Chapter 521 - 434: Death is the Starting Point

Chapter 521: Chapter 434: Death is the Starting Point

Flora Bloom woke up around noon, aching all over, but Lex Cross was still nowhere to be seen. She got out of bed, went downstairs for breakfast, and called out for The Crown Prince and Li Mao. There was no answer.

The two of them, who always stayed behind at the base to protect her, were also missing.

Instead, it was Yue Mao who suddenly appeared. "Boss Flora, what are you doing?"

"Oh? The Crown Prince and Li Mao aren’t here today?"

A flicker of unnatural worry crossed Yue Mao’s face. "They went out on a mission with Captain Cross today. I heard Old Lynch and your brother went along, too."

Flora Bloom was alarmed. "They went to a zombie gathering site?"

Yue Mao nodded, but seeing that Flora Bloom’s expression wasn’t good, he handed over the item in his hands. "Captain Cross came back this morning and asked me to give you these Middle-Level Crystal Cores."

Flora Bloom took the heavy bag of Crystal Cores. Opening it, she saw about a hundred Middle-Level Crystal Cores, each one brimming with potent energy.

’If I absorb all of these, I can definitely break through the peak of High-level Superpower. Then, once I absorb the green, plant-elemental Crystal Stone in my pocket dimension and upgrade it again, I can reach the Nebula Level.’

’The Nebula Level... that meant she could survive in the cosmos even if the Earth was shattered.’

It wasn’t until she returned to her pocket dimension, absorbed the Crystal Cores, and used the Crystal Stone to break through the High-level and reach the Nebula Level, that she truly felt it: with great power comes great responsibility.

In all of Morhaven, aside from Lex Cross and his twelve companions, everyone else was still hovering between the Middle and High Levels of superpower users. Far from feeling like she was standing head and shoulders above the rest, she felt the weight of responsibility on her shoulders grow even heavier.

Lex Cross had prepared everything for her, wanting to shield her from any danger. But she couldn’t just sit back at the base and wait to die.

The little pets in her pocket dimension were now all self-sufficient. They acquired the energy needed for their own upgrades and evolutions, so she no longer had to worry about them.

Aside from Golden Crow, the little wolf, and the behemoth Bloodthirsty Giant Crocodile—none of whom could use Crystal Cores—the other little ones would venture into nearby cities to gather Crystal Cores for their own upgrades.

Everyone was striving to improve themselves for their own convictions, and she couldn’t fall behind either. She was relieved to have Tianna Bloom leading the Water Ability Users back at the base.

She summoned the Golden Crow. Her destination: the nine zombie gathering sites. Lex Cross and his team were most likely making a move on the High-level zombies in the smallest of those sites today.

She couldn’t help much on the ground, but she could serve as their lookout from the sky.

And so, Flora Bloom took Polly with her, mounted the Golden Crow, and set off.

When she arrived in the sky above the gathering site she had first discovered, Flora Bloom realized things weren’t so simple.

The outskirts of this area—the smallest of the nine zombie gathering sites—were eerily quiet.

From high above, Flora Bloom could sense what was happening in the cave deep within the gathering site. She detected the explosive energy flares of three High-level zombie leaders clashing with the superpower signatures of Lex Cross and his twelve companions. But besides that, she also felt a familiar current of Death Energy moving within the cave.

Sherman Lynch was hovering in mid-air, mounted on Lex Cross’s warhorse, Shadow. He held a communicator, speaking into it intermittently. As Flora Bloom drew closer, she could hear him, but the words were tactical jargon she didn’t understand.

Sherman Lynch was surprised to see Flora Bloom approaching on the Golden Crow.

"Flora, what are you doing here?"

"I was worried about you, so I came to check. Why didn’t you notify the other bases and plan this together?"

Whatever method Lex Cross had used to tame Shadow, it worked—the warhorse didn’t even bristle upon seeing the Golden Crow. Instead, it gave a soft snort, as if to greet Flora Bloom.

"What’s the situation inside?"

Sherman Lynch looked composed. "Originally, Captain Cross and the team were just here today to scout out the cave. Partway through, they encountered a man in white."

"The man is incredibly powerful—he actually made the three High-level zombies submit to him. Now, those three are no longer a threat."

"The problem is the thousand-plus Middle-Level zombies. The man in white seems to have other plans for them..."

Lex Cross, on the other end of the communicator, heard Flora Bloom’s voice. "Flora?"

Flora Bloom took the communicator. "Lex, what’s happening?"

"Go back first," Lex Cross said, his tone flat. Then, another, familiar voice came through from his end.

"Well, well, the little cutie’s here too. Tsk, tsk. If I’d known you were coming, I wouldn’t have agreed to his terms so quickly."

Flora Bloom’s brow furrowed. "Cut the crap. What are you doing here? Causing trouble?"

"Whoa, whoa, don’t be so ungrateful! I’m here to help!"

"You’re a zombie leader who’s at least Stellar Level. You expect me to believe you’re here to help?"
