Vera Xavier carefully navigated the crowd, then heard someone shout her name: "Vera Xavier!"
Vera Xavier frowned the moment she heard the voice. ’Talk about a ghost you can’t shake. He’s exactly that!’
’It was Wesley Kane. That bastard was already coming after her again so soon. Interesting.’
’She highly doubted Wesley Kane calling out to her at a time like this was for anything good. He was probably up to no good again!’
She turned her head slightly and saw Wesley Kane walking toward her with a wide grin. "Vera, honestly. I told you to wait for me to wake up so I could drive you to school. Why’d you come by yourself? You must be tired from carrying so much, huh?"
Vera Xavier’s eyes narrowed at his words. They had known each other for quite some time, but their interactions had never been the least bit amicable. ’What is he up to now?’
So she asked coolly, "Wesley Kane, what do you want?"
Wesley Kane burst out laughing. "What do I want? What can I possibly want? I just want to do you!"
Vera Xavier’s eyes narrowed. He laughed again and said, "We were so wild last night. You’re not gonna just pull on your pants and deny everything, are you? I’m a virtuous man, you know. You have to take responsibility for me."
This style of talking was strikingly similar to the scene he’d made at the gates of their high school.
The only difference was that what Wesley Kane was saying now was even more shameless.
’When Vera saw Wesley Kane yesterday, he had been scared to death of her. In just one day, he’d grown much bolder. It seemed someone was propping him up.’
’She didn’t even have to think to guess who was propping him up.’
She watched Wesley Kane with an icy gaze, her clear eyes completely devoid of warmth.
Wesley Kane, however, was completely unfazed. He said loudly, "I know you got a perfect score on all your exams, but even so, you’re still my wife. We’re family. Isn’t it a little inappropriate for you to be giving me such a sour look?"
He was strikingly handsome, but his words were crass, and a crowd of students immediately gathered to watch.
Damian Yale was still in the area helping out. Seeing this, he glanced at Vera Xavier in confusion. Vera had arrived alone, but first Sheldon Caldwell had come over to greet her, and now another good-looking man had popped up. She seemed to have a lot of suitors.
He could understand that a beautiful and capable girl would naturally have many suitors, but Wesley Kane’s words were simply too crude. For her to be involved with a man like that seemed a bit beneath her.
Autumn Rhodes leaned in close to him and said, "Who would’ve thought? Our perfect-score genius is actually so indiscreet in her private life."
Damian Yale said nothing, so Autumn Rhodes continued, "Don’t let her looks fool you."
Damian Yale’s brow furrowed, but he remained silent. He wanted to see how Vera Xavier would handle the situation.
Vera Xavier let out a soft chuckle and looked at Wesley Kane. "You just said I’m your wife?"
"That’s right!" Wesley Kane said with a wide smile. "Back home, you were kicking up a huge fuss, refusing to study, all because you wanted to be my wife. Your family’s situation isn’t great, I know, but you’re so beautiful that I reluctantly agreed. You’re not going to go back on your word now that you’ve gotten into Veridia University, are you?"
