Whether Sheldon Caldwell had done it on purpose or not, all the students standing at attention were facing her. It was impossible for her to slack off even if she wanted to.
Vera Xavier wasn’t there to supervise her, but now it was as if every freshman was watching her instead.
’She had always considered herself superior to others, but today she’s being punished in front of so many people!’
’If I hadn’t given that speech on stage, it wouldn’t have mattered if no one recognized me. But because of it, every single freshman knows who I am!’
She felt aggrieved and worried. Although Sheldon Caldwell had also punished Vera Xavier, Vera’s punishment was much lighter. Coupled with the fact that Sheldon knew Vera from before, she couldn’t help but suspect he had discovered something was off. ’Why else would he punish me like this?’
In reality, she was overthinking it. The real reason Sheldon Caldwell didn’t dare to openly give Vera Xavier a hard time was that he was afraid of Nathaniel Nathan beating him up. He knew that with Nathaniel’s personality, he was more than capable of doing something like that.

And so, Susan Caldwell ran her remaining laps in a state of constant fear and humiliation.
The university’s president, Lane Yancey, also noticed her running laps and turned to the dean of students beside him. "Isn’t that the young woman who gave the speech on stage today?"
"Yes, she is," the dean of students replied. "That’s her. I believe she’s Mr. Caldwell’s daughter."
Lane Yancey had heard this rumor before, so he wasn’t surprised. He asked another question, "Is Deputy General Manager Caldwell personally leading this military training?"
The dean of students smiled. "He is. Normally, someone of Deputy General Manager Caldwell’s stature wouldn’t be involved in the training. The fact that he’s here in person shows how much importance he places on it."
Lane Yancey smiled as well. He had heard about Sheldon Caldwell’s background. There were only two young men in Veridia who were that promising. Both came from incredibly powerful families, yet they never flaunted their backgrounds. They were both so exceptional that they didn’t need their families’ support anyway.
Knowing Sheldon Caldwell’s identity, of course, meant he also knew the relationship between Sheldon and Susan Caldwell.
Lane Yancey asked, "How is Susan Caldwell’s academic record?"
"Her record is excellent. She was the top scorer on this year’s college entrance exam for Veridia," the dean of students replied.
As the top university in the country, Veridia University was never short on top scorers. While Susan Caldwell was excellent, she wasn’t the most exceptional student in her year.
After a moment’s thought, Lane Yancey understood the situation for the most part. "From now on, treat Susan Caldwell as an ordinary student. No special considerations. If she enters any competitions, she’s not to be given any preferential treatment because of her family. Judge her based on her actual abilities, nothing more."
A hint of confusion appeared in the dean’s eyes. He asked, "Won’t the Caldwell family have an issue with that?"
"The Caldwell family would have an issue if we *did* give her special treatment," Lane Yancey said slowly. "They’ve already made their stance clear. Don’t you see it? Besides, a university is a place for learning, not for exercising special privileges. Dean Sullivan has taught us all a valuable lesson in that regard."
Only a true authority in academia—a widely respected scholar—could become the president of Veridia University.
