Chapter 672: Five Demon Bones

Chapter 672: Chapter 672: Five Demon Bones

Without any hesitation, the Purple Cloud Mink led Fang Lin towards the altar.

The altar was located in the deepest part of the Ancient Forest, in a very complex terrain. If one was not familiar with the way, not only would they be unable to find the altar, but they could also lose their way within it.

As the boss of this Ancient Forest, the Purple Cloud Mink naturally knew everything about this place and quickly led Fang Lin to the altar.

When Fang Lin saw the five altars, his heart couldn’t help but race.

The five altars were very crudely built, much like five small hills.

Above these five altars, five Demon Bones floated which were all different in form. Without exception, each Demon Bone radiated an exceptionally astonishing aura.

Fang Lin quickly judged that these five Demon Bones were undoubtedly from the bodies of Demon Kings and furthermore, they were from five completely different Demon Kings.

The so-called Demon Bone was in fact a piece of Origin Bone within a Demon Beast’s body, similar to a Demon Core. It contained most of the power of the Demon Beast’s physical body.

The power contained within the Demon Core was Demon Qi and nature’s spiritual energy, while the power contained within the Demon Bone was the physical strength of the Demon Beast.

Every Demon Beast only had one Origin Bone in its body and even if the body rotted after death, this Origin Bone would not be affected at all.

An Origin Demon Bone can be fused into a Martial Artist’s body to become a part of them. By constantly nourishing it with their own flesh and blood, they can bring forth the Demon Bone’s power.

This was a method that many Martial Artists use now to increase their strength. The higher the level of the Demon Bone they acquired, the greater the power they will be able to bring forth.

For example, Zhou Yishui, his left arm had been fused with a Flood Dragon’s Demon Bone, enabling him to exert the power of the Flood Dragon, which was extremely formidable.

In his past life, Fang Lin had also fused with a Demon Bone, but once his cultivation reached a certain level, he removed the fused Demon Bone.

After stepping into a higher realm, the usefulness of a Demon Bone would decrease until it eventually became a burden.

To put it bluntly, Demon Bones are very useful for Martial Artists with a lower level of cultivation. With the increase in the cultivation, except for the callable growing Demon Bones, majority of the Demon Bones would have to be discarded eventually.

Growing Demon Bones were more precious than ordinary Demon Bones, and their values were worlds apart.

Growing Demon Bones could grow along with the Martial Artist’s cultivation level, growing stronger and stronger and would not become a burden.

So, when Martial Artists sought Demon Bones, they generally wanted to obtain growing Demon Bones.

But growing Demon Bones were extremely rare, only certain Demon Beasts with very unique bloodlines or Demon Beasts with ancient bloodline inheritances may possibly produce growing Demon Bones.

Ninety-nine percent of Demon Beasts were unable to produce growing Demon Bones.

Although a Demon Beast could only produce one Demon Bone, a Martial Artist could fuse multiple Demon Bones, but similarly to absorbing the Soul Commanding Pill Fire, fusing multiple Demon Bones also involved risks.

Given that Demon Bones come from Demon Beasts and are full of Demon Qi, if a rejection occurs during the fusion process, problems could easily arise.

Among all the people Fang Lin had met so far, there were several individuals who had fused with Demon Bones, but there was no one who had fused with multiple Demon Bones.

The five Demon Bones on the altars before him, radiating extraordinary auras, were all from Demon Kings. If placed in the outside world, they would undoubtedly cause a mad scramble among many people.

Desire burning in his eyes, Fang Lin was about to approach for a closer look when the Purple Cloud Mink blocked his path.

Fang Lin frowned and asked, “I need to take the Demon Bones. Are you going to stop me?”

The Purple Cloud Mink vigorously shook its head. As a Demon King, it naturally understood human language.

Squeak, Squeak, Squeak!!!

The Purple Cloud Mink issued a string of beast-like noises, as if it was trying to communicate something to Fang Lin.

Unable to understand the animal language, Fang Lin asked the Old Dried Corpse to translate.

“It is warning you not to approach the altar, or you will face danger.” The Old Dried Corpse reported.

Fang Lin raised his eyebrows, “If I don’t take the five Demon Bones in front of me, wouldn’t I be wasting my trip here?”

However, since the Purple Cloud Mink had warned him, the five altars were likely not as simple as they seemed. Fang Lin didn’t want to take any chances and decided to test the waters first.

And the method to do this test was, of course, through the use of the Millennium Corpse Ginseng.

Without waiting for it to say anything, Fang Lin grabbed the Millennium Corpse Ginseng from the Nine Palace Bag and threw it towards one of the altars.

“What are you doing?” The Millennium Corpse Ginseng looked around in confusion, not understanding why Fang Lin had thrown it out.

But the next moment, it understood.

In the middle of the altar, a flash of light suddenly shot out and hit the Millenium Corpse Ginseng hard.

“Ah! I’m gonna die!” The Millenium Corpse Ginseng yelled in pain and was sent flying back after being hit by the light.

With swift eyes and agile hands, Fang Lin caught it in time, turned it over to look it all over, and found nothing wrong with it other than its overreaction.

“You little brat, you’re not going to have a good death! Every time it’s me who ends up suffering the most!” The Millennium Corpse Ginseng rolled its eyes at Fang Lin and kept cursing.

The Purple Cloud Mink was also surprised as it watched the Millennium Corpse Ginseng. It survived in the Ancient Forest for several years and had visited the altar more than once. Even it couldn’t withstand the power of the altar. This thing that looked like a radish was actually unscathed after being hit.

“Is there any way to approach the altar?” Fang Lin, holding the Millennium Corpse Ginseng, asked the Purple Cloud Mink.

The Purple Cloud Mink emitted a series of beast sounds once again and even gestured twice, but Fang Lin didn’t have any clue what it meant.

“It says the altars have existed here for a long time. No one, neither person nor demon beast, can approach it. Even a Demon King would be unable to withstand the power of the altar,” reported the Old Dried Corpse.

Fang Lin scoffed upon hearing that. Even if the Demon King couldn’t withstand it, this Millenium Corpse Ginseng could.

“Senior, do you have any way to get these five Demon Bones?” Fang Lin asked the Old Dried Corpse, hoping to get some clues from him.

The Old Dried Corpse answered, “If I were to do it myself, naturally it would be possible to retrieve the five Demon Bones.”

Fang Lin was speechless. Isn’t this stating the obvious? You are so powerful, how could a few small altars stop you? The key question is, are you actually going to do it?

With no other options, Fang Lin turned to the Millennium Corpse Ginseng in his hand.

“Old Pickle, let’s talk business,” Fang Lin said with a grin.

The Millennium Corpse Ginseng did not even spare Fang Lin a glance. “Don’t bother. I already know what you’re like. You’re cunning, treacherous, and wicked. I don’t want to be involved with your kind.”

Fang Lin showed an awkward expression and continued, “Help me get those five Demon Bones, and I’ll give you ten ancient medicinal herbs.”

“Young man, I don’t believe you this time.” The Millennium Corpse Ginseng gave Fang Lin a disdainful look.
