Chapter 576: Chapter 576: She Scratched Him (4)

When Vera Xavier realized what she was doing, she found that he had already swept her up into a dizzying haze of passion.

She struggled to collect her scattered thoughts and scratched him across the back. The pain made him pause, and he stared at her with a gaze as wild as a beast’s.

Vera whispered, "It’s getting late. You should go! Otherwise, your mom is sure to give me a hard time!"

Nathaniel’s voice was low and hoarse. "Not early? I suppose not. If it were a little earlier, I could have slept with you before I left."

’Vera had been hearing him use that word a lot lately. She had a sneaking suspicion that if this happened a few more times, he’d soon ’sleep’ with her in the truest sense of the word.’

She cleared her throat and said the boldest thing she’d ever uttered in her life: "That’s true. But such a short amount of time wouldn’t live up to your renowned prowess."

’The moment the words left her mouth, she wanted to bite her tongue off!’

’Talk about a bad influence. He must have acted like a scoundrel in front of her one too many times for her to say something like that! She was losing her mind!’

Nathaniel shot her a look. "In that case, why don’t we set a proper time? I can give you a demonstration of my abilities in that department."

Vera’s face turned as red as a cooked lobster. She lowered her head, avoiding his gaze and refusing to continue the conversation.

Seeing her reaction, Nathaniel grinned wickedly. "You’re just a little too frail, though. Vera Xavier, here’s some advice: start running ten kilometers every day. Otherwise, I’m afraid you won’t have the stamina to keep up."

Vera: "..."

Nathaniel’s fingertip lightly traced her luscious red lips, then brushed over the column of her throat where her breathing was still uneven. He said with a hint of scorn, "Just from this? You’re already panting. Your stamina is truly terrible."

’Vera always thought of herself as good-tempered, but she couldn’t stand being provoked like this!’

So, she couldn’t stop herself from retorting, "It’s not a stamina issue! I’m breathless because I was just so worked up!"

"Worked up?" Nathaniel immediately seized on her choice of words. "So, I’m the one who got you so worked up?"

’Vera felt the urge to bite her own tongue off. Sure enough, the more she said in front of him, the more she tripped up. That detestable scoundrel!’

Nathaniel leaned in close, his voice softening into a low, hoarse murmur laced with endless temptation. "Actually, if you’re that worked up, you could just pounce on me. I promise I won’t fight back."

Vera felt there was no getting through to him. She lifted her leg and jabbed her knee toward a certain part of his anatomy. He hadn’t expected such a sudden move, and by the time he realized what was happening, the blow had already landed.

She sniffed. "I’m not someone you can just take advantage of!"

Nathaniel was slightly hunched over. He shot her a sidelong glance, his voice tight with anger. "Vera Xavier, you vicious little brat! Where the hell did you just hit me?!"

Seeing his pained expression, Vera quickly put some distance between them. He said in a pained mumble, "If you broke it, your happiness for the rest of your life would be ruined! Come over here and rub it for me!"

’Vera swallowed nervously. She knew perfectly well how much force she’d used just now—it wasn’t much. Besides, he had a high tolerance for pain. This was clearly a trap!’

’Besides, him asking her to rub *that* place? Yeah, right. She wasn’t an idiot! She wasn’t about to poke the bear again!’

So she just smiled at him and let out a big yawn. "I’m suddenly so sleepy. I’m heading upstairs to rest. You can see yourself out!"
