Chapter 544: Chapter 544: Meet the Parents (2)

So, Vera Xavier put on the long dress Nathaniel Nathan had chosen. Nathaniel came up behind her, let down her soft, long hair, and then pulled open a drawer in the vanity. Vera stared, dumbfounded. The drawer was filled with all kinds of jewelry.

Inside were beaded hair ornaments of all kinds, along with necklaces and bracelets. Every single piece was exquisite and beautiful—treasures nearly impossible to find on the market.

Though she had been living here for a few days, she wasn’t in the habit of rummaging through things, so she truly had no idea this drawer held so many treasures.

She looked at Nathaniel Nathan, a little surprised. He, however, said with utter calm, "Since I’m your kept man, I naturally have to act the part. Having these basic necessities prepared is a must."

Vera Xavier was speechless. ’Just who is keeping whom here?’

She chuckled and said, "How could this possibly be enough? What about shoes?"

She felt a little smug after saying that, seemingly pleased by Nathaniel’s oversight. Even someone as meticulous as him could miss something sometimes.

Nathaniel glanced at her but didn’t say a word, his expression as calm and composed as ever. He unhurriedly took a hair clip from the drawer in a shade that matched her dress and put it in her hair. His movements were a bit clumsy; it was clearly his first time doing such a thing.

But he did a fine job. The clip was adorned with pearl tassels, and this simple addition gave Vera an air of elegance.

Vera was also very pleased with the clip and admired it in the mirror.

He didn’t let her look for long, though. He took her by the hand and led her to a wardrobe in the walk-in closet. She didn’t see what he pressed, but with a soft CLICK, a huge mirror swung open. He gestured for her to go closer.

Vera glanced at him. His expression was impassive. She gave a slight shrug and walked over.

As she drew closer, she realized there was a door behind the huge mirror.

She reached out and gave it a gentle push. The door swung open, and she was left utterly speechless. Exquisite shoe racks were packed densely with shoes of every kind, from delicate high heels to rugged sneakers. They were organized by season—absolutely everything was there!

Vera gulped, feeling a little overwhelmed. ’Whoa, he thought of everything!’

A moment ago, she was planning to tease him about his preparations being incomplete. ’Good thing I didn’t say that out loud,’ she thought. ’That would’ve been a total slap in the face.’

She casually picked up a pair. The design was exquisite, and she could tell just by looking at them that they weren’t cheap.

Nathaniel spoke again. "Still think I’m missing the bags?"

This time, Vera was truly cowed and didn’t know how to respond. But then he pressed something else—she again missed what—and the shoe racks slid apart, the two rows converging to reveal another space. Inside were bags of all sizes and colors.

Vera realized for the first time that the largest room in the suite wasn’t the bedroom, but the walk-in closet.

Every detail of the interior design was ingenious. It didn’t feel cluttered or overwhelming, despite the sheer number of items, and the clever layout made the space feel more dynamic.

Vera turned to look at Nathaniel. She just couldn’t imagine how someone as cold as him could be so incredibly thoughtful about these things.

Nathaniel was quite satisfied seeing her dazed expression. ’This is the expression that suits her.’

’He should have seen these reactions from her sooner. On the day she moved in, she had clearly been out of sorts and had even changed the subject, so he hadn’t been in a rush to show all this to her.’
