Chapter 488: Chapter 488: His Care (2)
In addition to all the paperwork required to open the factory, there was also the matter of trademarks. Any medicine entering the market needed a trademark. To prevent unnecessary disputes down the line, she had already registered several of them at once.
Once the pharmaceutical factory was built, they could be put to full use.
The follow-up work would have to be handed over to Yorke Young and Jack Judd for them to manage. She was leaving for university in Veridia soon and wouldn’t be able to oversee every single detail herself.
After Grandma saw Jensen off, she stared at the money from the medicine sale in Vera Xavier’s hand, her eyes wide with astonishment. She took Vera’s hand and said, "Vera, you can really make money from this medicine? There won’t be any problems, will there?"
Vera Xavier chuckled lightly. "Grandma, you saw for yourself how well the medicine worked on Dad. What is there to doubt?"
Grandma realized Vera was right. ’That’s right! The medicine worked wonders after Zachary Preston took it!’
The way she looked at Vera Xavier grew even gentler. She had always thought of Vera as just a child, but this child had, without anyone realizing it, shouldered the burden of the entire family and become their pillar of support.
She murmured, "Vera, are you a little fairy sent by the heavens to save our Preston Family?"
Vera Xavier nearly choked on her own spit when she heard that. She let out a small cough and said with a perfectly straight face, "Maybe so!"
Grandma burst out laughing. "You silly girl," she said, looking at her. "Not a single ounce of modesty in you."
Vera Xavier laughed along with her. Grandma said with relief, "As long as your dad’s health improves, our family will have nothing left to worry about. You just focus on your studies and go to school with peace of mind! Don’t you worry about anything at home!"
Early the next morning, Nathaniel Nathan arrived to take Vera Xavier to the train station. Before she left, her grandmother handed her a large bag. "Snacks for the road."
Vera Xavier hefted the bag; it was quite heavy. Even though she felt it was unnecessary to bring so much for the trip, it was a gift from her grandmother, and she couldn’t bear to disappoint her.
So, she swung the bag onto her back, put on an exaggerated expression, and whined, "Oof, it’s so heavy! My back’s going to snap! Grandma, can you maybe pack a little less next time?"
Her grandmother shot her a glare. Just then, boarding began. Vera smiled and waved goodbye to her grandmother, but suddenly felt the load on her shoulders lighten. She twisted her head around to see Nathaniel Nathan had already slung the bag onto his own back.
That bag was filled entirely with food and was genuinely heavy. Vera had struggled to carry it, yet on his back, the large bag seemed as light as a feather, as if it weighed nothing at all.
Vera Xavier thought, ’There really is a natural difference in physical strength between men and women. His is so good, I can’t be a slouch either. I should start exercising properly.’
Seeing Nathaniel Nathan take the bag for Vera Xavier, Grandma’s heart filled with relief.
She had been worried that the disparity between the Preston Family and the Nathan Family was too great, and that Vera would be at a disadvantage. Furthermore, Nathaniel had such a cold and aloof personality that she feared he wouldn’t know how to dote on someone. But seeing how naturally he took the bag from Vera, she felt that perhaps he was just a quiet person, and deep down, he was truly caring.
Seeing this, most of her worries were put to rest. But as she watched Vera’s retreating back, her eyes grew moist. ’What a child to pull at your heartstrings. She hasn’t even gotten on the train, and I already miss her.’
After Vera Xavier and Nathaniel Nathan boarded the train, they had just stowed their luggage and sat down when she noticed Shane Caldwell sitting in the adjacent seat.
