Chapter 246 - 225: Legacy of the Ancient Era?
Chapter 246: Chapter 225: Legacy of the Ancient Era?
A Legendary Tier Golem had first been rendered utterly helpless before Anton, and now, it was easily subdued and captured.
Though both were of the Legendary Tier, their power was on completely different levels.
The scene was far beyond their comprehension.
Anton stowed the Golem away, and his sleeve returned to normal as if nothing had happened at all.
He turned to look at the cowering figures at the edge of the basin, his gaze lingering for a moment on the Rock Beast Ghost leader and Gustus.
That single glance sent a chilling dread through the two leaders of the subterranean races, as if they had been plunged into an icy chasm.
They stood frozen in place, their pupils filled with shock and terror.
’Even the Legendary Golem was no match for Anton, captured with such ease. What chance do we stand?’
The two leaders opened their mouths to speak, words of surrender already on the tips of their tongues.
However, Anton gave them no such chance.
He raised his hand and pointed, a wisp of flame lighting up at his fingertip, its six-colored halo churning and overlapping.
Black on the outside, followed by gold, then cyan, and purple on the inside, with a blindingly incandescent white at its core.
Six divine patterns swirled within the flame, a cycle of yin and yang, a reversal of the Five Elements.
Six Ding Divine Fire!
With a flick of Anton’s finger, the flame shot out, split in two mid-air, and drifted toward the Rock Beast Ghost leader and Gustus, magnificent and deadly.
Utterly terrified, the two leaders scrambled to create distance and dodge the attack.
But the six-colored flame was far faster than them. In the blink of an eye, it was upon them, suddenly expanding into a monstrous wave of fire that completely engulfed them.
The Six Ding Divine Fire was exceptionally effective against sinister, ghostly beings.
The Eye Demon and the Rock Beast Ghost, creatures that naturally possessed a foul, turbid aura, were prime targets for the Six Ding Divine Fire’s power.
Without even having time to let out a scream, the two leaders’ massive bodies melted away like snow under a blazing sun, silently turning to ash and dissipating.
Not even a trace was left behind.
A deathly silence filled the basin.
The remaining subterranean creatures stared blankly at the spot where the Rock Beast Ghost leader and Gustus had vanished, their pupils filled with terror.
In a single exchange, the leaders of two subterranean races—both Golden Tier powerhouses—were turned to ash!
They didn’t even have a chance to resist.
"Keep an eye on them."
Anton’s gaze swept over the cowering subterranean creatures. He didn’t move against them, only giving Romance an instruction before his figure flashed and darted into the cave.
The interior of the cave was even more spacious than the basin. The ceiling was high, estimated to be at least two hundred meters from the ground.
In the very center of the cave, a massive cluster of blood-red crystals came into view, resembling a blooming scarlet flower.
Its "petals" were layered one upon another, each as thick as an adult’s arm, with edges as sharp as blades. A strange red light flowed across their surface.
The base of the crystal cluster was rooted deep in the ground. Its gnarled, python-like roots bulged from the earth and spread in all directions, transforming into sections of blood-red crystals that covered the entire floor and the cavern walls.
Even the stalactites hanging from the ceiling were covered in dark red crystals, appearing like pillars of coagulated blood under the crimson glow.
As far as the eye could see, the entire cave was like a world soaked in blood, possessing a strange and deadly beauty.
Anton walked forward and broke off a piece of Blood Soul Crystal.
He had learned about the specific effects of the Blood Soul Crystal long ago from reports sent from Nine Nether City.
Now holding the physical object, a sweep of his Divine Sense confirmed that the Blood Soul Crystal contained an extremely dense life energy.
The energy within this crystal was intense and violent. For an ordinary Caster or Warrior, absorbing it would take a considerable amount of time.
But for a Cultivator who practiced a path of strength, it was a rare tonic.
With a thought, Anton’s Divine Sense instantly spread out, enveloping the entire cave and penetrating deep underground.
Through his Divine Sense, the flow of energy in the cave became instantly visible, as if a veil had been lifted from a scroll, revealing every minute detail.
The strange patterns buried deep within the floor and walls also revealed their true form.
They were a series of complex and ancient rune arrays, their lines coarse yet containing a hidden order.
Vast amounts of dense life energy gathered from outside the cave, flowing like countless rivers to the sea. It traveled along the patterns on the ground toward the base of the Blood Soul Crystal cluster, where it was greedily devoured and absorbed.
And the source of that life energy was, in fact, the many creatures in the basin that were enveloped in the bloody light.
"So that’s how it is."
Anton understood at once.
The essence of this bloody light was a massive life-draining array.
It forcibly stripped the Life Force of all creatures within its range, gathering it at the base of the Blood Soul Crystal cluster as nutrients for its growth.
That Legendary Golem had most likely relied on this array to absorb enough energy as well.
At this thought, Anton’s Divine Sense spread out further, and he began to carefully analyze every part of the array’s structure.
To his surprise, however, the style of this array was completely different from any mainstream array system he knew of on the Dawn Continent.
The structure of the runes, the flow of energy, the method of the array’s layout... everything exuded an ancient and unfamiliar aura.
’Could this be a relic from an ancient era?’
This was the only explanation Anton could think of.
As of the time he’d crossed over, many secrets of the ancient era on the Dawn Continent had yet to be unearthed.
The ruins of civilizations lost to the river of time would occasionally yield items that would astonish even modern Alchemists and Enchanters.
This would also explain why he didn’t recognize the Blood Soul Crystal or the Legendary Golem.
Anton pondered for a moment but didn’t delve deeper, continuing to analyze the array.
After some effort, he finally found the core of the array—right beneath the massive blood-red crystal cluster in the very center of the cave.
Without delay, Anton immediately injected his Divine Sense into the array’s core.
About three or four breaths later, the cave suddenly shook. The dense, bloody light began to dim at a visible rate before finally dissipating completely.
A wave of suppressed cheers came from outside.
Anton ignored the commotion outside and continued to extend his Divine Sense deeper underground, wanting to see if there were any other discoveries to be made.
However, at a depth of three to four hundred meters, his Divine Sense was blocked by an invisible barrier, unable to extend any deeper.
The barrier wasn’t a physical object but more like a force field created by some kind of array. It was dense and its energy was stable, like an invisible wall.
Anton raised an eyebrow slightly.
With the current strength of his Golden Core Stage Divine Sense, there weren’t many arrays that could block his probing.
Even the defensive array system that Kresol Dragon City had maintained for thousands of years couldn’t do it.
Only a special environment like Wulei Valley, created by the primordial forces of the world, could suppress his Divine Sense.
Anton’s eyes flickered. He extended his Divine Sense to the sides of the barrier, and only after stretching it out four to five hundred meters did the invisible barrier finally disappear.
His Divine Sense continued to extend downward.
Four or five minutes later, Anton had roughly determined the shape of the object blocking his Divine Sense.
It was an incredibly vast object shaped like a pyramid, narrow at the top and wide at the bottom.
