Gao Yuan was surprised to see Yaoyao standing at the door!
’According to Yanyan, Yaoyao left after ten. Why is she back now?’
’And she’s holding a room key.’
’Of course, a suite has more than one key card, Gao Yuan knew that. But did Yaoyao plan to come back when she left, deliberately taking a key with her?’
Gao Yuan had his suspicions, but he wasn’t too concerned. After all, he was sitting here, fully dressed.
’Even if I were in bed, so what?’
Yaoyao wasn’t his woman, after all. It’s not like she could claim to have caught him cheating.
"What are you doing just standing there? Come on in."
Yaoyao walked toward Gao Yuan in a daze.
Her mind was reeling, too!
She had indeed gone out after ten to go shopping with her best friend, Li Yue. But while they were out, she started to feel like something was wrong.
When she’d woken up that morning, she thought she felt Yanyan stir.
At the time, she had been too focused on getting ready to leave to pay it much mind. But the more she thought about it, the more she suspected something was up with Yanyan, so she made an excuse to come back.
As for the room key, that was just a little quirk of hers. Whenever she traveled somewhere new and stayed in a different hotel, she would take a key card as a souvenir.
She just never thought she’d actually find a huge surprise waiting for her on this trip back.
Sitting across from Gao Yuan, Yaoyao’s eyes flickered between him and the bedroom. She was highly suspicious that something had happened between Gao Yuan and that Yanyan.
Just as she was lost in thought, Yanyan walked out of the bedroom. Seeing that Yanyan was also fully dressed, it didn’t seem like anything was about to happen between the two of them.
When Yanyan saw Yaoyao sitting in the living room, she froze for a second, her expression turning a little stiff. This time, however, she didn’t get into a staring contest with Yaoyao, but instead walked right over and sat down on the sofa.
"Let’s go. Weren’t we going shopping?"
Gao Yuan really didn’t want to stay here a moment longer. The living room looked fine, but the "battlefield" in the bedroom hadn’t been cleaned up yet—especially that splash of red on the comforter.
He stood up and headed for the door. Yanyan shot Yaoyao a glance, then followed him.
Although still suspicious, Yaoyao quickly followed as well.
In the hotel lobby, Gao Yuan told the two girls to wait for him while he went to take care of the room.
Yanyan was, indeed, a virgin, and they hadn’t thought to put down a towel or anything. That red stain was probably still on the comforter.
Since he’d already extended his stay, he might as well just switch rooms. That would prevent Yaoyao from coming back after their shopping trip and discovering the evidence.
He had been the one to invite Yanyan shopping today, so Gao Yuan was already prepared to spend some money. His original plan was to buy Yanyan some clothes and a handbag, but now that Yaoyao had tagged along, he’d just have to buy a little extra.
As they got to the car, Yaoyao quickened her pace and walked straight to the passenger side door. Clearly, she wanted to sit in the front seat today.
Yanyan, on the other hand, stayed obediently by Gao Yuan’s side, showing no intention of competing with Yaoyao as she simply opened the rear door.
This maneuver left Yaoyao feeling both smug and a little like she’d thrown a punch into a wad of cotton.
With a hmph, she got into the passenger seat.
Gao Yuan sat in the driver’s seat, caught Yanyan’s eye in the rearview mirror, and gave her a slight smile.
He found himself even more pleased with Yanyan now. At the very least, the young woman knew her place. Now that she had what she wanted, she wasn’t being competitive or demanding.
It was a rare and valuable quality. Too many people in this world couldn’t figure out their place—like Yaoyao, for instance.
Perhaps it was her personality, or perhaps it was because she had known Gao Yuan first, but she seemed to have a first-come, first-served mentality.
But in reality, Yanyan had put in her work behind the scenes. And if you were to get technical about it, she was also the one who’d been ’entered’ first.
It was "Crazy Thursday," so the mall was quite crowded.
The three of them strolled through the mall together. Gao Yuan was in no hurry; he’d already told Lin Wanyu and Li Mengqing that he would be home late, so he was simply enjoying the walk with the two young women.
As they passed various shops, Gao Yuan would lead them inside to browse, then sit back leisurely and watch the two try on clothes.
Yanyan still lacked a certain worldliness. She probably wasn’t used to luxury brands, because whether she was picking out clothes or handbags, she wasn’t nearly as comfortable or decisive as Yaoyao.
Fortunately, having Gao Yuan sitting nearby gave her a good deal of confidence. After visiting a few shops, she finally shed her timidity.
She was now carrying four or five shopping bags, which held the two outfits and one handbag Gao Yuan had bought for her, and she was beaming the entire time.
To her, these were things she had only ever dreamed of, and now they were real.
She’d already decided that as soon as she got back, she would throw away all her knockoffs. From now on, she would only use the real deal.
Of course, she understood that Gao Yuan had given her all this. Without him, she would turn back into Cinderella.
Unlike Yanyan, Yaoyao only picked out one outfit. For once, she wasn’t trying to compete with Yanyan.
While they were trying on clothes earlier, she’d noticed that Yanyan actually knew nothing about luxury goods, which instantly gave her a feeling of superiority.
The three of them shopped until well after eight. Gao Yuan raised his wrist to check his watch. It was about time to call it a night.
For a man, shopping was actually pretty boring. Even with two women along, at most, it just gave him something nice to look at.
"I extended the stay for the room. You two can head back on your own, alright?"
