Chapter 4569: Probe
Chapter 4569: Probe
Lu Yin exhaled. "For a long time, a being from Obscura has been plotting against Ruinfall. That is a rumor running around the Abysses. I heard it from Great Golden Wings who followed Dark Prisonbone, but at the time, I did not know about Obscura. Now, it seems to be you. Right, Senior Purple?"
"Oh? Dark Prisonbone attacked you because of Great Golden Wings? That makes sense. All those scruffy birds are petty," Old Man Hehe commented, though they did not deny plotting against Ruinfall.
Lu Yin exclaimed, "To be able to plot against one of the seven Abyssals and even leave the entire Death Megaverse struggling to deal with what you’ve done, you are truly formidable, Senior Purple. Since that is the case, then no matter what your identity may be, I believe that you can accomplish anything.
"Only, now that I see this clearly, I realize that there is no need for me to share Ruinfall's location with you. You will certainly learn it yourself, as you are the trigger for this plan."
"I’m not quite that impressive." Old Man Hehe laughed, not caring about the idea of being the trigger.
Lu Yin solemnly stated, "Capturing a branch of the River of Aeons is not difficult. The only problem lies in the possibility of being dragged away by the main stream. Even Ruinfall cannot withstand that. If I do this too many times, it will become very dangerous, so it may not be easy for me to complete this deal with you."
"Hehe, capture as many as you can. In any case, this offer will always be open. This also gives you time to think about what you want," Old Man Hehe replied.
Lu Yin nodded. "I understand."
Old Man Hehe praised him, "While both of you are human, you are much more polite than that Lu Yin brat, hehe."
With that, the ancient voice vanished.
Lu Yin looked at the cliff. Why is that old thing always here? Has he settled down in Vestigium?
White had managed to disable Obscura’s gates, stopping all other members of Obscura from moving about, but they could not stop Old Man Hehe alone. This ancient powerhouse was very likely the member of Obscura who had passed Lu Yin several notes.
Regardless of Old Man Hehe's position, they had not joined in the war to destroy the Nine Ramparts long ago, and they had even helped when the Trio had faced a true calamity. Lu Yin would always remember that favor.
Just as he was about to leave Vestigium, another voice spoke up. This time, the Immortal Lord called out to Lu Yin, "You are human, aren't you?"
Lu Yin sat down cross-legged and calmly replied, "I once was but am no longer. What do you want?"
"Then what are your thoughts concerning human civilizations?" the Immortal Lord asked.
"Senior, you may speak directly. Although I have only just joined Obscura, I still have no obligation to answer such a question."
"Fine. Please remember these coordinates." They proceeded to share coordinates that used the Plume Immortals’ great tree as a reference point. Both Obscura and the Death Megaverse should be aware of the location of that tree, which made it the most suitable point of reference.
These coordinates were... the location of the Trio.
Lu Yin kept his voice neutral. "What is this about, Senior?"
The Immortal Lord's tone fluctuated. "There is a human civilization at these coordinates. I hope that you can help them."
Lu Yin lifted his head to stare at the coffins hidden among the vines along the cliff. Help this human civilization? What a stupid excuse. If they really wanted me to help humanity, how could they share the coordinates of the Trio so easily?
Lu Yin’s skeleton clone belonged to both the Death Megaverse and Obscura, so such a request made no sense. Even if he was a human skeleton, there was still no reason to accept such a request. At the very least, the Immortal Lord should have tested Lu Yin first.
Besides, why would the Immortal Lord care about humanity? Because of Lu Yin? Impossible.
The reason why he had managed to suppress the Immortal Lord in the past was because of the Dao sword that he had hidden within the Immortal Lord and used to kill Ming Yu. That incident had caused the Immortal Lord to be absolutely hated by the Plume Immortals and forced them to join Obscura. Everything was predicated on Lu Yin’s own strength. At the moment, his true body only had one more chance to take action, which clearly indicated how terribly he had been suppressed by Wang Wen. For the Immortal Lord to still want to help his human civilization at this juncture was entirely unreasonable.
What exactly did the Immortal Lord want?
The truth was that, after the war against the Trio, Lu Yin had already expected the Immortal Lord's thoughts to definitively change.
This was a test, one that only he, as Lu Yin, could immediately pick up on. If he were not a skeleton clone but rather a true being of the Death Megaverse, he would have never known that he was being tested.
However, why was the Immortal Lord testing Chen?
Lu Yin's tone grew cold. "Senior, are you on good terms with this human civilization?"
The Immortal Lord replied, "The human civilization’s glory faded away long ago. I merely have some connections with humanity. As for you, you were once a human, and humans place great value in their emotional connections. That is their weakness but also their strength."
"So, you think that I will help them, Senior?"
"I do not know. It is just that they are struggling greatly, and I hope that you can do something."
Lu Yin asked again, "Does Obscura know of this human civilization?"
The Immortal Lord remained silent for a moment. "...It does not."
It does not? Lu Yin considered the matter even more carefully. Sure enough, the Immortal Lord was testing him. All of his previous interactions with the Immortal Lord flashed through Lu Yin’s mind as he tried to pinpoint the Immortal Lord's true purpose with this test, but he could not figure it out.
His skeleton clone had no connection with the Immortal Lord at all.
Or could it be because of Wang Wen? Could Wang Wen or Ba Se have asked the Immortal Lord to test me? That isn’t impossible.
"But I heard that the one called Lu Yin is human."
"He has nothing to do with the human civilization at this location."
"Then why don't you speak with him?"
The Immortal Lord fell silent.
Lu Yin suddenly projected his voice to resound throughout Vestigium. "Ba Se, there is something I wish to say!"
"Please speak."
Lu Yin stood up. "Just now, a senior of Obscura addressed me privately and shared some coordinates, saying that it is the location of a human civilization and that they hope that I will help them."
For a moment, Vestigium fell silent. Then, Old Man Hehe's laughter rang out. "Someone did such a thing? Hehe, which member of Obscura has such strong feelings for humanity?"
Furball's voice was frigid. "Immortal Lord, that was you, wasn't it? Other than you, no one else would try to help human civilization. You really are protective."
"Hehe, Cyan, didn't you leave?"
"I didn’t leave completely just yet," Furball casually replied.
The Immortal Lord said nothing. At this moment, they were within a coffin, staring at Lu Yin beneath the Divine Tree. He actually immediately revealed our conversation?
Ba Se indifferently responded, "That is a private matter between you and that member of Obscura. There is no need to share such details with me."
Lu Yin retorted, "Humanity was once an enemy of Obscura. I believe that it is necessary to say this: we absolutely cannot allow a human civilization to rise again!"
"Hehe, little fellow, you were once human yourself. Why do you hate your own civilization so much? Or is the human form that you revealed false?"
Lu Yin gritted his teeth. "First of all, I am not human. I am a human skeleton that tore free of my flesh and blood, changing the essence of my life. Strictly speaking, humans restricted my freedom, and the current me is the real me.
"Second, even if I was once human, I am also a descendant of humans who were abandoned by the Nine Ramparts. How could I possibly help a human civilization? I have closer ties to both the Death Megaverse and Obscura than I do to any human civilization. Once a human civilization flourishes again, it will absolutely not tolerate an anomaly like me. In fact, from what I understand, humanity’s determination to eliminate an anomaly like me should surpass even their determination to destroy foreign enemies."
As Lu Yin continued, he shared the coordinates that the Immortal Lord had given him. "If Obscura requires it, I will personally make a trip and destroy this human civilization!
"As for the member who said that they hope for me to help this human civilization, please understand the situation clearly: no human civilization can be helped."
Furball praised him. "Smart! Humans are despicable and cunning. They should never be helped! Immortal Lord, your master is already doomed. If you can’t recognize that, then don’t stay with Obscura. You still want to help that human civilization? Ridiculous!"
"Hehe."
No one else spoke, and the Immortal Lord also did not speak with Lu Yin again.
Lu Yin left Vestigium. Although he had engaged in a battle of wits and courage with the various members of Obscura, that was far easier than when it had been his true body interacting with them. The feeling of not being completely surrounded by hostility was far too comfortable.
His true body had already been pushed to its limit. Only by having his clone take action in the darkness while his true body stood in the light could he continue to move forward.
Lu Yin simply did not know how long or how far he would have to travel through the darkness.
After leaving Vestigium, he arrived in the Qi Megaverse. In the future, there would be no need to travel to the Qi Megaverse. He would be able to enter Vestigium through his own gate from anywhere.
When he emerged, Furball had just happened to be leaving Vestigium as well.
While they were both in the Qi Megaverse, Furball continued to praise the human skeleton, pouring on the flattery. Listening to them, one would think that they had raised him.
Of course, Lu Yin offered some pleasant words in return. He needed Furball to be his ally within Obscura.
His true body had been deliberately antagonistic towards Furball, but his clone would not do that. Furball was far too easy to use. Their temper was volatile, and they dared to argue with anyone, which made them the most suitable tool within Obscura.
The two continued to compliment each other for a while. "That Immortal Lord is such a fool! They actually wanted you to help a human civilization? Stupid!"
"Indeed. I feel that we must be cautious of that Immortal Lord. They might do something to help humanity."
"Hmph! Human civilization can no longer do anything. With the Keeper of Balance involved, they don’t dare do anything."
"That is good. In that case, I will take my leave."
"Fine. From now on, when speaking in Vestigium, just follow my lead," Furball said, which could also be considered a gentle warning.
Lu Yin immediately replied, "Of course. I will stand with you, Senior."
"Haha, good! You may go. Right!"
Furball suddenly thought of something, but hesitated for a moment before saying, "If that human Lu Yin enters Vestigium, don’t provoke him for now. I know that you loathe humans, but be a little bit polite.
"I’m not saying this out of fear, but there is simply no need to have a falling out with that man. It is simply not worth it."
Lu Yin found this quite funny. Furball was afraid that he would cause trouble for them. "Senior, is that Lu Yin really so powerful? He has only just broken into the Immortal realm. Can he really already fight against three-law Immortal beings?"
"Bullshit!" Furball very much wanted to deny it, but they immediately remembered the multiple supreme powerhouses who had died during the assault on the Trio. "...It’s not as exaggerated as that. I’m not afraid of him, but... Obscura’s rules state that we cannot attack one another. I’m telling you to just be polite so that he doesn’t target you and reveal your identity in the Death Megaverse. Although his strength might only be average, he has countless methods. He is very difficult to deal with."
"But I am in the Death Megaverse, which is so far away."
"He can teleport."
Lu Yin pretended to be badly startled. "Teleport? Isn't that the Plume Immortals’ unique ability?"
Furball sounded both envious and jealous. "That is precisely why you shouldn’t casually provoke him. Who knows when or where that fellow might appear?"
Saying this, Furball instinctively glanced around, afraid that Lu Yin might suddenly appear. After all, they had said plenty of bad things about Lu Yin during this conversation.
Teleportation was too infuriating an ability to deal with.
Lu Yin left. Furball was very enthusiastic, and because they were afraid that he would be too slow, they even offered to send him off, but Lu Yin politely declined.
On his way back to Thousand Machinations' Abyss, Lu Yin kept considering his various encounters with the members of Obscura. This could also be considered an opportunity. After all, not just anyone could move between the Death Megaverse and Obscura, let alone with high-level figures on both sides knowing about it.
