Chapter 322: Island Occupation Order
Chapter 322: Chapter 322: Island Occupation Order
Although everyone basically knew this once the agreement began to circulate, Faye Yardley still made a point of bringing it up so her brother would pay close attention.
As her older brother, he was of course willing to believe his sister was a kind-hearted person.
But Faye Yardley needed to make it clear to him that she hadn’t survived in the World of Ocean Survival by being soft-hearted.
While she appeared harmless most of the time, there was no denying that when it was time to be ruthless, she never hesitated.
"Brother, entrusting your fate to another person requires immense resolve. For some, that resolve is more important than anything else. Without it, anyone who joins the island under your arrangement will have a different mindset than the others. That would, in turn, have a negative impact on those already living on the island.
Even though I’m your sister, since you want to place people on my island, I have to be responsible for those who are already there. I’m the Island Master, and I prefer my island to be stable, peaceful, united, and friendly."
She didn’t pull any punches with her last words.
This took Ethan Yardley by surprise, but after the initial shock, he felt a deep sense of pride. ’That’s my sister,’ he thought. ’She’s all grown up, a clear-headed and competent leader.’
"I understand everything you’ve said. Don’t worry, I’ll keep it in mind. Whatever decision they make in the end, I will respect it." Ethan Yardley sat up and looked at his sister, speaking earnestly.
Then, he said to Rainie Yardley, who was standing to the side, "Rainie, prepare some good food. Since my sister is here, she can join me for lunch."
After having lunch at her brother’s place, Faye Yardley returned to her raft. She went straight to the top of Goliath’s head, sat down cross-legged, and stared blankly at the monotonous ocean before her.
A sea breeze swept by, stirring the Exorcism Wind Chime and creating a series of crisp, tinkling sounds.
Some people might travel together for a short while on the path to the final destination, but in the end, everyone is alone.
Faye Yardley sat there alone for a long time, until the figure of Bella, galloping at full speed, appeared on the sea before her.
"Big Sis! Big Sis!"
Cole Kensington stood up on Bella’s back, waving his hands excitedly.
When he got closer, Faye Yardley learned that he had been riding Bella and had discovered a small island up ahead.
However, the island was currently in a sealed state, making it impossible to approach, let alone go ashore.
"How big is the island?"
"It’s nothing compared to your island, Big Sis. It’s probably about a quarter of the size of Conch Isle, maybe even a little smaller."
Faye Yardley nodded. After making a slight adjustment to the raft’s direction, she leaped down from Goliath’s head.
"That’s still not small. Let’s go, we’ll head over and take a look."
The two of them shared the mount, galloping across the sea in a single direction.
After about an hour of Bella sprinting at full speed, the sealed island Cole Kensington had mentioned finally appeared before them.
After getting closer, Faye Yardley dismounted and walked directly to the barrier, which resembled a transparent Energy Shield. She reached out and touched it.
[Unmanned island discovered. Participate in the island occupation? 1/5.]
"Five slots to compete for one island?"
Faye Yardley didn’t answer the question. Just as she was about to pull her hand back, a cold, hard object appeared in her palm. She picked it up and saw it was an [Island Occupation Order].
"Big Sis, what’s that?"
Faye Yardley said to Cole Kensington, "Try putting your hand on it. See if you can get an Occupation Order."
’It’s strange. I clearly didn’t agree to participate.’ But since it had practically been handed to her, Faye Yardley wasn’t about to refuse it.
’Isn’t my brother worrying about where to settle his teammates and their families?’
’Talk about perfect timing!’
Although Cole Kensington was confused, he did as he was told. An Occupation Order appeared in his hand as well.
"Big Sis, for you."
"How strange. Can just anyone get one?"
Faye Yardley couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. This time, when she placed her hand on the barrier, the prompt read: [Island Occupation Order 3/5.]
This meant that three Occupation Orders had been distributed, and she held two of them.
"Bella..."
Faye Yardley, who had been about to call for Bella to return to the raft and invite her brother, stopped herself. ’It’s an event period! I can just use the All World Communication to invite people!’
When Ethan Yardley and Tiberius appeared, they were quite surprised.
"You can invite people even when you’re not on your raft?"
Faye Yardley gave a simple explanation. "You can do it through the All World Communication interface during the event period, but not normally. Quick, you two, put your hands on this."
But as soon as Ethan Yardley got one, the display showed [5/5].
"Tiberius, why were you so slow?"
"My fault? I put my hand on it! My fingers even touched it, and then—SWOOSH—someone else reeled it in."
Speaking of which, Tiberius was speechless. "The fishing rods in this place are completely absurd."
There was no scientific basis for it, and no experience to fall back on.
"We have a three-in-five chance of getting this island. Brother, if you were the Island Master yourself, your people would probably be willing to entrust their lives to you."
As she spoke, Faye Yardley was about to give her two Orders to Ethan Yardley, but he shook his head.
"One person can probably only hold one. It’s useless even if you give them all to me."
"It’s not up to you to decide if it’s useless or not. We won’t know until we try."
Sure enough, when the three Orders were placed together, there was no reaction at all.
Faye Yardley definitely didn’t want another island. After thinking for a moment, she said, "Brother, how about I transfer my two Orders to Mr. Pierce and the others? You all can cooperate to compete for this island. In the end, it doesn’t matter which one of you wins."
"Wouldn’t it be better if you participated yourself and then just conceded to me in the end?"
"What if we can’t concede after joining? What if I end up winning? Setting aside whether others would be jealous or not, I can’t manage two islands by myself. One island has already drained all my resources."
Tiberius piped up from the side, "Why can’t you just give them to me? I’m standing right here. Seriously, are you two siblings always this pragmatic? You call me over when you need me, and then just ignore me when you don’t."
Turning her head to look at him, Faye Yardley flashed a brilliant smile. "Brother Tiberius, if it weren’t for you, how would my brother even have a chance to compete for the island? You’re his greatest asset."
"Just talk normally. Don’t call me that, it’s so cheesy I can’t stand it."
"Brother Tiberius is looking down on his little sister now. I’m so hurt. It was wrong of me to even invite you over. I guess I just wasted my feelings on the wrong person~"
"AHEM, AHEM... Ethan, get your sister under control."
Faye Yardley took a panoramic video of the island and sent it to Zachary Pierce and Eleanor Jonas.
In any case, she had decided that she could only participate as her brother’s assistant, and absolutely not as a contender herself.
The best way to solve a problem is to prevent it from ever appearing.
