Chapter 621: Chapter 468: 1 Year Slumber (Part 2)
"Grove...is there a way to sever the contract between him and me?"
"Little Master, if we sever it, you’ll die immediately!"
"Sever it. As long as he lives, I can die in peace."
The Tree of Life rose from the Divine-level space and appeared beside Flora Bloom. The sight left everyone from the Cross family and Villa No. 3 completely dumbfounded.
"The Tree of Life?" Ray Cross’s eyes narrowed. A thunderous power gathered in his hand as he reached for it. "If I can obtain this Tree of Life, the Cross family will face no more obstacles in the universe!"
A flash of golden light repelled Ray Cross’s superpower. A young girl’s voice rang out, "Old fool, don’t you dare touch me."
Ray Cross’s thick brows shot up. With a great shout, two thunderclouds erupted from his hands and shot toward the Tree of Life.
The Tree of Life didn’t dodge. Golden Life Force enveloped both it and Flora Bloom tightly. But her body was on the verge of death; no amount of Life Force could replenish it.
"SOB SOB SOB... If only I were bigger, Little Master, then you wouldn’t have to die!"
Flora Bloom watched as Lex Cross’s Soul Consciousness grew weaker and weaker. Her own Soul Consciousness trembled in response. "Quickly!"
The golden Life Force delved deep into Flora Bloom’s body, into the very depths of her Soul Consciousness. At the same time, it sent a wisp of Life Essence probing toward Lex Cross’s Soul Consciousness.
The connection point to Flora Bloom within Lex Cross’s Soul Consciousness grew fainter and fainter.
With the contract gone, Lex Cross’s Soul Consciousness grew stronger and stronger under the nourishment of the Life Essence. Flora Bloom, however, was like a withered tree, decaying prematurely. At last, she closed her eyes.
Her superpower’s Crystal Stone was gone. Her internal space was gone. Even her Divine Sense links to Vert, the giant golden cicada, and her other evolved creatures had vanished.
Polly, though small, was well-behaved. She had cried her eyes out in Rona Rook’s hands without making too much of a fuss. But the moment Ray Cross and Jim Cross brought her back to the Golden Crow’s side, she tried to rush toward the breathless Flora Bloom, only to be caught by Frost Cross.
She had watched helplessly as her father, Lex Cross, shattered and disappeared. Then she watched as her mother, Flora Bloom, gave her one last stiff, gentle smile before her life faded away.
"Daddy!"
"Mommy!"
"You don’t want Polly anymore?"
Frost Cross held Polly, feeling completely at a loss. She had never had children and was helpless in the face of this soft, adorable, crying little girl.
From within the Morhaven base, the little wolf suddenly threw back its head and let out a long howl, as if mourning the passing of its master. But it had a Soul Contract with Flora Bloom; even in death, the connection between them would not be broken.
Before she died, Flora Bloom had given it one last command: protect the Villa No. 3 district, protect her father, mother, younger brother, and Polly.
Flora Bloom was completely lifeless. The Golden Crow let out a mournful cry, lifted her onto its back, and leaped up, vanishing completely from everyone’s sight.
The battle had been expected, but its ending was anything but.
Before the remaining members of the Cross family could react, the light of the Tree of Life formed golden chains that gathered up the people from Villa No. 3 and pulled them back inside.
At the same time, the entire Morhaven villa district was sealed off by the Tree of Life’s golden light. Everyone within the Morhaven base fell into a strange, deep sleep.
Outside the Morhaven base, the wild forests began to grow at an incredible speed. Overnight, all the trees shot up to towering heights, and a mountain range even appeared within the woods. On the cliff face of one of these mountains rested a giant nest.
Inside it, one large and two small gyrfalcons were prostrate, having also fallen into a deep slumber.
The only things in all of Morhaven that remained unchanged and awake were the two iron-eaters, one large and one small. A bamboo forest suddenly sprouted around Villa No. 1, and the two iron-eaters moved their den into the new woods.
「At the same time」
The greatest change in Morhaven was the sudden appearance of a river that materialized out of thin air, flowing through the entire City of Morhaven. The river was wide and crystal clear, and it eventually flowed out into the sea.
The river’s source was in the newly formed mountain range. There, in a valley between the peaks, a small farmhouse was enveloped in a golden glow.
Outside the farmhouse stood the now-towering Tree of Life.
Black ants appeared in the real world along with the entire Divine-level space, but they quickly vanished.
All the personnel from the various major families outside Morhaven had been wiped out. Only the woman in black transformed into Death Energy and escaped.
But everyone present had been focused on Lex Cross and Flora Bloom; no one had noticed her. She exhausted countless amounts of Death Energy until she could flee no further. Finally, she collapsed onto the ground and began to laugh maniacally.
"This time, I, Rona Rook, have truly lost! The Divine-level Space Fragments have all fallen into the Cross family’s hands now. It seems surpassing them in the future will be next to impossible!"
