"They’re badmouthing us!" Vera Xavier said with a smile.
Fiona Wright froze for a moment before realizing it was still about what happened yesterday. She said, annoyed, "Didn’t we explain everything clearly yesterday? What else could they possibly have to say about us?"
"We might have explained everything yesterday, but how many students were actually there to see it? And a certain someone, who loves to flaunt her connections, is an expert at smearing people’s names. I’m sure she was working tirelessly last night to slander me," Vera Xavier said calmly.
After Laura White had warned Vera Xavier yesterday, Vera knew she must have overheard something to have come and given her a heads-up.
Based on Vera’s understanding of Susan Caldwell, she wouldn’t be Susan Caldwell if she gave up that easily.
So, it was completely expected that Susan Caldwell would twist the entire incident to slander Vera. She just hadn’t anticipated Susan would act so quickly.
What she didn’t know was that when Sheldon Caldwell punished Susan yesterday, the school’s leadership understood the implications, but the students hadn’t yet grasped the full picture.

"There are no ’buts’," Vera said slowly. "She did it."
Fiona’s eyes filled with worry. Seeing that no one was around, she whispered, "Did the Chief Instructor give you a hard time yesterday?"
She was still intimidated by Sheldon Caldwell, so even with no one else around, she didn’t dare bring up his relationship with Susan.
Vera turned to look at Fiona. "Never mind him. I just want to ask you one thing: do you believe me?"
"Of course I believe you!" Fiona said quickly. "I saw exactly what happened yesterday with my own two eyes!"
Vera nodded. "Then that’s enough. As long as my friends believe me, that’s all that matters. Who cares what anyone else thinks?"
’Susan is slandering me like this just to put me under immense pressure and set the stage for whatever she’s planning next. I couldn’t care less about her petty little tricks. Besides, it wouldn’t be too difficult for me to resolve this. It’s just not the right time to retaliate yet.’
’The more viciously Susan slanders me now, the harder the slap to her face will be later.’
’This kind of superficial attack truly couldn’t cause me any real harm or affect me in the slightest.’
