Chapter 354: The Serendipity Event Starts Just Like That
Chapter 354: Chapter 354: The Serendipity Event Starts Just Like That
「September 1st. A scorching hot day with calm seas.」
The Serendipity Event started on time at 8 a.m., and the leaderboards were updated as well.
Faye Yardley still held a firm grip on the top spot of both leaderboards.
Unlike Faye, who had retreated to her island early in the morning to handle some matters, Logan Langdon, Jay Jonas, and the others were already back on their rafts. They were all hoping to run into Master Gideon and his disciples.
’A master weaponsmith! You can never have too many good weapons.’
Ethan Yardley was discovering that his Constitution was becoming truly extraordinary.
The current scorching temperature felt just right to him.
He stood on his raft, watching the air around him shimmer and distort from the intense heat. ’Maybe I should use this weather to train my abilities,’ he thought.
He wasn’t sure how to use it yet, but it was a good habit of the Yardley siblings to act as soon as an idea struck them. So, he had already started practicing his punches and kicks in an open area.
A small wooden boat appeared abruptly near the raft. Onboard was a white-haired old man, watching with a delighted expression as Ethan Yardley trained diligently.
In his eyes, Ethan was using the high temperature to temper his own body.
’If the world is a great furnace, then one’s own body is the ultimate Divine Weapon.’
’Relying on external items could never compare to the strength gained from tempering oneself.’
This had always been the old man’s philosophy, so running into someone whose ideas matched his own right after arriving filled him with anticipation for this trip.
Other people saw the old man too. After all, there were many other guild members’ rafts around Ethan’s.
Just as someone was about to call out to Ethan, the old man stopped them.
Many people were having encounters, just like Ethan. But chemistry and fate varied from person to person.
A look at the world channel showed that even when meeting the same person, different people had completely different results.
[Damn, I thought I hit the jackpot and ran into one of Master Gideon’s youngest disciples right at the start of the event. But the little brat just boarded my raft, ate and drank his fill, and then took off without so much as a ’thank you.’]
[Huh? No way. I ran into a beautiful woman with a really nice voice. She asked me to spar with her, but all I had was an axe. I couldn’t even block one of her moves. She called me a total noob, but then she tossed me an Intermediate Sharp Sword. I’m so grateful.]
[Boohoohoo... One of Master Gideon’s disciples sliced off a quarter of my raft with a single strike, threw the word ’trash’ at me, and disappeared. I seriously wanted to kill him. Missing_corner_of_raft.jpg]
[How many disciples does Master Gideon even have?]
[Some middle-aged guy challenged me to a fishing contest in this heat. It’s still morning, but I’m already on the verge of heatstroke.]
[Ahhh!!! This is a real serendipity! I got a Basic Inner Power Heart Method! Thank you for your generosity, Master Gideon!]
[Why are you all so lucky? I’m just staring out at the vast sea in this scorching heat and haven’t seen a single thing.]
[+1]
[Oh man, could that kid be the young disciple that person was talking about? He’s coming my way! Should I host him or not?]
[Bro, just host him as best you can. At least don’t piss them off, or your raft might be in for it.]
[That makes a lot of sense. I’ve already invited him onto my raft.]
The hustle and bustle outside was naturally irrelevant to Faye Yardley, who was constantly busy.
It was already evening by the time she returned to her raft from the newly built school.
"Willow, hurry and get something good to eat. I was so busy all day I forgot to have lunch."
"Come on, Faye, it’s all ready. By the way, Lucy White and Kingston went to the island. If you’re planning to leave, we’ll need Bella to go find them."
"Let them have their fun. We’ll leave tomorrow when our time here is up. We’re staying put for today."
Meow~
As Faye was eating, Blackwood jumped onto the dining table.
"Blackwood, you want some too?"
As she spoke, Faye took out a dried fish and tossed it to him.
Blackwood gulped it down in one bite, then looked back at Faye.
"No more, no more. Go have Willow make you some cat food."
Blackwood immediately gave her a look of utter disgust. ’Am I the kind of cat that eats cat food?’
After that, Faye just buried her head in her food and ignored Blackwood.
When she was almost full, she finally said to Blackwood, "If you’re bored, you can go play on the island for a while."
Unexpectedly, Blackwood shook his head, refusing.
Willow came in from outside and said, "Faye, are you done eating? Jennifer is here."
"Jennifer? Quick, invite her onto the raft."
Seeing Jennifer, Faye immediately thought of her teardrop pearls. They were so sparkly, even more captivating than real pearls.
"Jennifer, you’re awake! You sure slept for a long time."
"Hee hee~ Hello, Miss Yardley." Jennifer sniffed the air. "I think I smell dried fish."
Faye blurted out, "You want some?"
Jennifer nodded.
Blackwood immediately let out a furious ROWR, ROWR, glaring at her.
Faye patted Blackwood’s head and said, "Blackwood, Jennifer just wants to try a little. We have to be a generous kitty."
She then took out an empty plate, placed two pieces of dried fish on it, and gave another one to Blackwood to placate him.
Jennifer was a Merling, but there didn’t seem to be anything wrong with a Merling liking dried fish. After all, the Merfolk also enjoyed eating fish.
After eating the two pieces of dried fish, Jennifer smacked her lips. However, she didn’t ask for more. She thanked Willow for the seafood soup she was served and began to eat with great relish.
After dinner, Faye led her to the living room. She then had the System display an image on the television of the dark green, pearl-inlaid qipao that Laura Summers had made.
"Jennifer, do you think that dress is beautiful? Would you like it if the lower half was shaped like a fishtail?"
"It’s so pretty! I love it. Are the pearls on it my tears?"
"Yes. Would you like a beautiful dress like this?"
Jennifer nodded repeatedly. "Mhm, mhm, mhm, I want one."
A friendly smile appeared on Faye’s face. "Do you have any more of your teardrop pearls in stock? I’ve used up almost all the ones you gave me last time."
"I do. I’ll give you two more boxes."
And just like that, Jennifer produced two large boxes directly from her storage space and placed them on the coffee table.
Each box was the size of a Wooden Treasure Chest.
’Such huge boxes... I love it!’
Since Jennifer was being so generous, Faye asked directly, "What color dress would you like? I can have someone take your measurements and design two custom outfits for you?"
