Chapter 520 - 433: The Water of Life’s Encore
Chapter 520: Chapter 433: The Water of Life’s Encore
A grin spread across Lex Cross’s face. "My daughter, of course she takes after me!" With that, he grabbed Flora Bloom’s hand, planning to go with her.
This was Lex Cross’s first attempt at the nightly ritual of catching Polly Cross before bed. For Flora Bloom, however, it was a great way to work off dinner with a game of chase.
This time, however, Lex Cross simply put a finger to his lips and whistled. The Nightmare Beast obediently returned, carrying Polly on its back.
This left Flora Bloom, who had already rolled up her sleeves ready for a big production, feeling rather awkward.
Polly Cross seemed to have a natural reverence for Lex Cross. It wasn’t fear, but whenever he was around, she was exceptionally well-behaved and easy to manage.
After a quick wash, Polly obediently went to find Jade by herself, leaving Flora Bloom standing there, completely flustered.
Meanwhile, Lex Cross, in a very good mood, took Flora Bloom by the hand and led her toward their room.
Whether it was because the night had grown late or for some other reason, Flora Bloom suddenly felt restless and ill at ease after returning to the room.
"I... I’m going to take a shower!"
Without waiting for Lex Cross to react, Flora Bloom rushed into the bathroom and locked the door behind her. ’This isn’t right,’ she thought. ’Are his hormones going into overdrive, or is there just something wrong with me today?’
The way she felt now reminded her of being drugged by Belle Bloom two months before the apocalypse. This, combined with Lex Cross’s unusual behavior today—serving her tea, water, and pastries—made her suspicious.
The more Flora Bloom thought about it, the more certain she was that something was wrong.
Especially now... the bathroom seemed to be filled with an intensely familiar fragrance.
’That familiar fragrance... The lash marks from plant bindings on Lex’s body, his flame-scorched clothes, the lingering energy residue similar to an attack from Three-Eyes’s superpower...’
’Damn it!’
’Don’t tell me that guy went to the Eye of Terrestrial Fire.’
And that fragrance... A chill ran down Flora Bloom’s spine. Gritting her teeth, she turned the cold water knob, about to douse herself.
Just then, however, the locked doorknob was effortlessly twisted off by Lex Cross, who then stepped into the bathroom.
"Flora, a cold shower is bad for you."
"You! Did you go to the Eye of Terrestrial Fire today?"
Lex Cross raised an eyebrow. His expression flickered with unease for a split second before returning to normal. "Clever Flora."
"You!"
"I just went to borrow something from an old friend, that’s all."
"You actually used that black-furred ape’s Water of Life?" The angrier Flora Bloom became, the faster she felt her reason slipping away.
A familiar heat seemed to be spreading to every corner of her body. Flora Bloom knew it wouldn’t be long before her reason deserted her completely.
A faint smile played on Lex Cross’s lips. "Waiting for ’someday’ takes too long."
Flora Bloom’s sharp gaze fell on the only water-filled container in the bathroom. The damnable, distinctive aroma of the "Water of Life" was emanating from it.
Water Energy gathered at Flora Bloom’s fingertips. While she still possessed a shred of sanity, she drew the water out of the container and flung it at Lex Cross.
"If you’re going to use it, we’ll use it together!"
Flora Bloom had intended to instantly retreat into her personal space to wait this out, but a black energy suddenly bound her in place, even blocking her spiritual power.
It was just like that time outside the Argent base, when the man in white had severed the connection she had with the space inside her.
’I can’t get back to my space, the whole bathroom smells of the "Water of Life," and I’ve fallen right into his trap.’
"You’re despicable! And childish!"
But Lex Cross just planted a few childish kisses on Flora Bloom’s forehead. "Childish, so what! I’m no monk. How can I not touch my own woman when she’s right here?!"
His hot breath and gentle tone were more than Flora Bloom could possibly resist in her current state.
Before she lost consciousness, she heard Lex Cross’s soft, restrained whisper in her ear.
"You silly girl... If I lost my reason too, wouldn’t you be afraid of me hurting you?"
Black energy washed over Lex Cross’s body, completely devouring the "Water of Life" from the Heart of Earth’s Fire that he had "conveniently" acquired.
He carried the restless Flora Bloom back to the bed. Seeing her shift from passive to proactive was even more intoxicating to him than the "Water of Life" itself.
The "Water of Life" was so named by the three-eyed old ape of the black-furred ape clan because it ensured the continuation of their people—in short, it stimulated the most basic instinct of life.
Even the most powerful superhumans couldn’t resist this natural liquid, unless they possessed a devouring superpower like Lex Cross.
Flora Bloom was burning up, unable to stop herself from pressing close to Lex Cross. The moment she rested her scorching cheek against his own warm one, the uncontrollable and strange sensation coursing through her vanished as a wave of black energy swept over her body.
Once her mind was clear, Flora Bloom realized her current position with Lex Cross was dangerously suggestive. She had just started to pull away when he pressed her down again.
"You already cured me, why are you still..."
"Flora... Don’t run away, okay?"
......
The night was still young...
