After speaking, Lex Cross walked toward Caleb Bloom and his wife, leading everyone back into the residential villa area.
In the courtyard, Caleb Bloom and Jade asked anxiously, "Young Thorne, where’s Flora? Why didn’t she come back with you?"
Before returning, Lex Cross had already determined from the energy signature at the spot where Flora Bloom vanished that she was alright. The Life Essence Qi was so dense it could be felt even from the outside, giving a hint of the scene within her space.
"Dad, Mom, don’t worry. Flora is fine. She’s in her space and ran into a bit of trouble, but she’ll be out soon."
"Trouble?"
"What happened to Flora?"
The couple didn’t relax just because their daughter was in her space. To them, any trouble meant danger.
"It’s actually a good thing. Don’t worry. Flora was pulled back into her space because she was planting the Tree of Life inside it. I believe the Life Essence Qi released when the Tree of Life took root and sprouted is what’s confining her. We should let her explain the details herself when she gets out. I just don’t know how long that will take."
The Cross family’s records mention the Tree of Life. For a period after its seed sprouts, it forms a massive isolation zone filled with Life Essence Qi.
Considering the circumstances of Flora’s disappearance, it had to be related to the Tree of Life.
He just didn’t know the specifics of the situation inside. He had returned to the base for two reasons: first, to make arrangements for the family members who had arrived, and second, to clarify the situation with his daughter, Polly, to the rest of the family.
He also needed to arrange the defenses for the Morhaven base. The forces of the Ancient Universe had arrived with aggressive momentum, putting everyone on Earth on edge. They had to be prepared.
Meanwhile, outside Earth’s protective shield, major powers from the Cloud Universe Sector, the Star Universe Sector, and the Source Universe Sector had also arrived. They found the breach in the shield created by Graham Cross and his group and began pouring into Earth.
The various energies from space began to merge with Earth’s Spiritual Energy. Although cosmic radiation also flowed in, for those with superpowers, the benefits outweighed the drawbacks.
A host of factions had arrived: the Thunder Snow Clan and the Fire Tribe from the Ancient Universe; the Vaughn family from the Cloud Universe Sector; the Acker and Joyce families from the Star Universe Sector; and the Seymour family from the Source Universe. There was also a mysterious organization with influence spread throughout the Star Nations. After a brief meeting, they all began to disperse, seeking to establish their own territories.
Archie, of course, was not idle. The King’s mission was to wage war on humanity. But now, with the major powers from the Ancient Universe arriving, recklessly starting a war could escalate the conflict between his own forces and the Star Nations.
Plus, because of his connection to Flora, a war was unlikely to erupt anytime soon. In fact, he was now more inclined to sow discord among the various families and factions, to stir up their internal conflicts.
He gazed at the empty spot where Flora had vanished and murmured, as if to himself, unsure if she could hear, "My dear, I’ve sacrificed so much for you. You’d better remember to repay me."
And so, Flora, trapped in the farmhouse courtyard of her pocket dimension, heard Archie’s cryptic words from the outside, followed immediately by a piercing shriek.
She was certain the sound came from Archie. Within the shriek, she sensed an intent—a summons. ’Is that guy taking advantage of me being trapped to gather a zombie horde and attack the humans on Earth?’
She panicked! But panicking was useless. She couldn’t get out.
She remembered what Lex Cross had said from outside her space before he left. He told her to focus on integrating the life force of the Tree of Life, and that he would be right back.
But so much time had passed. It had been so long that even that jerk Archie had shrieked and left ages ago, yet Lex still hadn’t returned. ’Though I don’t know what good it would do for him to come back here anyway. I’m stuck either way.’
It would take Lex Cross, riding Shadow, half an hour at most to get here from Morhaven. Flora waited and waited inside her dimension. She had no idea if it was nightfall in the outside world; her space remained perpetually bright, with no distinction between day and night.
’I’ve wondered before,’ she thought, ’if I collect all the Crystal Stone fragments for this Divine-level space, what will happen to it? Will it become a world with its own day and night cycle?’
’But on second thought, that’s all too fantastical. There’s no sun or moon in here, so how could there be a day and night?’
The Life Essence Qi in the farmhouse courtyard finally began to show a change under their combined absorption. But as they absorbed it, the Tree of Life seedling was still desperately releasing Life Qi. Even though the release rate was slower than their absorption rate, how long would she have to keep this up before she could get out?
