The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master

Chapter 716: Vera is Angry (4)

Chapter 716: Chapter 716: Vera is Angry (4)

Truth be told, Shirley Ewing had found Laura White unbearable for a long time. She’d managed to put up with it before, but now Laura was being passive-aggressive every single day. Why the hell should she tolerate it any longer?

People from Harrowland often ended their sentences with regional particles, like "luo."

Laura White immediately leaped off her bed and attacked. Shirley Ewing was ready for it and fought right back. In the blink of an eye, the two were tangled up in a brawl.

Shirley Ewing may have been eliminated by Vera Xavier during military training, but that certainly didn’t mean she couldn’t beat Laura White.

Fiona Wright grew frantic. She couldn’t pull the two apart on her own, so she quickly called for Vera Xavier to help.

Vera Xavier couldn’t fathom it. She had only been in the bathroom taking a shower, and somehow Shirley Ewing and Laura White had gotten into a massive fight. By the time she and Fiona Wright pulled them apart, both girls had bruised faces, with scratch marks on their necks and cheeks.

Vera Xavier had previously thought that even though Laura White had a bit of a temper and wasn’t very social, these weren’t huge character flaws. She never expected her to actually start a physical fight with Shirley Ewing.

For the first time, she realized the relationships between the girls in the dorm were far worse than she’d anticipated. This issue had to be resolved, one way or another. So, she asked Shirley Ewing and Laura White, "Do you want to settle this privately, or do you want to make it public?"

Settling it privately meant they would each apologize and the matter would be dropped. Making it public meant taking it to the Dean’s Office, where both of them would likely be punished.

Before Shirley Ewing could say a word, Laura White was already staring coldly at Vera Xavier. "Vera Xavier, you really think you’re something, don’t you? All because you get slightly better grades? What gives you the right to mediate the conflict between me and Shirley Ewing?"

Vera Xavier had once thought Laura White was just a spoiled brat—arrogant and proud, but nothing more. Now, she realized Laura’s arrogance was off the charts. It seemed she couldn’t stand it if she wasn’t number one.

She replied calmly, "You’re right, I have no standing to mediate the conflict between you and Shirley. And I never intended to. If you’re upset that Shirley and Fiona are close to me because of my grades, then you can take it up with me directly."

Hearing this, both Shirley Ewing and Fiona Wright froze for a moment. They truly hadn’t considered that possibility. In unison, they turned to look at Laura White.

With her true feelings exposed, Laura White’s face instantly flushed beet red. "Who do you think you are? Why on earth would I be jealous of you?"

Vera Xavier just smiled. "Oh, so you are jealous of me. That’s all right. I’ve always believed that jealousy can be a good motivator. I accept any challenge you want to throw my way. But asking me ’what’ I am wasn’t very polite. How about this: I’ll tell you when you finally surpass me in your studies."

Laura White was left speechless by Vera’s sharp, yet softly delivered, retort. After all, she had been the one to bring up the word "jealousy" in the first place.

After fuming for a moment, she finally burst out, "All you’re good for is studying! Your character is actually rotten to the core! Maybe Susan Caldwell was right about you. The moment you got to Veridia University, you started flirting with anyone and everyone, and you’re even fooling around with the Chief Instructor! Others might not know who that girl who went out with him was, but I do!"

"I was right there! I saw you and the Chief Instructor leave together that night with my own two eyes! And another thing—that time the Chief Instructor kept you after to talk, you came back with bright red lips. You said it was lipstick. Pfft! That was obviously from making out!"
