The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master

Chapter 702: Happy Times (2)

Chapter 702: Chapter 702: Happy Times (2)

’Those two are always flaunting their love and making me feel like a third wheel,’ Sheldon Caldwell thought. ’How can I just let them enjoy their private time together in peace?’

So, he goaded Winter Sullivan. "Mom, you wanted to see Vera Xavier, didn’t you? Why don’t we go pay her a visit!"

"Wouldn’t that be a little inappropriate?" Winter Sullivan hesitated. Even though she and Vera Xavier got along swimmingly and she liked the girl a lot, they had only met a few times. They weren’t what you’d call close. She felt a bit embarrassed about just barging in on someone like that.

But Sheldon Caldwell already had ulterior motives, and besides, he was shameless. "It’s fine. I know Nathaniel Nathan really well, so there’s nothing to be embarrassed about. Plus, Mom, didn’t you keep saying you wanted to meet him? He’s definitely with Vera Xavier today. We can’t pass up this chance!"

Winter Sullivan knew how outstanding Nathaniel Nathan was. They had both heard of each other and had seen one another from a distance on a few occasions, but they had never been formally introduced. That was why, when Winter Sullivan learned that Nathaniel and Sheldon Caldwell knew each other, she had mentioned it to her son.

Winter Sullivan had a high IQ, but her emotional intelligence when it came to social graces wasn’t particularly high. At that moment, it didn’t even cross her mind whether it was appropriate for them to drop in on Vera Xavier and Nathaniel Nathan while they were together. She was only thinking about how this trip would let her see both Vera and Nathaniel at the same time, so she immediately nodded in agreement.

And so, when Vera Xavier reached her front door, she saw Sheldon Caldwell’s car parked at the gate of her villa with Winter Sullivan inside.

She froze on the spot. Sheldon Caldwell was already helping Winter Sullivan out of the car. Winter looked rather apologetic, but Sheldon stood there shamelessly and said, "Vera Xavier, my mom was discharged from the hospital today and came to see you without even going home first. Aren’t you happy? Aren’t you touched?"

Vera Xavier was speechless.

Looking at her, Sheldon Caldwell continued, "We’re here to crash for dinner today. You don’t have to prepare anything too fancy. Just use a state banquet as a reference. Really, no need to go to any trouble."

’This guy is unbelievable,’ Vera thought. ’Can’t he act like the proper deputy general manager he is for once?’

Winter Sullivan shot him a glare, then turned to Vera with a smile. "We’re not disturbing you, are we?"

"Not at all, not at all!" Vera said quickly, smiling back. "I was actually planning to visit you in the next few days, Ms. Sullivan. I had no idea you’d be discharged today. I’m so happy you could come."

A slight smile touched Winter Sullivan’s lips. Vera then looked at Sheldon Caldwell and said, "If you want a state banquet, that’s easy enough. Go buy the groceries yourself. Otherwise, all I have to offer is a simple home-cooked meal."

Sheldon Caldwell pouted. "I’m your chief drill instructor for military training. Anyone with half a brain would be trying to suck up to me right now."

"And if I suck up to you, will you go easy on me?" Vera asked.

"Of course not. I’m an instructor with principles," Sheldon Caldwell said with a grin.

Vera looked at him with utter disdain. "If I can’t get any special treatment from you, why would I bother sucking up?"

Sheldon Caldwell was speechless.

Having said her piece, Vera looked at Winter Sullivan and said, "Ms. Sullivan, Sheldon Caldwell is trying to extort me right in front of you. That’s proof enough that he’s no good. You really need to keep him in line! Stop him before he gets into real trouble!"

Winter Sullivan laughed and played along, knowing they were just joking around.
