Winter Sullivan was furious the moment she heard this. She told the official point-blank, "If my daughter is genuinely outstanding and you chose her as the freshman representative on her own merits, I have no objection. But if you’re giving her special treatment because of me and Caldwell, then it’s completely unnecessary. As far as I’m concerned, my daughter is her own person. When she’s not at home, she represents herself and no one else."
The university official was rather taken aback but still praised Susan Caldwell again.
But to Winter Sullivan’s ears, that praise sounded completely different. What she hated most in the world was people using her and Julian Caldwell’s name to seek so-called special privileges.
Susan Caldwell had done this before, and Winter had punished her severely for it.
She had thought Susan had learned her lesson over the years. She never imagined that on her very first day after officially moving into the school, Susan would be brazenly using her and Julian Caldwell’s influence to demand special privileges.

Winter Sullivan immediately told him, "Keep a close eye on your sister. She seems to think our family’s children are entitled to special privileges. Well then, this time, let’s let her enjoy a ’special privilege’ to the fullest."
Sheldon Caldwell understood his mother’s meaning instantly. So, on the very first day of military training, he gave Susan Caldwell a lesson she would never forget, indirectly teaching her that she must always rely on herself.
When things truly mattered, her own brother wouldn’t help her, and neither would her parents. They would only be stricter with her than any outsider would.
