Chapter 469: What Will Happen After the Seawater is Purified?
Chapter 469 -467: What Will Happen After the Seawater is Purified?
Perhaps the influence of the Heart of Happiness was just that strong. In any case, ever since Faye Yardley had set foot on the island, her sense of satisfaction grew with each passing day. Just looking at the Seven-Colored Tree filled her with a sense of well-being.
It wasn’t right to disturb people late at night, but disturbing Franklin Yardley was perfectly fine.
Besides, he was looking after the furniture for her new home. Even though it wasn’t all finished, he was the one taking in the pieces that were.
She dismounted upon reaching the residential town, letting Bella return to the raft on its own. Then, like a phantom, she entered the town and slipped over to Franklin Yardley’s home.
“Island Master, you’re here. Would you like some tea? It’s green tea, made from leaves picked and roasted from a tea tree we found on the island.”
Faye Yardley nodded. “Yes, please. I’d love a cup, Mr. Franklin.”
After collecting her furniture, asking about the general situation on the island, and grabbing a large jar of tea leaves for the road, Faye Yardley slipped away.
Back at her new residence, she arranged the furniture. Seeing the house no longer empty, Faye Yardley felt an inexplicable sense of peace settle over her.
‘If only I had a few robots. I could have them cultivate some fields outside and plant fruits and vegetables. Life could be quite pleasant.’
Of course, she had no intention of picking up a hoe and doing the work herself. She just wanted to sit back and reap the rewards.
She spent the night in the master bedroom in the east wing. And even though she slept soundly and sweetly, the habit of waking up at 4 a.m. was ingrained in her very bones. No amount of comfort could change it.
The moment the time came, she got up automatically.
After washing up and patting her cheeks, Faye Yardley sighed. “I really thought I’d sleep in. Looks like my days of lazing in bed are completely over.”
Still, she was inwardly pleased with her self-discipline. ‘Good. I haven’t been swayed by my new environment.’
Now that she was up, she didn’t linger. She wanted to see what kind of chemical reaction would occur between two Magic Plants with such similar abilities.
So she hurried back to the raft. To her surprise, Willow Yardley told her that Leo Sloan had already delivered all the canned food for her last night.
Bonnie Callahan had also stopped by. When she found out Faye wasn’t there, she left some flowers she had grown herself and took her leave.
Wade Warren had come with Bonnie. He brought a tiny puppy for her, a gift. He said it was one of the pups born to a dog he’d tamed on the island, and it was only ten days old.
“Where is it?”
Willow Yardley pointed toward the house. “It’s taken over Blackwood’s Pet Sofa and refuses to budge.”
“And Blackwood is okay with that?” As she spoke, it dawned on Faye. “Hey, you two woke up so quickly this time. Does that mean eating more won’t have any effect?”
Willow Yardley smiled and nodded. “I think so. Thank you, sister.”
“Don’t be so formal with me. Come on, let’s go back out to sea and find the Thunder Tree.”
Bramble immediately coiled around her wrist.
Once they were back at sea, Bramble dove into the water on its own. The raft approached the border and stopped some distance away. Faye Yardley herself ran across the surface of the water, sprinting toward The Thunderhead.
Her lightning immunity Attribute was incredible, allowing her to move freely within The Thunderhead.
As she drew near, the Thunder Tree extended its branches to welcome her.
Landing in the Thunder Tree’s canopy, Faye Yardley said with a smile, “You’ve grown so much! I could see you from a long way off. You’ve met the Thunder Arc Flower before. What do you think about me bringing its main body over to help you purify this area?”
The Thunder Tree conveyed its willingness to have the other plant join it. Faye smiled and asked, “Can you produce another Thunder Fruit? A smaller one, with effects that aren’t as potent as the last one.”
The Thunder Tree never refused its master’s requests. It immediately condensed a smaller Thunder Fruit for her.
Faye Yardley took it and leaped from the canopy. “Thanks for your hard work. I’ll be back with someone—and a tree—in a bit.”
The moment she was back on the raft, Faye Yardley contacted Zachary Pierce. He was clearly prepared; right after she sent the invitation, he arrived, holding a small sapling that was crackling with electrical arcs.
Before Zachary Pierce could say a word, Faye Yardley handed him the smaller Thunder Fruit. “Mr. Pierce, eating this will boost your lightning resistance. That way, you can enter The Thunderhead with me. I think it’s better for you to see what’s going on for yourself.”
Looking at the Thunder Fruit in his hand, Zachary Pierce didn’t stand on ceremony. “Thank you.”
Once he had eaten it, Faye Yardley led him and his sapling toward the Thunder Tree.
As soon as they entered The Thunderhead, the Thunder Arc Tree began to grow at an astonishing rate, getting bigger and bigger until it was as thick as two people’s arms could encircle.
Then, to their astonishment, the Thunder Arc Tree sank directly into the sea.
Faye Yardley and Zachary Pierce exchanged a look before diving into the water after it.
Faye wasn’t sure if it was because her lightning resistance was maxed out or because the Thunder Tree and Thunder Arc Tree were nearby, but in any case, neither she nor Zachary felt the slightest electric current.
They followed it deep into the ocean. Then, as Faye Yardley and Zachary Pierce watched in amazement, the Thunder Arc Tree suddenly disintegrated, scattering into countless tiny electrical arcs.
Faye even saw Bramble’s vines in the deep sea here.
The black seawater here was already beginning to lighten. ‘If it becomes clear again,’ she wondered, ‘what will happen to this region?’
In the water, Zachary Pierce witnessed the change in the sea’s color firsthand. The bizarre deep-sea fish were dealt with by the Magic Plants before either of them even had a chance to act.
After the two returned to the raft, Zachary Pierce said, “I’ll leave the Thunder Arc Tree here for the time being. I’m going to head back now. How long do you plan to stay?”
Faye Yardley said she wasn’t sure how long she would be, but she promised to invite him back to retrieve the Thunder Arc Tree before she left.
But Zachary Pierce told her not to hurry. He said they should wait until this area was completely dealt with, adding that the border on the other side would also need the help of Faye’s Thunder Tree.
Faye Yardley didn’t object to this.
At the end of the day, Magic Plants all required energy. Sharing an energy source was a rare opportunity.
“Mr. Pierce, what do you think will happen after the seawater is purified?”
“I don’t know. But no matter what, getting rid of the source of the pollution has to be a good thing.” With that, Zachary Pierce departed.
Faye Yardley murmured in agreement. She thought it was a good thing, too. At the very least, this pollution source wouldn’t be able to erode the luminous barrier between her island and the surrounding sea.
That alone was worth the effort, regardless of any other outcomes.
She didn’t want any uncontrollable mishaps befalling her island.
And she definitely didn’t want her island to be absorbed by the Sea Survival System.
Although the Sea Survival System didn’t seem to have any directly affiliated islands, who could say for sure that it didn’t?
After all, she had only ever seen what the system wanted everyone to see.
She had grown stronger and was living well thanks to the system, but Faye Yardley had never lost her sense of crisis. She didn’t dare let her guard down for a moment.
