Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts

Chapter 468: How About a New Place?

Chapter 468 -466: How About a New Place?

It was unreasonable, but if she wanted to get back to her island, she had to spend the money.

Seeing her island again, Faye Yardley stepped onto the dock and took out the Teleportation Disc. She wanted to establish a link between her island and her raft, but the system prompted that it was not allowed.

“Why not? If it can only connect one place to another… but I clearly remember the shop in Lumina could establish a teleportation link with my raft. Why can’t I do it with my own island?”

No matter how Faye Yardley protested or questioned it, the system simply pretended not to hear, ignoring her completely.

‘Fine, fine. You’re so aloof, you’re the boss.’

Faye Yardley understood the principle of having to bow to circumstances.

“If it’s not allowed, it’s not allowed!”

As for linking her island to her brother’s guild headquarters or the island over there, Faye Yardley had considered it, but she quickly dismissed the idea.

‘There’s no need to introduce so many uncertain factors to my island.’

Stowing the Teleportation Disc in her backpack, Faye Yardley jumped directly from the dock into the sea. She planned to check on Jennifer, who was living at the base of the island.

When she reached the bottom of the island, she saw a cave dwelling shimmering with a faint light. Seeing Jennifer’s home, a rare trace of embarrassment crossed Faye Yardley’s mind.

As she neared the cave entrance, she discovered a message left for her. It said that Jennifer was in seclusion and not to wake her unless it was an absolute emergency.

So, Faye Yardley didn’t disturb her. Knowing she was okay was enough. She turned and swam toward the place where she had previously found the treasure chest.

When she arrived, the isolation barrier was still there, but Faye Yardley felt that it had faded a lot, and a faint worry grew in her heart.

‘After all, if the storms from the sea survival game reach my island, I don’t know if the people on it can withstand them.’

‘The climate at sea is just too volatile and extreme. If it affects the island, never mind what would happen to the people; the vegetation alone would be severely impacted. It might even all die off.’

‘Without enough food, neither people nor animals would be able to survive.’

In the pitch-black water on the other side, Faye Yardley’s sharp gaze caught sight of some roots flashing with tiny electric arcs.

‘Could those all be the roots of the Thunder Tree?’

‘If they are, that would be great. In the legends of Veridia, lightning can always purify all sorts of nefarious forces. It would be excellent if they could cleanse all the bad things in the Black Sea Water on the other side.’

Faye Yardley stood before the isolation barrier, neither getting too close nor leaving.

Then, to her astonishment, the isolation barrier began to be gradually covered by the arcing roots.

Although she didn’t know if the Thunder Tree could hear her, Faye Yardley still spoke up, “Thunder Tree, don’t destroy this isolation light barrier.”

The roots immediately retracted, no longer trying to root themselves into the light barrier.

However, because the roots were now concentrated in one area, she could see the situation on the other side a bit more clearly.

The seawater no longer seemed pitch-black. It looked like the Thunder Tree really did have a purifying function.

She took out the satchel made from a Thunder Arc Flower from her backpack. Suddenly, the Thunder Arc Flower detached itself from the satchel, the whole blossom pressing against the isolation light barrier. Then, to Faye Yardley’s surprise, the flower passed through the barrier and into the wall of roots, and the Thunder Arc Flower’s own white light grew even more brilliant.

Taking out a Water-Repelling Pearl to envelop herself, she decisively called Zachary Pierce.

‘Thankfully, All World Communication friends aren’t restricted by location.’

“Yardley, you… where are you? The deep sea?”

Faye Yardley nodded. “Mhm. Mr. Pierce, can you spare a few more of those Thunder Arc Flowers for me?”

Zachary Pierce didn’t hesitate before nodding. “I can give you two more, but that’s it. This Thunder Arc Tree requires a lot of energy to bloom. So far, it has only produced four flowers. One has already been sent to the lab for research.”

“Thank you. This Thunder Arc Flower has the ability to ward off evil. I’m in the deep sea around my island. Look, beyond this isolation light barrier is the lightning-storm boundary of the survival game. I also planted a Magic Seed, but the Thunder Tree that grew hasn’t flowered or borne fruit, though it does have the ability to purify Black Sea Water. See, on the other side is a wall formed by its roots.”

‘There’s no need to mention that I ate the Thunder Fruit myself. The Thunder Tree only produced that single fruit, and I ate it. Even if I said it could bear fruit now, I wouldn’t be able to produce any.’

The Gift containing two Thunder Arc Flowers had already been sent over. After accepting it, she didn’t hang up. The moment she took out the flowers, they once again performed their “Wall-penetrating Technique.”

Zachary Pierce was also very surprised. “The flowers passed through without affecting that light barrier?”

“I don’t know. At least, I can’t see any effect with my own eyes.”

“Then do you think the isolation light barrier is getting thinner?”

Faye Yardley shook her head again. “I can’t tell any change in the short term, but it’s thinner than when I first found this place. Maybe the sea survival game is using this method to swallow up other sea regions. If the Black Sea Water here is purified by the Thunder Tree, I wonder if this light barrier will return to its original state. But the big white flowers should be providing a purification boost.”

“It’s good as long as it helps.” Zachary Pierce was silent for a moment before saying, “I have a half-baked idea. What if you go back to the survival boundary, and I bring the Thunder Arc Tree to your raft and plant it there as well? Do you think that would significantly increase the purification of that stretch of sea?”

Faye Yardley was stunned. ‘What a crazy idea… but it’s so tempting.’

“Okay, hearing you say that, Mr. Pierce, makes me want to try it too. They share the same origin, so they probably won’t start fighting each other, right?”

“Then let me know when you’re heading back.”

“Tomorrow at dawn. I just spent a fortune on travel to get back here. I have to at least go ashore and take a look around before I leave again.”

“Okay, I’ll wait for your message.”

Faye Yardley stared for a long while, and after confirming that the isolation light barrier hadn’t suffered any adverse effects from the big white flowers passing through, she heaved a huge sigh of relief.

“Thunder Tree, I’m leaving for now. I’ll come find you tomorrow.”

With that, she began to swim upward.

She caught a few fish along the way, and by the time she got to the top, she had also grabbed several large crabs and slipper lobsters. Once she broke the surface, she raced toward the island.

Bella came galloping toward her. As the horse drew near, Faye Yardley vaulted onto her back and headed for the hidden side of the island.

Arriving at her residence in the valley, she found that the Seven-Colored Flower had grown taller again. Its fragrance was even stronger now; she couldn’t get too close, or the scent would make her dizzy.

Then Faye Yardley felt she had done something foolish. ‘A flower with such an overpowering fragrance isn’t suitable for planting in the courtyard of a residence at all. Otherwise, what if I spend my days in a drowsy stupor from the scent?’

“Seven-Colored Tree, how about I move you to the garden plot I set aside in the backyard?”

The Seven-Colored Tree’s small, star-shaped white flowers rustled despite the lack of wind. What a decisive rejection.

“Alright, alright. If you don’t want to move now, then don’t. I’m not living here yet anyway. But let’s get this straight: if I come back to live here one day and you still want to stay put, you’ll have to tone down the fragrance.”
