Cole Kensington was having a very hard time. He had originally wanted to follow Mrs. Sheldon and Paul out of the hospital, but after the security was upgraded, so were the disinfection procedures.
Everyone entering or exiting had to be sprayed with disinfectant from head to toe. It was a veritable waterfall of disinfectant. Passing through that, Cole Kensington felt he would definitely be forced to reveal himself.
So, he could only choose to stay inside the hospital.
And he couldn’t even stay outdoors, because the pouring rain outside would also harm him.
Even though his abilities had improved, he couldn’t possibly maintain his Shadow Melt state twenty-four hours a day.
He needed to emerge from the shadows to recover a bit.
He hid here and there, moving from the hospital gatehouse to the patient wards, then floor by floor, stopping in any place he could get a moment’s rest, like the hospital offices.
Finally, he returned to the sofa area in the hospital lobby, hiding under a couch and even holding his breath. The main thing was that he couldn’t kill anyone here. Otherwise, the security and disinfection levels in the hospital would be raised yet again, and he would be truly screwed.

An ice-blue pistol appeared in Faye Yardley’s hand. ’This is already our second Dungeon. Shouldn’t I test it out this time?’
’Maybe I should find some unlucky soul to try it on before we get teleported away?’
"Yardley, what are you thinking about? Regular bullets shouldn’t have any effect on Evolved Zombies anymore, right?"
Faye Yardley gave Zachary Pierce a smile. "It’s been modified. I’ve been wanting to test its power, but I haven’t had the chance."
"Perhaps you can wait until the time is up. When we can choose to go back at any moment, you can go pick off a few Evolved Zombies to test it."
"Right? I was thinking the same thing. But then again, it’s not like they’ve done anything wrong here..."
Zachary Pierce said directly, "You can give me the gun. I’ll do it."
Faye Yardley smiled, indicating that while she might be a little sentimental, when push came to shove, she could handle it herself.
"This rain has been falling all day," Finn Ford said, inching closer to the window before pulling back and continuing in a low voice, "It seems to be letting up."
At 8 p.m. sharp, the rain stopped abruptly.
Moonlight once again blanketed the entire city of Rhovan.
Before long, the various sounds they had heard the previous night began to drift in from outside, one after another, reaching the ears of the four.
Faye Yardley really wanted to roll her eyes. ’Seriously? Why are Evolved Zombies so into group activities, and outdoors, no less?’
’Do they skip their meals during the day just so they can go out hunting at night?’
BANG! BANG! BANG! The door was being violently slammed from the outside.
Soon, the door was broken open, and a staggering figure rushed directly toward the window. It didn’t even try to open it, simply ramming it like a wild bull, shattering the glass and leaping out.
From bursting through the door to crashing through the window, it didn’t spare the four people in the room a single glance.
The moonlight was bright, streaming in through the window, making the situation inside the room quite clear.
Wearing her hood, Faye Yardley curiously glanced outside. ’Damn, it just jumped down to serve itself up as a meal.’ It was now being torn apart and devoured by other Evolved Zombies with loud CRUNCHING and SNAPPING sounds.
’Did it really have such a death wish?’
More footsteps approached from outside the door. Faye Yardley drew her pistol, and the moment the zombie stepped through the doorway, it was shot in the head.
Its eyes, which had been a mix of white and gray, turned a solid grayish-black.
It charged mindlessly toward Faye Yardley who was standing by the window. She simply sidestepped, and the zombie followed in the footsteps of the previous one.
The zombies below, who were in the middle of their meal, couldn’t help but look up expectantly, hoping more would fall.
"Go," Zachary Pierce commanded again, and the four quickly left the room.
Although the pistol was silenced, the bullet was still in the zombie’s head. And that bullet, as expected from a modified one, was very different.
Putting the pistol back into her backpack, Faye Yardley couldn’t quite hide the smile on her face. ’Amazing. It’s truly a one-shot soul-killer, on par with the Master’s Soul Destruction Talisman.’
’It’s just the raw materials...’
’Tsk, that Logan Langdon guy isn’t easy to deal with. And with all this mining he’s doing, what’s he really up to? Is he planning something nasty?’
Walking outside under the moonlight was even less comfortable than walking in the downpour.
It felt like the longer one stayed in the moonlight, the more irritable one became.
After turning through several alleys and evading the Evolved Zombies that tried to swarm them, the four finally found another empty, unoccupied house.
Zachary Pierce took out a spray bottle. "Let’s spray a little more. The previous scent has almost completely faded."
No one objected, as long as it was just a little.
"So those bullets of yours can actually harm Evolved Zombies. Is there something special about them?"
Faye Yardley directly showed them the pistol and a bullet. Anyway, the system would give a detailed description once they had it in hand.
"Yardley, can you get us some of these?" Caleb Colby asked, reluctantly handing the pistol back.
Faye Yardley smiled and said, "This is the only one for now. It was hand-made in the lab. For specifics, I’ll have to ask the lab after we get back. What about the guns you guys brought out of Dungeons before? It would be much easier to modify those directly."
Caleb Colby immediately said excitedly, "We still have some! We’ll send them all to you when we get back. Please, you have to help us modify some."
"You can make a list of the raw materials needed for the modifications. We can do our best to provide them," Zachary Pierce added.
It was always good to be prepared with special guns and bullets like these.
"Actually, the most important raw material is the spider Egg Ore produced on Logan Langdon’s island."
There was no need to hide this. If possible, it would be more convenient for them to manufacture it on a small scale than for her to do it on her island.
The rest of the night was relatively peaceful. When the sun rose the next day, Cole Kensington still hadn’t returned. This was already the third full day since their arrival.
In other words, they just had to hang on for one more day, and then they could go back.
Faye Yardley looked at the sun outside and said, "Mr. Pierce, I want to go check out the outskirts of the city."
"We’ll go with you."
"No need. If I can’t win a fight, I know how to run and hide. Today is the third day, so I imagine we could get the message to return at any time. We don’t necessarily have to stick together. We can regroup when we’re back on the raft."
Zachary Pierce nodded. "Then be careful."
As he spoke, he took out a small bottle. "Here, these are Basic Antidote Pills. Do you have other medical supplies with you?"
Faye took the antidote pills and grunted in affirmation. "I have everything else I need. I’m off."
Not long after Faye Yardley left, the other three also departed in different directions.
Shortly after they left, Paul appeared with his men in the room where Faye Yardley had fired her gun.
