The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master

Chapter 704: Happy Times (4)

Chapter 704: Chapter 704: Happy Times (4)

In Nathaniel Nathan’s view, this was an enormous deal. It was also the greatest respect and reverence a man of his disposition could express.

Winter Sullivan smiled faintly. "It was just my duty. The soldiers risk their lives and spill their blood for us. I only want to do my small part."

"Alright, that’s enough, you two," Sheldon Caldwell cut in. "I’m telling you, Nathaniel Nathan, you’re usually so high and mighty it’s a miracle if you say an extra word. And now you’re being all polite to my mom? Are you some kind of impostor?"

Nathaniel Nathan shot him a cold glance. Sheldon immediately jumped in front of Winter Sullivan. "Mom, let me tell you, don’t be fooled by his act! This Nathaniel Nathan, he’s rotten to the core! He bullies me at the unit every single day. You have to put him in his place for me today!"

Winter Sullivan smiled lightly. "That just means your skills are lacking. Deputy General Manager Nathan is helping you improve, so you should be thanking him."

She then turned to Nathaniel Nathan. "When Sheldon isn’t being serious, he’s like a wild horse that’s thrown its rider—he doesn’t have much regard for the rules. Don’t lower yourself to his level. If he really does something out of line, feel free to give him a thrashing. I won’t have any objections."

Sheldon Caldwell let out a dramatic wail. "Mom, how could you? Are you my real mom or his?"

"Quiet!" Winter Sullivan shot him a glare. "What is all this nonsense you’re spouting? If you were half as outstanding as Deputy General Manager Nathan, I could finally stop worrying."

Nathaniel Nathan said earnestly, "Academician Sullivan, Sheldon is, in fact, half as outstanding as I am. You needn’t be too disappointed."

Winter Sullivan was taken aback for a moment, then broke into laughter.

Neither she nor Nathaniel Nathan were the type for pleasantries, especially since they knew each other’s backgrounds so thoroughly.

As she laughed, Nathaniel Nathan smiled as well.

Just then, Ronan Tate drove up to deliver vegetables, fruit, and other household supplies. He looked a little surprised to see Winter Sullivan, then gave her a respectful salute.

Winter Sullivan recognized Ronan Tate as well, a hint of surprise in her eyes. Ronan Tate had been an exceptionally distinguished figure at the security company. He had once come to her to get a weapons authorization slip signed. She had lost track of him after he was discharged from the military and never expected to find him with the Caldwell family.

Nathaniel Nathan hadn’t known Winter Sullivan and Sheldon Caldwell were coming. He had been planning a quiet day alone with Vera Xavier, and thinking she hadn’t been eating well at school, he’d had Ronan Tate prepare a mountain of ingredients.

Now that they were here, the ingredients Ronan Tate had prepared would come in very handy.

Vera Xavier had always felt there was something special about Ronan Tate. Now, seeing that he knew Winter Sullivan and that his salute was perfectly executed, she knew he must also be someone worthy of admiration. She silently made a decision: she would try to bully him a little less in the future.

Ronan Tate left after making his delivery. Sheldon Caldwell helped carry the groceries into the house, grinning as he did. "Did you two know we were coming? Is that why you prepared all this food?"

Nathaniel Nathan glanced at him. "You’re thinking too much."

Sheldon wasn’t fazed at all. He grinned. "Doesn’t matter to me. I’m just here to freeload. You prepared so much food, there’s bound to be a bite in it for me."

But Nathaniel Nathan was thinking about something else. "Dean Sullivan was just discharged from the hospital, and you bring her straight to my house. Are you doing this just to get back at me?"
