Chapter 4568: Lu Yin's Performance

Ba Se emphasized a second time, "I cannot choose for you. Please choose the star tier of the mission you wish to accept."

They had never encountered anyone so loyal before.

Lu Yin shrugged. "You can’t choose for me, Senior? You refuse to let me accept the highest star tier mission, so a five-star mission then."

Ba Se sounded helpless. "Please accept a mission that matches your own ability. Otherwise, your actions may be seen as stalling for time because you do not wish to complete your mission."

This was the first time that Ba Se had ever mentioned stalling by not completing a mission. Not even Lu Yin's main body had ever heard such a comment. This showed how important his clone was to Obscura.

Lu Yin thought for a moment. "If I kill an Abyssal, what would be the tier of that mission?"

Ba Se revealed a rare show of surprise. "Kill an Abyssal?"

Lu Yin nodded. "One of the seven Abyssals, Ruinfall."

Ba Se fell silent.

Lu Yin looked at the sheer cliffs and the coffins there that were somewhat hidden behind the vines. There were so many of them, and yet Obscura had no more than twelve members at most, and he had never heard more than twelve voices. Was it possible that there were other hidden members?

Lu Yin's words had clearly startled even Ba Se. After all, the Death Megaverse only had seven Abyssals, and those powerhouses rarely ever died.

Did he actually have the confidence to kill an Abyssal?

Normally, Ba Se would not believe such a claim, but Lu Yin had directly named Ruinfall, which meant that he had to know something.

Ba Se finally replied, "If you kill an Abyssal, it would be considered a five-star mission."

Lu Yin exclaimed, "That high?"

A five-star mission was equivalent to the difficulty of destroying a fishing civilization.

Yet that also seemed about right. Every Abyssal was a two-law powerhouse, and each one should be approaching the peak of their realm. For someone as strong as Death's Dominion, it was not impossible to destroy a fishing civilization.

Withered Requiem was one of the weaker Abyssals, but even they had waged a war against the Divine Realm. Even though the two sides had not been equally matched, Withered Requiem had still been able to retreat to safety.

Each Abyss approached the power of a fishing civilization.

"You want to kill Ruinfall?" Wang Wen spoke up. Ba Se had privately informed him of this matter.

Lu Yin's heart stirred. Wang Wen was indeed the most special member of Obscura. Lu Yin had clearly been having a private conversation with Ba Se, and yet Wang Wen was still aware of what they had discussed. Either he was able to hear every conversation held within Obscura, or Ba Se had told him.

The position of Keeper of Balance was clearly a mission that could be accepted within Obscura, though the qualifications to accept it were very difficult to fulfill. Also, there was only one within Obscura. Why was the position so special?

As Lu Yin considered Wang Wen's various deeds, no matter how he looked at it, Wang Wen was somewhat different from the other members of Obscura.

His thoughts churned as he offered a respectful answer, sharing the Death Megaverse's plan to help Ruinfall escape the pull of the River of Aeons’ main stream. This was the first bit of important information that he was providing after joining Obscura.

Regardless of whether Wang Wen was already aware of this information, by sharing it, Lu Yin’s contribution became official. This was a matter that concerned the life of an Abyssal, so it was definitely not small.

Wang Wen even praised him, "Your willingness to reveal this is enough to show your loyalty to Obscura."

Lu Yin replied, "The Death Megaverse has controlled this junior with Bone Script, while Obscura has saved this junior's life and even taught me methods to use divine energy. There is an essential difference between this place and the Death Megaverse. Given a choice, this junior will definitely help Obscura completely eradicate the Death Megaverse."

Wang Wen grunted in acknowledgement. "Tell everyone in Obscura about this."

Lu Yin immediately projected his voice across Vestigium, sharing the details of Ruinfall's matter.

When he finished, Furball's astonished voice rang out. "Is there actually such a plan? The Death Megaverse is preparing quite the scheme. It would be great if we could use this to destroy an Abyssal.

"Green, you did well. Very well! Without you, how could we have possibly known about this? Hahahaha."

Although they were displeased that Lu Yin had obtained Heavenbond Art and received Wang Wen’s praise, the information that the skeleton had revealed was still related to Furball. If not for them, how could this skeleton have joined Obscura?

Furball had simply not expected to feel such a sense of accomplishment so quickly. If this information could be used to bring about Ruinfall’s death, they would be able to hold their head high within Obscura.

Lu Yin followed right along. "This is entirely thanks to Senior Cyan for bringing me into Obscura. Otherwise, even if I knew more, it would be useless. I would only be able to watch as the Death Megaverse preserved Ruinfall as an Abyssal."

"Hahahaha." Furball was delighted.

Old Man Hehe spoke up. "Interesting..."

"Purple, is this plan feasible?" Ba Se asked.

"It is, though under the premise that we know nothing about it. Now that we know the truth, and especially now that we know the Death Megaverse wants to find a catalyst, hehe..."

Wang Wen calmly stated, "It is time to settle the matter of You Che's death with the Death Megaverse. Exchanging You Che for Ruinfall is no loss."

Old Man Hehe laughed. "Little Green, I will have to trouble you to share Ruinfall's location with us when the time comes, hehe."

Lu Yin very enthusiastically agreed. "I will definitely tell all of you seniors."

Furball said, "If Ruinfall dies, there will be another competition for the position of Abyssal. Green, when that time comes, you can join the competition."

Lu Yin grew excited. "Really? Then can I break through to the Immortal realm?"

"Hehe."

Wang Wen remained calm. "There is no need to hurry. As soon as you break through, many things will become restricted. Your current state is perfect."

"Understood," Lu Yin replied.

"Hehe, you do not need to be disappointed. Not breaking through to the Immortal realm is not to say that you cannot become stronger. You should know that an Aberrant can also kill an Abyssal."

Lu Yin was shocked. "An Aberrant can kill an Abyssal? Impossible!"

"Of course, not any Abyssal. Not every Abyssal is a peak two-law Immortal being," Old Man Hehe clarified.

Lu Yin still did not believe it. "No matter how powerful an Aberrant may be, it is impossible for one to have the strength needed to kill an Abyssal. Even if the Abyssal is not a peak two-law powerhouse, that cannot change. I understand just how powerful the Abyssals are. Just like the Abysses themselves, such strength is bottomless.

"It is no exaggeration for me to say that I have nearly reached the peak of what is possible for an Aberrant. I possess as much Stillness as an Abyssal, as well as a vast amount of divine energy. I have also learned all the battle techniques in the Death Codex, as well as Obscura's life-saving techniques. Combined with the Grand Clarity sourcebox array, I am confident that I can defeat even a peak one-law Immortal being, and yet I am still powerless against an Abyssal.

"To be honest with all of you seniors, the reason why I am so dissatisfied with the Death Megaverse is not only because Bone Script deprives me of my freedom, but also because I was once attacked by Dark Prisonbone and thrown beneath an Abyss like a piece of garbage. If I had not managed to crawl out by myself, I would have never been able to come to Vestigium. When Dark Prisonbone attacked me, I did not have the strength to even fight back. I was not even able to see what it looked like."

Furball was astonished. "Dark Prisonbone?"

Ba Se said, "Because of their special nature, Plume Immortals constantly die and are replaced, but those birds also have a few old monsters that are very difficult to kill. Shang Jing is one. Second only to it is Gao Tian, but aside from those two, there is one more. That is Dark Prisonbone, which has already fallen and become an Abyssal of the Death Megaverse. If not for an accident long ago, it would have never been granted Bone Script. It can no longer be considered a Plume Immortal, as it is only alive by continuing on as another lifeform.

"Against Dark Prisonbone, let alone you, but even Withered Requiem, who granted you Bone Script, would not have been able to perform much better. There is no need to use Dark Prisonbone as a standard by which to measure all Abyssals."

Old Man Hehe jumped in. "The strongest Aberrant that we have ever seen is that little fellow Lu Yin. He is also a member of Obscura, though he has since broken through to the Immortal realm."

Lu Yin pretended to be curious. "Is he the Aberrant that you mentioned, Senior? The one who could kill an Abyssal?"

"Hehe."

Furball grew contemptuous. "Saying he could kill an Abyssal is a bit of an exaggeration."

Wang Wen smiled. "That is no exaggeration. At the very least, Devouring Trace and Withered Requiem might not have been his opponents when he was still an Aberrant. In fact, if he had used every means at his disposal and fought with his life on the line, then provided that no external force interfered, he might have even been able to kill Death's Dominion. I have never underestimated his Royal Chesspiece."

Lu Yin curiously asked, "Then how strong is he now that he has broken through and become an Immortal being?"

"Hehe, little fellow, do you want to compare him to yourself?" Old Man Hehe grew interested.

Lu Yin did not answer. His meaning was very clear: the skeleton was comparing himself to how Obscura viewed Lu Yin.

Ba Se answered, "After breaking through to the Immortal realm, he gained the strength to fight against a three-law powerhouse. The main reason for that is that he possesses too many methods. If he truly fights with his life on the line, no one knows what his limits might be."

Lu Yin clicked his tongue and wanted to say something more, but he was interrupted by Furball. "Enough. Why bring that fellow up for no reason? It’s just bad luck. Little Green, I am heading back. If you want to return to the Death Megaverse, you can return through the Qi Megaverse. Go back whenever you want."

After saying this, they left Vestigium.

Silence fell. No one spoke again.

Lu Yin was in no hurry to leave. Instead, he continued to cultivate Sword Planting. He needed to demonstrate his attitude towards Obscura.

Since this clone had joined Obscura, there were far too many things for him to do. How he could use Obscura against the Death Megaverse, and how he could use the Death Megaverse against Obscura were both things that he needed to consider carefully. The complexity of the situation gave him quite a headache.

Before long, Old Man Hehe spoke up again. "Green, do you want to make a deal?"

Lu Yin's heart stirred. "You are... Senior Purple?"

He absolutely could not use the name Old Man Hehe. If he did, he would give himself away.

"You can also call me Old Man Hehe."

Lu Yin was speechless. "..."

Are all of them so satisfied with the nicknames I gave them? They’re all unconsciously using those names. Or is it just that no one ever did something like that before, so it gives them a different kind of amusement?

"Old Man Hehe?"

"Hehe, you may call me that."

"What deal do you want to make?"

"I need branches of the River of Aeons. Many, many branches. As long as you help me gather them, I can trade you whatever you want. Anything at all."

Lu Yin sounded puzzled. "Branches of the River of Aeons? Who are you?"

"You do not need to know. You only need to consider what you wish to obtain from me."

"But I do not even know your identity. How can I know what I can obtain from you?" Lu Yin replied.

Old Man Hehe said, "Your tone sounds rather similar to that little fellow Lu Yin's."

Lu Yin was startled and knew that this was bad. It was easy to change one’s appearance, but things like personality and manner of speech were not. He had unconsciously exposed himself.

"Are all humans like this? Skilled at hiding and also skilled at verbal sparring?" Old Man Hehe asked.

Lu Yin did not answer. At a moment like this, the more he said, the more mistakes he would reveal.

"It will not be easy for you to uncover my identity, and you do not need to think so much. Just focus on what you want. Anything at all. If I cannot do something, I will of course make that clear to you. Of course, there are not many things that I cannot accomplish.
