Chapter 443 - 441: Warning, Warning! Frost Beast Behemoth
Chapter 443: Chapter 441: Warning, Warning! Frost Beast Behemoth
The hostility and determination in her eyes made Logan Langdon decide in an instant. "Since Gorgeous Yardley doesn’t want to get involved, I won’t insist."
But that brief delay meant it was already too late to leave.
The giant had revealed its full form, and as it stood, it towered over even a tsunami wave.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! WARNING! WARNING! A FROST BEAST BEHEMOTH HAS APPEARED IN THE FRIGID WORLD. ALL VALUED GUESTS, PLEASE EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY! TELEPORTATION IS CURRENTLY DISABLED WITHIN A 30-KILOMETER RADIUS OF THE FROST BEAST BEHEMOTH. ALL OTHER GUESTS, PLEASE RETURN TO NIGHTFALL CITADEL AT ONCE! ALL TELEPORTATION FUNCTIONS WILL BE SHUT DOWN IN 5 MINUTES!
The Smoke Person’s distinctive voice echoed throughout The Frigid World.
The message replayed on a loop, triggered by the giant’s appearance.
Thirty kilometers?!
Fuck!
Faye Yardley ignored the other frenzied Frost Beasts, and she certainly didn’t care what the giant was thinking. She pulled out three Clementines, stuffed one into each of their mouths, and they quickly chewed and swallowed them down—peel and all.
[Acquired temporary Ice Ability.]
She slapped her forehead. ’How stupid of me.’ She still had the Void Experience Card.
It was best saved for a critical moment, but while no one was looking, she shoved a card into Cole Kensington’s and Lucy White’s hands. "If you get a chance before the teleportation shuts down, get outside the thirty-kilometer radius. Don’t worry about me, and I won’t worry about you. Just run if you see an opening."
Just then, the giant’s fist came smashing down toward them with earth-shattering force. The fist hadn’t even landed, but the powerful winds it generated had already blasted them.
Faye Yardley activated her temporary Ice Ability, allowing her to skate freely across the ice. She was surprised to find that with the Ice Ability, her body could also turn to ice, letting her travel unimpeded through the frozen layers.
’So it turns out all Frost Beasts are natural wielders of the Ice Ability.’
She wasn’t even as big as the Frost Beast Behemoth’s little toe. Activating her Ice Ability, she encased herself in ice, reversed course, and charged straight for the giant, sticking herself to its massive foot.
The impact from the enormous fist sent Cole Kensington tumbling even further away. He wanted to protect Faye Yardley—after all, that was his mission—but he couldn’t disobey her, and he certainly couldn’t allow himself to become a liability. As he retreated, he glanced toward the giant and quickly made his decision.
When the fist smashed down, Lucy White knew she’d never outrun it on her short legs. With a flick of her whip, she latched onto a tall woman’s leg and used the force of the woman’s struggle to escape as a launch, flinging herself out of the direct impact zone.
"What the fuck, are you insane?! Get off me!"
Lucy White just grinned. "It’s a win-win situation, miss~"
Faye Yardley traveled further and further up the Frost Beast Behemoth’s body. Perhaps because she was using an Ice Ability, it paid no attention to the little flea scurrying all over it.
In fact, it was the attacks from Logan Langdon’s group on the behemoth that kept nearly hitting her.
As she neared the behemoth’s heart, Faye Yardley discovered it was shaped like a book. The book was closed, and while its cover was blank, ice-blue ripples occasionally flowed across its surface.
’No doubt about it,’ she thought. ’This is what Logan Langdon and his crew are after.’
She could feel the behemoth’s fury at being attacked. Looking down below, Faye Yardley gave a sly smirk, then used her superpower to smoothly squeeze her way inside the Frost Beast Behemoth’s body.
Watching her disappear into the behemoth’s heart, Logan Langdon was filled with rage. ’His side was drawing all the fire, and for what? Just to hand her the prize on a silver platter?!’
"Faye Yardley!"
With a furious slash of his sword, Logan Langdon launched himself onto the behemoth’s arm.
The behemoth clapped its arms together, causing Logan Langdon no small amount of trouble and nearly crushing him flat.
By this point, Faye Yardley had already slipped inside the book-shaped heart.
’What a strange heart.’ There was no blood at all, but it did have a network of veins—ice-blue, flowing lines that flickered in and out of existence.
Faye Yardley checked the timer on her temporary ability and saw she only had half an hour left. A flicker of anxiety went through her.
She decided to ignore the chaos outside and follow the flowing lines.
As she went, she realized these patterns felt very similar to the ones she had perceived back in the pitch-black Demonic Aura Space.
She didn’t try to force the book open. Instead, she followed the patterns on the page, flowing smoothly along them to the next.
Immersed in the network of flowing lines, Faye Yardley found her speed increasing. As for what was happening outside?
She had completely forgotten about it.
’Who cares what they’re doing? Right now, I wish I could grow a dozen more pairs of eyes. There’s just too much to take in, I can’t see it all!’
All she could do was watch, absorbing as much as she could as if imprinting it directly onto her brain. There was no time for deep understanding, and she was completely unable to stop.
Never mind what was happening outside; her own time was running out.
Even as she followed the lines, Faye Yardley felt a violent impact from outside that nearly knocked her right out of the network of veins.
"Faye Yardley, I’m here to save you! Come on out!"
Hearing that voice penetrate into the behemoth’s body, Faye could only roll her eyes before refocusing completely on the lines.
’I don’t have the power to take this whole book with me, so I’ll just have to memorize as much as I can. Whatever I can remember will be mine to keep.’
Time was running out. Not only was her temporary ability about to expire, but the attacks from the outside were also growing noticeably stronger.
Just as she was about to slip off the final page, Faye Yardley decisively used the Void Experience Card, and her entire being dissolved into nothingness.
The sensation was incredible.
She existed, yet at the same time, she didn’t seem to exist at all.
Following other channels within the Frost Beast Behemoth’s body, she arrived at its forehead. There, inside its mind, was a massive, transparent Ice Crystal.
She pounced toward the giant Ice Crystal like a gust of wind, laying herself flat against it. Her void state rendered her completely weightless.
Faye felt herself lying on top of it, and then she opened her mouth and took a bite out of the Ice Crystal.
AWOOOO!
A colossal roar of extreme agony erupted from the Frost Beast Behemoth’s mouth.
She had thought it would be impossible to bite, but the Ice Crystal in its mind was like jelly. It broke apart with a single bite and melted the moment it entered her mouth.
With just that one mouthful, Faye felt as if the energy was about to make her body explode.
That being the case, she decided not to be greedy. Faye Yardley immediately left the Frost Beast Behemoth’s mind, exited its body, dodged all the attacks, and ascended into the sky to get away.
As for the enraged behemoth and all the people hoping to get something out of it, Faye Yardley had no intention of getting involved with any of them.
’I already got what I came for,’ she thought. ’Of course it’s time to make a run for it.’
Down below, colorful lights flashed amid the sounds of explosions. ’Stay away, the farther the better,’ she thought. She had no desire to get caught in the crossfire.
While Faye Yardley was making her getaway in her void state, Logan Langdon was still relentlessly attacking the behemoth’s heart.
The enraged behemoth, for its part, wasn’t just trying to swat Logan Langdon off its body.
"Faye Yardley, get out here!"
