Chapter 461: Entering a New Dungeon
Chapter 461 -459: Entering a New Dungeon
I have to say, Argus was a great guy. Meat so rich in energy was a rare find.
Everyone was happy with the dinner, a pleasant warmth spreading through their bodies.
Faye Yardley even received a system notification: [Agility +1].
She checked her Attributes. Her agility had reached 69, and with the bonuses from the leaderboard and her ring, it was all the way up to 75.
It had leaped to become her highest of the four Attributes.
‘I wish there were a few more walking treasure troves like him.’
‘Where could I go to quickly test out my combat strength?’
Faye Yardley’s thoughts naturally turned to Dungeons.
She had plenty of Dungeon Invitation Cards, including two for Dungeon 1 alone.
As long as it was just zombies and she didn’t run into any weird people, Faye felt that killing zombies was actually a pretty good way to go.
Glancing at the sky outside, Faye Yardley decided not to enter a Dungeon right away.
Taking a rare moment to relax, she sat on the swing chair, holding a picture book she had gotten from a loot box. The book’s name was *The Picture Book You Want*. She had only to think of Clementine, and its contents had changed to the story of Clementine.
‘So that’s how items from loot boxes could be used.’
‘A shame I didn’t find out sooner.’
Then again, it wasn’t too late to know now.
After finishing the story of Clementine, Faye Yardley was truly speechless. ‘Who the hell wrote this? Its values are so messed up.’ The Prince had fallen for Clementine’s beauty, but the moment she lost her looks and grew old, he lost all interest.
Besides, Clementine wasn’t exactly a good person herself.
‘It’s just so exasperating.’
If she had known from the start what the story was like, Faye couldn’t guarantee she would have completed it any better than before. She might have even violated the rules directly, because she could feel her hands getting itchy.
After finishing the story, Faye wanted to read the story of the Mermaid, but the system prompted that she would have to wait until the next day to change it.
“Tsk. So it’s one little bedtime story a day.”
Faye Yardley put the picture book away and reached for the Summer Language Dictionary. She flipped through a couple of pages before losing interest. ‘It’s not like I’m illiterate, after all. Besides, out here on the vast ocean, what good is a high-class education?’
‘Am I going to debate the strange fish in the sea to death?’
BRRRING~
“Bro, was that pan-fried meat I sent you especially good?”
Ethan Yardley laughed. “It was! Super fragrant, super delicious. If you have more, send some over.”
“I do. I’ll have Willow make you some meat broth. Did you call just for a bite to eat?”
“Of course not. I have something good for you. Quick, accept the Gift.”
Faye Yardley accepted the Gift and saw it was a small, red handgun. On closer inspection, she saw the casing was interwoven with a unique pattern of deep and light red hues.
[Soul Nailing Gun: With me, what’s there to fear from ghosts!]
She toyed with it for a moment before asking, “Bro, what kind of bullets does it take?”
“It doesn’t use bullets. It’s a consumable, apparently. Once the red patterns on the body have completely faded, it becomes useless.”
Faye Yardley picked it up and looked it over again. “I don’t think it’s the kind of consumable you just throw away when it’s used up,” she said. “Do you have any other guns like this? An empty one. Give it to me.”
The reason she asked was that Faye remembered she had a bottle of Deep Crimson Tree Sap. It looked a lot like the red coating on the gun and even had a pleasant smell.
Ethan Yardley didn’t say much more. He simply sent another Gift, which contained a light-red handgun.
“Bro, if I break this gun trying to fix it…”
“Then it’s broken. It’s not a big deal. I’ve got other things to take care of, so I’m hanging up.”
“Okay, bye.”
After hanging up, Faye took out the tree sap and a syringe. She drew a full tube and injected it into the light-red gun. As the Deep Crimson Tree Sap entered it, the gun’s body seemed to come to life, its color gradually deepening from a pale red.
‘Ha, it actually worked!’
Unfortunately, she didn’t have much of the sap left. She’d previously thought it was useless and had given most of it to Master Veridian.
Still, there was nothing to regret. She had received plenty of help and all sorts of strange talismans from Master Veridian in return.
All items only revealed their greatest effects when paired with the right thing, but who could ever know what the most compatible item was?
Now that she had this weapon, however, Faye couldn’t help but want to go check out the other Dungeons she hadn’t been to yet.
She took out all her Dungeon Invitation Cards. She currently had cards for Dungeons 1, 2, 4, 5, and 7. She still hadn’t been to Dungeons 4 and 7.
The card for Dungeon 4 showed a beach, with one half bright and sunny and the other a sinking ocean with many hands reaching out for help. The card for Dungeon 7 showed a large mansion with a woman hanging from the eaves.
‘In any case, neither looked very auspicious.’
She put the Invitation Cards back in her private storage. It was nighttime, so she decided not to go.
Because these were all solo Dungeons, Lucy White had been pouting ever since she found out that Faye wanted to enter one by herself and couldn’t bring anyone along.
Cole Kensington couldn’t help but ask, “Sister, I can merge into your shadow and go with you.”
Faye Yardley turned to look at him, then smiled and shook her head in refusal. “There’s no need.”
“Sister, you had so many cards just now. Could you give me one to try by myself?” Lucy White suddenly asked.
The question caught Faye off guard. After all, just like Cole Kensington, Lucy White wasn’t bound to a system. ‘In that case, can they still use an Invitation Card?’
“Then you can try first thing tomorrow morning. It’s late now, not a good time to enter a Dungeon.”
“Okay, I’ll do as you say, Sister.”
The night passed in a flash, giving way to the light of the next day.
Lucy White was waiting in the living room first thing in the morning. The moment she saw Faye Yardley come downstairs, she ran up to her excitedly. “Sister, can I try now?”
“You didn’t stay up all night waiting, did you?”
Lucy White laughed. “Not really. I did nap for about two hours.”
Faye thought for a moment, then took out a Dungeon 1 Invitation Card and gave it to her.
Lucy White took it, nervous and excited. She activated it, and a white light immediately enveloped her. The next second, both Lucy White and the Dungeon Invitation Card had vanished.
Faye blinked in disbelief. ‘It actually worked?!’
“Sister, did Lucy White really enter a Dungeon by herself?”
Faye nodded at Willow. “Yeah. I didn’t expect it to actually be possible. I thought it most likely wouldn’t work and figured letting her try would get her to drop the idea. Now… I just don’t know if she packed enough things in her Storage Ring.”
“Don’t worry, Sister. She spent all of last night preparing to enter a Dungeon.”
“That’s good.”
Before long, Cole Kensington came over as well.
And so, the last Dungeon 1 Invitation Card was used on him.
With both of them gone to Dungeon 1, Faye naturally had to choose from her remaining options.
Without hesitating much longer, Faye took out the Dungeon 7 Invitation Card, checked her backpack one more time, and activated it after finishing breakfast.
The scene before her eyes changed in an instant.
Before her stood a pair of pitch-black double doors. A giant red “Double Happiness” character was pasted on each one.
