. Combined with their incredibly swift footwork, every strike they made was precise and deadly, leaving no opening whatsoever. For a moment, they actually forced Gu Jiao into a position where she couldn’t fully utilize the spear techniques of the Xuanyuan Family.
The Black Wind King wished to charge over and assist Gu Jiao in the fight, but was intercepted by the middle-aged man.
Without hesitation, the Black Wind King lunged at him.
Inside the carriage, the man took a slow, unhurried sip of tea and said, “Remember, don’t harm that horse.”
“How troublesome.” The middle-aged man muttered impatiently as he withdrew his killing move and shifted to evasive maneuvers.
The Black Wind King was proving far more difficult to handle than expected.
Though he could tell this was an old horse, he couldn’t understand why it still radiated such explosive power and combat strength.
Annoyed after dodging several times, he finally called over a group of soldiers.
The soldiers formed a shield formation, trapping the Black Wind King in the center. The horse rammed against the solid shields, hitting them so hard it began to bleed from the head.
Gu Jiao blocked the twins’ long swords with her red-tasseled spear and spoke to the Black Wind King, “Big Boss, don’t move.”
As if sensing something in her tone, the Black Wind King suddenly froze, standing still and staring intently at Gu Jiao.
The middle-aged swordsman also joined the battle. But with only half of her full strength restored, Gu Jiao was no match for the combined force of the three opponents.
That left only one option.
The last time she lost control, she hadn’t entirely lost her mind. Maybe because she resolved the situation quickly, or maybe because the surrounding blood was not thick enough.
But now, on the battlefield, the scent of blood mist hung so densely it seemed to saturate the sky. Every pore on her body could feel the lure of that bloody aura.
Perhaps this time, the loss of control would be irreversible, more severe than any time before.
She would fight until the last drop of her strength was spent.
There was no path left for retreat. One by one, the Black Wind Cavalry was falling. The cost had already been far too great.
She had to kill them!
She had to kill Chu Feipeng, and bring this battle to an end!
The middle-aged man furrowed his brows as he stared at Gu Jiao. “What is this kid trying to do?”
“Is he done for?” Asked Li Qi, one of the twins.
Li Quan gave a cold snort. “I’ll finish him off!”
“No, move!” The middle-aged man shouted sharply, retreating a dozen steps in alarm.
Unfortunately, his warning came a second too late.
The youth had thrown something away, no one could tell what it was but the aura surrounding him suddenly surged, spiking to terrifying levels. Li Quan slashed his sword down onto the youth’s shoulder, but Gu Jiao didn’t dodge at all. Instead, she caught the blade with her bare hand!
A chilling, murderous energy erupted from the depths of the youth’s eyes. With a twist of her fingers, she forcibly snapped Li Quan’s sword in half.
Li Quan’s face changed drastically. He tried to retreat and draw his sword back, but it was too late. Gu Jiao thrust her spear straight into his chest.
“This murderous aura…”
The middle-aged man’s expression grew heavy with seriousness.
“Brother!” Li Qi cried out, seeing his twin pierced through by Gu Jiao’s spear. Fury roared through his chest like a tidal wave, and he charged at Gu Jiao with a howl, his eyes bloodshot.
A flash of something complex flickered through the middle-aged man’s gaze. He cast a long, penetrating look at Gu Jiao, then raised his sword and joined Li Qi’s assault, attacking from the opposite side to trap Gu Jiao with a pincer strike, giving her nowhere to run.
Even though one twin had fallen, the combined power of the remaining two still exceeded that of An Hun.
Gu Jiao’s loss of control only granted her half of her full strength. Facing the two of them together still posed a significant challenge.
After several fierce exchanges, all three of them had sustained serious injuries. Among them, the surviving twin had taken the worst of it; he had completely lost the ability to fight.
The middle-aged man looked at his fallen comrade, confusion growing deeper in his heart. How could they be wounded to such an extent, when even An Hun hadn’t been able to injure them like this…
In truth, Gu Jiao’s condition wasn’t optimistic either; her physical strength was nearly depleted. She had already slaughtered a large number of death warriors earlier, then crossed blades with Zhao An, and only afterward did she face the trio before her.
The middle-aged man clutched the wound on his chest, blood still seeping nonstop, and gritted his teeth as he looked toward the carriage. “Chu Feipeng! If this goes on, all of us are going to die!”
Inside the carriage, Chu Feipeng let out a faint sigh, his tone calm and aloof. “The three great swordmasters of the Sword Lodge, and yet you can’t even handle a boy barely sixteen or seventeen. So this is all the Sword Lodge is capable of?”
The middle-aged man clenched his fists in humiliation. “Chu Feipeng!”
With a sweep of his wide sleeves, Chu Feipeng shot out from the carriage in a blur, his speed so astonishing that in the blink of an eye, he had already appeared right in front of Gu Jiao.
Gu Jiao thrust her spear at him.
She had clearly aimed with precision.
But…
She missed again?
Chu Feipeng’s strength was terrifying beyond belief…
With cold, emotionless eyes, Chu Feipeng stared at the blood-soaked youth before him. So what if this youth was a god of slaughter?
He, Chu Feipeng, had been born for one thing alone: to slay gods!
Chu Feipeng reached out and clamped his hand tightly around Gu Jiao’s neck!
Just a slight twist would be enough for a head to roll!
Whoosh!
An arrow tore through the air like a bolt of lightning, with a roar like crashing thunder, and struck straight for Chu Feipeng’s wrist!
He released his grip and swept his sleeve to deflect the arrow, but to his surprise, the arrow still managed to slice clean through his long sleeve.
His gaze grew icy.
And almost at the same moment, a black-clad youth dropped from the sky. Seizing the opportunity while Chu Feipeng was unguarded, he swept Gu Jiao into his arms and whisked her away in a flash!
Chu Feipeng immediately sensed an overwhelming killing intent coming from behind. He turned coldly and saw that a tall war chariot had somehow arrived at the rear of the battlefield without his notice.
On the war chariot stood a tall, broad-shouldered man clad in silver armor, hoisting a long-handled broadsword over his shoulder, one foot casually resting on the edge of the chariot.
Though the movement was effortless and silent, it somehow sent a tremor through the hearts of all who saw it!
Chu Feipeng’s brow furrowed.
The man in silver armor raised the massive blade in his hand and pointed it arrogantly at Chu Feipeng. “Chu Feipeng, you dare lay a hand on this old man’s daugh—son, and you didn’t even think to ask my blade first?”
Chu Feipeng asked in confusion, “Who are you?”
The man in silver armor swung his broadsword with an air of unshakable dominance and declared, “I go by the same name whether walking or sitting——I am Marquis Xuanping of the State of Zhao, Xiao Ji!”

Description:
In the suspenseful supernatural novel “Records of Mortals,” Jiang Baiyan, once a solitary and impoverished youth, finds refuge in the Shi family of Chang’an due to his extraordinary bloodline. With his clear and captivating peach blossom eyes, this seemingly innocent young man conceals a fanatical and malevolent lunatic within. Destined to succumb to darkness amidst hardship and degradation, he becomes a harbinger of chaos.
When Shi Dai suddenly transmigrates, she takes on the role of the Shi family’s young lady, the one who subjects him to countless trials, eventually leading to her demise.
The twist? She never got to finish reading the novel.
From what she knew of the plot, Jiang Baiyan was just a silent, timid, and often bullied pitiable character.
***
Jiang Baiyan had never encountered someone like Shi Dai.
After he had slaughtered all the evil creatures in the garden, the blood-stained young man, exuding a murderous aura, approached her step by step, his lips curling into a malicious smile, "Scared?"
Shi Dai responded, “You’re really amazing! I applaud you until I spin like a spiral and fly around the moon three hundred times! And also——you have dimples when you smile!"
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
—
After seeing her at a lantern festival with another man, Jiang Baiyan lowered his eyes, his fingers twirling her hair. He said in a mocking and sinister tone, "The mansion in the western suburbs...if I hide you there, no one will find you, right?"
Shi Dai replied, "Does it come with meals and lodging? Can I sleep in everyday? Oh, and your cooking is the best!"
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
—
Jiang Baiyan was supposed to dislike her, even hate her, but as their separation drew near, his eyes turned red and he grabbed her sleeve, pleading, "Don't abandon me, alri—”
Shi Dai responded, "Alright, alright, I’ll only have you. Mwah."
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
He hasn't finished his lines yet though…
